As more or less a beginner singer the thought of working with a professional opera singer who performs in musicals was a bit intimidating. But I was presently surprised at how willing, interested, and 110% capable she is working with skill sets of all levels. For me, as a beginner, Nicole's lessons include a progressive set of warmups which are great at teaching you how to sing legato (smooth and connected!) and how to breath and provide the support your voice needs to sing well. From there she allows me to pick the music I'd like to sing and works on it song by song applying the learned techniques as I go. It's been amazing so far in just a few short weeks (with some practice) I'm singing 100% better already. Best of all I finally understand the mechanics and techniques I need to continue working on to improve. If you're a more advanced singer she'd likely take a different approach to adapt to your needs no doubt. Just a few things I really appreciate with Nicoles teaching techniques and I think you will too: 1. She learns what works for 'you' and provides technical training using techniques that are personalized for you to understand (for me I'm very visual so she gives me visual queues a lot). 2. She gives you just the right amount of instruction in a lesson and suggest you record it. Do this! And listen back when you practice in between lessons it makes a huge difference! Those recording will turn into a library of lessons I'll carry with me forever they are excellent. 3. She teaches in a way that builds upon the foundation you create for yourself every week. Every week my breathing, legato, range, get just a little bit better. Week by week. 4. She can focus on super specific areas of a song (i.e. down to a word and vowel you're singing) that you can improve on. And invokes specific techniques to help you improve. 5. She has AMAZING hearing! She can detect issues with the most seemingly subtle nuances of your voice. You'll hear them too not always during the class but when you listen back to you recordings. Nichole is also fun to work and has good stories, Is mindful of your time with her so you get solid value, and she's very positive overall even when you're not having a good day..
