I went looking for a fish oil/Omega 3 supplement today and found myself at the Vitamin Shoppe. I've never seen so many vitamins, supplements, herbal supplements, and other stuff. I wasn't sure what to pick out - there were sooooo many choices! I got one of the store staff to come over to talk to me about the choices - it quickly became clear he wasn't sure about what he was talking about. An older gentlemen came over and talked to me about the choices and explained a few things. I ended up choosing the Vitamin Shoppe brand of fish oil capsules. Lots of different varieties of vitamins and I love it! Although in the middle of a pandemic, some employees are wearing masks and some aren't. A lot of customers are walking around with no masks and no one is saying anything. Yet they have a sign on the door that says everyone has to wear a mask before they enter. There was a sale on ghost energy drinks and when I got there there were only three left. As I was checking out the cashier said "those are mine." Terrible customer service to stockpile items and not sell to customers. I won't be back. There are places with better customer service. read more

This is a great place to get workout supplements, protein and well obviously vitamins. When you check out you are presented with a candy store like counter - but it's all protein things! Protein bars, protein brownies, protein cookies, protein wafers, protein chews (I could go on). Every time I go, I pick up one strange protein-y item JUST IN CASE it might be good. I have to say that Chef Jay's Tri-O-Plex Gourmet Peanut Butter Brownie actually could pass for a brownie (if you haven't had a REAL brownie in awhile). This is my go to spot for all my supplemental needs. I use to go to GNC, however they tend to be a bit more expensive, and on top of that, you have to pay for a membership just to get the discounts. If you want better prices then, come here and get products. I'm very into fitness so I come here regularly to pick up stuff from protein, pre workout, BCAAs, creatine, and of course protein bars and cookies. This place is better than buying online. Price is actually comparable to what you'll find online and the store associates are incredibly knowledgeable about their products. Better than gnc where protein is on average $10 more and most have no idea what anything is. If you need a little direction in the supplement world, this place is a good spot. I drive out of my way for this Vitamin Shoppe for a reason, I could easily go to the one at Springfield mall and save 10-20mins of driving but I go so far out of my way for one reason, an employee named Ricky. He goes above and beyond as an employee, he will walk with you through-out the store and talk to you about what you are looking at and give recommendations. To my knowledge he doesn't have any degree in health science but he does do the research on the products coming out and he will also ask repeat customers of their experience with the products so he can give better recommendations. I find this to be an indispensable asset to the store, he gave me a tip to my mass gainer protein to split the servings to two meals to make it easier to drink. Now this may seem like an obvious tip but for someone who hasn't been taking mass gainer before and would just follow the four scoop instructions to a T would probably have suffered a lot and not continued. I think with his knowledge and helpfulness, I'd rather hear what he has to say and think than look at the price tag, I have not once had a bad experience with a product that he has recommended and I now look to see if he's present in the store before even looking at the products because I might not know about something new that has come out that has rave reviews or something that is over hyped and is just getting pushed hard. It is worth the drive and I think that I wouldn't come back if Ricky wasn't there. Look for him, he's kind, welcoming and always willing to help out. read more

I went here a few days ago to pick up a tub of AML Preworkout. It seems that this is exclusively sold at Vitamin Shoppe stores because I cannot find it online other than Amazon with a 14% markup. This was my first time going to this location just because I was in the area. From my experience, the staff here are very knowledgeable about their products, and can tell you about the differences in many items either from speaking with customers who have used them or from personal experience. I was asked about my workout regimen, and educated about what products would aid in achieving my goals. There was never any pressure placed on me to purchase a product; only great information given. I've been a member of Vitamin shoppe for years. The company itself has everything you could possibly ever need or want to become a better and healthy person. However if you don't know what you're shopping for, it's going to require not just a well equipped store, but an extremely knowledgeable staff to back it up. Not only does this store in Fairfax provide all of this but each employee who works there takes their job quite seriously. You have to know what your doing in order to advise the public on what supplements to put in your body, otherwise you can hurt someone terribly. Ricky is the manager at this particular store and I truly have never experienced such a professional, kind and knowledgeable man. He goes above and beyond the call of duty every time. I learn something new each visit and I refuse to go anywhere else and I live pretty far away now. When you receive excellent service like this from everyone, the distance to drive becomes a moot point because the good out weighs any negative. Ricky also treats the staff quite well and you can tell when you're there because actions always speak louder than words. They aren't there just to be there. Vitamin shoppe will also price match.
