So, I am going to do my best to evaluate the church in a way that will be helpful for others searching. Humanity church is true to its name. There is an overwhelming sense of community here and genuine connection. I felt like I was at a house church in that aspect. My initial impressions upon arriving was to take in the beautiful church building, quaint bit stunning. I arrived a couple of minutes late and was greeted warmly by two ladies. The church community is small enough that you could tell they recognize who the visitors are, but they don't put you on blast as some churches do. The church is definitely charismatic in their worship, preaching, and friendliness. The worship felt like a concert and the sermons were delivered with charisma and conviction. The Holy Spirit is welcome here and the sermons are more "inspired" than a 1-2-3 point sermon. Pastor Nathan brings up a sweat towel to dab at his forehead as he excitedly shares his convictions and relates his message to personal stories to tie in his points. The sermons feel supplemental and appear to be intended to be in conjunction with their "Humanity groups" (life/small groups). It is not taught verse by verse like a Calvary Chapel, but felt more like listening to a speaker at a conference. At the end of the service they push for you to get connected to a group, which I could tell is really a central part of where their community thrives. In addition, prior to my visit, I did some internet investigation on the church and found they have a strong social media presence. Through their church website, I was able to click on a link to their Instagram where there were current and up to date postings, keeping people connected. They are a small church but clearly doing something right to have such an enthusiastic congregation. The only negative comment I have to add is that the worship was not my favorite. There were fog machines and light beams, which really felt too showy to me and was distracting for me to worship. The singers were a bit pitchy, which was also distracting at times. While churches should be inclusive, I also believe that people should be placed where they are gifted and that there should be worship team auditions, as uncomfortable as that may be for some. I would recommend this church to anyone who is comfortable in a charismatic church setting!

Usually when you are new and walk in to a 155 years old mega church, you hardly get noticed there…read more However, their entire staff was very friendly and helpful, a nice gentleman even gave me a hug when I was looking for a place to sit and I had never met him before. It turned out to be the lead pastor, Eric Holmstrom who gave me a hug and was genuinely passionate about serving Jesus Christ. This is a place where you feel like home and brothers and sisters welcome you with open arms no matter what. Their choir and band are really good too!

I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful this campus is. I'm not sure who the pastor was but he was extremely charismatic. It's always great to hear about the word of God. For six years I served at New Life Community Church because I believed the church belongs to Jesus Christ, not to any one pastor or leader. The Bible teaches that Christ is the head of the Church, and every believer should be treated with love, humility, and fairness. One night, Pastor Craig asked me to provide security while the New Life food bank was being built. During that time, I encountered a transient who pulled a knife on me. The police were called, and the incident was officially reported. Instead of receiving support after serving the church, I was later told that I was the liability. As time went on, I began asking respectful questions about financial decisions and leadership choices. Rather than feeling that my concerns were welcomed, I felt they created tension. When I returned on Good Friday, I was asked to leave by a church member named Tiago. That experience was deeply painful after years of faithfully serving. My purpose in sharing this review is not to discourage anyone from seeking God. I believe Jesus Christ loves His people, and the Church ultimately belongs to Him--not to any individual leader. If you decide to visit, I encourage you to seek Christ first, study the Scriptures for yourself, and prayerfully evaluate your own experience. This church was constructed circa 1948 so it has a traditional cross layout that includes a cry room. lol There are two wonderful marble statues of St. Joseph and the Blessed Mother on either side of the altar. It is always clean & well maintained grounds. There is a grassy area on the east side with a statue of St. Joseph & a young Jesus as well as benches. On the west side there is a small garden with a statue of the Blessed Mother. This church reminds me of Holy Family in Wilmington as well as those in Mexico so maybe that is why I am partial to it. He's undoubtedly the main reason I come to LBF when I visit as opposed to my parents' or my brother's church. LBF is also a 15 min walk from my parents' home so that helps too. The church is pretty big with multiple services and while majority of the congregation is white, I think that's a fair representation of the demographics in Upland and the surrounding neighborhoods.
