Inspired by watching the TV series Alone made me want to get started with learning survival skills…read more- this course helps you get your feet wet in the core elements of how to analyze and think critically when faced with a survival situation. Dan Baird was an incredible instructor (his background as a primitive survival specialist must be highlighted here) as he gave a very clear reality of what we need to tackle i.e. shelter and temperature regulation, knowing your environment, etc. We got to build shelters on what we think we would good for a survival and Dan showed us a much more sustainable version: both in a limited amount of time to replicate more dire situations. We also got to practice tying up gauze in case of heavy injury and bleeding as well as how to properly navigate via a compass (who knew there were two kinds of "north"?!) Overall, I highly recommend and will be back for more! Note: our training was in the mountains of Livermore - your car will get dirt on it!!

My friend and I met up for this adventure and we both had a blast while learning practical survival…read moreskills. I enjoyed our instructor Dan Baird as he was skilled at his craft and excellent at involving everyone in our group of many ages and backgrounds. Can't wait to pack my survival/first aid kit and use my tools on my next adventure. Side note: The intro class does make you want to take more classes!

My son 7yrs old, Avneesh really enjoys going to Studygascar class @ Sunnyvale-Saratoga center and…read moreit's been over an year already. Wow, times flies by, indeed! Coach Mikhail being an International Chess Master @ US Chess Federation level, is a wonderful , professional and highly experienced coach who not only delivers the precise chess nomenclature in each class but has also developed a very prune and wise system within the institute of evaluating each new kid based on their previous chess skill levels, knowledge and appropriately placing them in the right learning program starting from beginners, lower intermediate , intermediates and so on..... My son look forward to weekly class of 90 minutes a session wherein he gets to turn in at first the homework (he really now got hooked on to 16 chess problems on a weekly basis), followed by an actual class time and then timed tournament games in the end of his same skill set team members. Each student needs to master their current chess level and they get promoted to next higher grade upon meeting the chess levels for the grade they are in and not off their age or seniority. This concept is Ultra Cool and helps other level kids to also play and sync up together based off their chess skill set, growth and development. I must also talk about center another partner, Natallia who coordinate and runs the center administration very efficiently. She keeps an eye on each of the student(s) as the class gets over and handing over the kids to each of their parents and simultaneously the next session class students in parallel enter the classroom. She manages the enrollment, tuition fees, email and phone call of Studygascar Chess class and I am very impressed with her high class of productivity and effectiveness in chess operations and logistics. My kido-Avneesh has really enjoyed Studygascar class experience thus far and always looks forward to completing his weekly chess class homework and learning new skills every week from International Master, Coach Mikhail. I could see his chess skill set getting improved on a monthly basis as he practices it on a regular interval. Look no where else, but Studygascar is the way to go! I strongly recommends Studygascar for all your kid's chess learning needs!

My son attends chess classes at Studygascar about one year already. He went through most of class…read moregrades over there (beginners, lower intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate) and enjoyed each grade. When my son began to study chess at 6 years old, he had another chess coach, but after half year chess study, my son told us, even he likes to play chess, but he doesn't want to study chess anymore for two reasons, One is chess study is boring to him and we (parents) cannot always follow his coach's guide to practice with him. My wife and I both don't know chess, sometimes, it is even hard for us to understand what his chess coach really asked us to do. So we stopped his chess study. Few month later, occasionally, some one told us, there is a chess school (studygascar) near by, they teach chess but doesn't need parents involve technically. We let our son tried 2 lessons (have to pay) over there. He immediately loved those lessons and since then, he never leave studygascar. Studygascar evaluates kids with their chess level and divide them into different grade/class. In general, the kid has to earn next grade by their chess level not by the time they study in the class. By this method, similar level kids can always play together and speed up their chess skill development. After about 11 months study in studygascar, my son chess skill has big improvement and also got good chess score from USCF (US Chess Federation) by his age. Studygascar operated by a nice couple, the husband, Mikhail Baturyn is the only chess coach, He is a Chess International Master. ( http://www.uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlMain.php?14437365 ). All chess classes in studygascar are 1.5 hour, not 45, 50, 60 minutes like other chess after school. They have homework from each class and students must hand in their homework paper before class start. Studygascar chess class only focus on help kids to improve their chess skill, they don't organize tournaments like other chess school. Sometimes, they don't even encourage you to goto USCF tournament before your kids reach certain level. If kids want to check their own chess level, parents have to arrange USCF tournaments by themselves. My advise to parents who are looking for right chess coach for their kids are, If your kid instinctively love to play chess and willing to spend time on it, studygascar maybe a right choice for you. if your kids only want to know how to play chess or not play chess well, maybe it is not a good choice for them. Because, most of students in this school really love chess and their internal competition in each level are high (compare with other school), if your kid is not really good at chess, sometimes, they will feel frustration. If some parents want to show off tournament result from their kids, maybe this is also not a right school for you to choose. Because this school never spend time to teach parents how to prepare those shows.

I first learned about Kristi's class from several other actors who highly recommended her to…read moreimprove on their auditions and to start booking jobs. I was nervous the first day but Kristi creates a welcoming and supportive environment. I felt safe to express myself, make mistakes and to ask questions. The format of the class starts with brief introductions to the other friendly drop in students then warm up exercises which are always different and thought provoking. Then we take turns performing cold reads into the camera. She chooses the scenes and gives us options and flexibility on what we want to work on. (If we let her know ahead of time she will email us the scripts so we have more time to prepare. )Then we get to watch the playback of our performances and receive constructive feedback right then and there that we can immediately implement into our second take of the scene. Kristi gives expert advice and encourages us to be creative and try different things. She can help pinpoint weaknesses and strengths and how exactly to improve upon them. I've gained confidence as an actor and learned techniques that work for me. It's also been helpful to observe the other students perform different scenes and to hear Kristi's feedback for them. I highly recommend bringing a notebook to remember her insightful advice and our discussions. Kristi is a great teacher, personable, entertaining and she knows what she's talking about. I can't emphasize enough how fun her class is! We are all learning and laughing and discovering ourselves- it's an enriching experience. Another bonus is she lets you keep the recordings which helps if you don't have a reel to send out to auditions yet. Anyone can take this class, it's convenient and not too expensive, I don't think there's a better way to spend a Thursday night!
