I was looking for a classic barometer. I looked at a lot of places, and a lot of barometers, and ultimately decided on the Medallion Barometer by Downeaster at the Weather Store. I did this with the help of conversations with the folks at the Weather Store; very helpful service (I left a message, and the owner promptly called me back). The barometer arrived in good shape, solidly packaged. And it is almost a work of art. I elected the brushed nickel finish and navy blue face. It's a very solid feeling instrument; nothing about it feels cheap. I followed the easy setting instructions, and set the current pressure to the local Accuweather barometer reading. It has tracked the local readings very closely, so I don't bother comparing the readings anymore; I trust the reading on the barometer. I mounted it on a wall, with the screws provided, although I did provide small drywall anchors. Overall, very happy with the service from The Weather Store and the quality of this product! read more

Great stuff, friend ordered some items. It can get expensive, but the guy is very knowledgeable and has found items from all over. It was primarily dedicated to instruments, I guess someone could do some decor shopping here (its not a large part of the store), but I think that would be a secondary consideration. I ordered an outdoor thermometer as a gift. It's a bit small but it's well made. The readings were off by about 7 degrees consistently. It's a thermometer - it has one function and it didn't do that very accurately. A thermometer that doesn't provide accurate temperature readings isn't too useful. $42 with tax and shipping down the drain. read more

Went in looking for a three-instrument banjo weather station and marine art. We asked to see the marine art on the staircase and the owner grudgingly allowed us to do so. When we got to the top of the stair he rudely accused us of "wandering around his office". We left promptly and will not return. read more

Wow--The Old Man Winter Sculpture on the front of the building created by Michael Magyer was an amazing bonus to one of the most extensive galleries that features all things weather related. i have never seen so many one of a kind items in addition to a great Maximum Weather instrument selection. My husband and I tried to stop in once before when we were in town for the 375th Anniversary celebration in Sandwich, and were so disappointed this store was closed! Having just moved to New England we were specifically looking to buy some marine art (paintings, ship model) and weather instruments to outfit our new place, so we traveled back to the Cape and arrived about twenty minutes before closing on our 2nd visit. After browsing the downstairs and not seeing what we wanted, we noticed some artwork on the staircase. I barely got to glance at what was on the walls, as I followed my husband to the top of the stairs. Rudely, the owner shouted up to us from down below that he didn't want us walking around his office! Had he just peeked around the corner (intead of watching his sports game on TV) he would have seen that we were both NOT IN HIS OFFICE! He could have politely asked us to wait a few minutes until he closed up the shop (locked the door) and then he could have assisted us upstairs. He obviously didn't want to make a sale or didn't think we were inerested in what he had for sale. Either way, he wasn't nice, professional, courteous, or decent to us (which is too bad for him and his business!) My husband and I will find what we are looking for elsewhere, and would not recommend him to anyone we know. Though we will return to Sandwich for other events, we'll remember this experience and how we were treated. read more
