Monica did a fab job on a bikini wax and a facial wax. I was very past due on the bikini wax and I had never had a facial wax. She asked all the right questions for both procedures. FYI...before you have a facial wax...you need to discontinue retina products, etc. for three days. I did not know that! I love everything about The Wax Bar! Finding the right waxing studio is never easy. There are always a number of variables people should take in consideration before finding the right studio; customer service, the wax they are using, cleanliness, how many years of waxing experience their specialists have, and the whole vibe about the place. Well, The Wax Bar scores 5/5 on all of them! As soon as you walk in the studio, the specialist welcome you with a smile and walk you through the process. If this is your first time, they'll ask you to sign a form in which you need to answer a few medical questions about yourself. Most studios make you sign a form, but is just to cover themselves from any medical problem or reaction you might have after your visit. What makes The Wax Bar different is that if you mark YES on a few of their medical questions, they'll actually need approval from your doctor before waxing you. I think this is KEY because that means they DO care about your health and well-being, and want to make sure nothing happens to you. I know this for a fact because another wax studio gave me a second degree burned, and they said that I had "signed the agreement" and it was basically my fault. After signing the form, they'll offer you a shot of Fire Ball - this actually might be my favorite part of the whole process - and they'll walk you to your room. What happens inside their rooms, stays inside their rooms, so I will not go into detail about the actual waxing experience, but I can say they make it as pleasant and easy as possible. I've been coming here for the last two years or so, and they have the same specialists. This is also very important because most studios hire girl right off their beauty school and have no idea what they are doing and they only last in the job for a few months or so. The ladies that work here are professionals and have been doing this for years, and if you need any advice as to how to take care of your skin after waxing, they'll help you out and will not try to sell you a product; like some of the other studios. I've visited a few locations but the one on Main is my favorite (since it has my favorite waxer Lorraine!). Anytime I've visited I've been greeted by friendly staff. The check in process is simple and the waiting area is stocked with magazines and lollipops. The pinup decor and funny signs make for a fun and relaxed environment. The staff are very professional and thorough so you are in very good care here. This wasn't my first rodeo when it comes to waxing down under. I've actually been to another of their locations on Wurzbach but decided to come to this one because my regular location didn't have any available appointments that worked with my schedule this week. I absolutely hands down LOVE the wax bar! I refuse to have my waxing done anywhere else! They use a very expensive Australian wax that is much more gentle and flexible than other waxes. My brows were shaped and done just to my liking and the wax they use is not a typical strip that is used at most salons. It instead does not cause much pain and does not irritate the skin at all.
