I've been to a few shows here over my years in Hartford. I prefer the Webster to the Webster underground, but I do think that it depends on the artist you're seeing and the vibe that you're going for. Security typically moves the lines very quick and merch is available when you first get in the venue. Every show I've been to has just been general admission so when you walk into the stage room, it's pretty big. There are two bars available and it's cute that they typically have specialty drinks that coincide with the artist's music. Shows here tend to be cheaper, but I think it is because the artist who performed here are typically a bit smaller but it's always a great time. read more

Came here from Bingo Loco and let me tell you it was LOCO! This isn't your traditional "B1, 075...BINGO"... think 90s club with music trivia. Instead of bingo numbers, you need to dab songs that the DJ is playing all night!! This is such a fun and interactive night out! We were dancing, singing and enjoying this 3 hour event. I cannot get over how fun this event was! Even though we didn't win anything, we were having a good time. We were either jamming out to amazing music, raving on stage with the DJ, or competing in contests throughout the night. Parking is $20 but free along the streets if you're comfortable doing so. We did and had no issues. There is a bar. We got the 5 for $35 bucket which included a choice of cider, white claws and spiked lemonade. There is also concessions which are fairly cheap. $2 popcorn and $3 pretzels with a variety of chips, drinks, hots dogs, cookies to choose from. read more

I was at the Webster Underground recently for a show. The indie vibe is strong, which is great if you are looking to literally stand next to your favorite band as the perform. For me, that was a bonus. It is extremely small in there though. I am old so earplugs are usually a staple for any concert nowadays, but I definitely would have suffered some damage if I didn't have them that night. There is a small bar there with some drinks and cans available for purchase. It is quite an old looking building and the area is kind of intimidating to be honest. I was driving perhaps a little below speed limit to try and find the parking lot (which is behind the Webster, but without obvious signage) and several cars blew by me laying on their horns. Totally unnecessary and obnoxious. I wasn't stopped but trying to look for signs because many of the streets are one way requires that you not be driving over the speed limit. When I did find the parking lot though there was a very nice guy there to pay and direct me to a spot. He made me feel a bit better. I then entered the club and was immediately renewed in excitement and joy with how kind, helpful, and happy the staff were on a Tuesday night. The staff is what makes it four stars for me. The management at this venue is absurd. I purchased tickets to see an artist on June 21st, 2024. However, the artist rescheduled to another date at the last-minute due to sustained injuries. This is understandable. Stuff happens. However, how does a venue not offer a refund when the ticket purchaser is not able to attend the rescheduled date? This is extremely unfair. I understand that tickets are non-refundable. HOWEVER, the concert was rescheduled to another date. I am not asking for a refund for a fault of my own. I've never ran into this issue before at other venues. Whenever events at other venues were canceled or rescheduled and I was unable to attend on the new date, I was offered a refund right away. I've seen two shows here: Motion City Soundtrack and Atreyu. Ticket prices are reasonable, $20 for both shows that I saw. It's in a sketchball neighborhood, but there's not many shady people hanging around (if that makes any sense whatsoever) The venue is on the small-ish side, which is a good thing...sometimes you can meet members of the band. The bathrooms are ghetto and beat up, but for being where it is, the venue as a whole is quite nice. Yes, the security people can be pricks...I got "warned" for taking video on my phone...except I was just taking pictures...but if they weren't there, things would be out of control. read more

I don't mind that the venue was a bit dated as the staff was friendly overall. Currently there is still a mask mandate inside and if you forget a mask, you can buy one for $1. I only saw people really wearing them near merch and food stands. My biggest issue is the sound quality. I went with a friend so see a few pop rock/metal bands and I didn't know the bands. I enjoyed my time but I couldn't hear anything the singers were singing or saying as the music and mics were no where near equalized correctly. Great venue in Hartford for rock and punk shows. Local and national acts. Sound quality is really good, loud but almost never too loud. It's an all-ages venue most of the time, with a separate area for 21+ folks to drink and watch the show. This venue is connected to the Webster Underground, which often acts as a side stage for larger shows but also puts on its own smaller concerts. Parking is available in the lot behind the Webster, usually for $5. There's also lots of free on-street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding, but be warned: this is not the safest neighborhood. read more

I've been here apparently several times, but this may have been my first in the underground and not the main room itself. It was... Okay. I'm also 29 and not the young person who could handle all these concerts. I came home with several unknown bruises, and I avoided the mosh pit at all costs. I did appreciate the intimate setting of the venue to be able to see a band so close up and get some great pictures of them. However that also means I'm very intimate with my fellow concert goers, many of whom could learn about deoderant and soap. I started on the left side of the room, and after feeling trapped by the mosh pit, made it to the right side of the room where I discovered the very open bar area where I could actually breathe. I also discovered the area where the band enters the stage, and proceeded to stand there all night to watch the concert. Also - since I only brought a debit card and the ATM machine inside the place was not working, I figured the bar would take cards. I was correct, was able to purchase a water ($3.50) but then got my second water for free so that was awesome :). I think most people that go here appreciate what the venue does - brings music at a cheaper cost and at an intimate venue. It needs air conditioning or passing out of free deoderant when people enter, but other than that, it was definitely a great time! read more

I signed up to Yelp for the purpose of reporting the TRUTH. The real story. This venue is terrible- sound, staff, and set up. Someone left a blanket in speakers, the security guards are strict as they come plus no drinks near the stage. I dont write reviews but I have to in this case, I am not picky about venues but I will make it a point not to return here. Help make it go out of business. Came here to see an EDM event (BTSM) and quickly my group found out they do not tolerate anyone drinking before they come in. If you even are 21 and have visibly been drinking they will not give you a wrist band to get more drinks at the bar. If you are under 21 and you even LOOK like you've had anything to drink they refuse you entry and no refund is given. The bouncers are extremely rude and if you are a girl and want to bring a purse in I advise you leave it in the car if you don't want it turned inside out. Sound quality is okay and price was too high and none of the staff was personable. Stay away from here. read more

The night I was here I was not in a drinking or a very social mood. I wanted to see the band and chill. This is an excellent venue for exactly this. The over 21 area is SMALL and you had to squish to the front if you want to see. The next level down was where I stayed, luckily I was not drinking because even with my soda I got stopped by the staff on my way down. The Webster is very roomy and you really don't need to be near the crowd to enjoy the show. The staff, whom I had little interaction with, was friendly enough. Nothing great or bad. I will return I am sure on a more social/drunken occasion and we will see if this rating changes much. read more

I came alone to see my friends play. A staff member, Aj, was so kind to me. Wahoo! Something about Hartford that doesn't make me feel wretched! I likey-likey the Webster Theatre. It's big, first of all. Like, really big. And the sound is quite lovely there. The secret is the balcony. Use it. It's multi-leveled, and you can actually get better sound if you are up there, rather than downstairs. For those of you who care about this sort of thing, there *are* seats. However, the security folks are usually not too anal about people dancing in the aisles, but during sold out shows, that law is a little more strict. Not to worry, though, because there really is a lot of space from row to row, so dancing *at* your seat is still roomy enough. You won't feel crowded or too warm or dehydrated. Nice bathrooms, plenty to choose from; ridiculously long lines - and the kicker: men's room lines are usually longer! read more

Oh Webster... you have seen better days, how the mighty have fallen. The Webster Underground has the bar area separate from the stage which makes it impossible to see the band on stage. The area is kind of cramped and the acoustics aren't the best. They do have a good amount of solid bands come through here, which is always nice, but that leads me into another issue. This venue is in the ghetto. The surrounding area is a dump and the Webster needs better security. I came here for Battle of the Bands on March 22, and one of the band members had his car stolen from right in front of the venue! None of the staff/security seemed to even care a bit. There's side parking which is $5 and it's "guarded" by one guy in a little guard house and while I've never had any issue there (probably because it's a fenced in area), the on-street parking is not something I'd recommend. Pay the $5 if you come here. They're strict about re-entry and won't allow it, yet a band member's car gets stolen and they don't seem to bat an eye. Webster needs to adjust its priorities if it hopes to survive. If I want a dumpy dive bar place, I'd much rather go to Cherry Street Station in Wallingford. read more

Webster is my home theater. I know many of the staff and love the comfortability here. Yes they do body searches but wouldn't u rather know you're somewhat safe? They get a variety of acts here and I love the underground for their intimate shows. In the main room they know how to handle crowd surfers and aren't scared of them like many other venues are. Head of security will get right in there and handle stuff when needed. My only complaints are I wish u could buy Palladium tickets there and vice versa as well as how bout a bit of a spruce up?! read more

I went to Webster Theater on November 22, 2014 to see Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens. The theater indeed is located in a sketchy neighborhood. A man living across from the venue came out of his house, begged money saying his brother was arrested last night and he needed 5 bucks to take a bus. After collecting a few bucks, he took off driving his car!! The staff at the venue was also poor. They stated to us lining up and waiting for hours that they didn't care who came first. They made us form different lines, and let people who came 2:00 pm earlier than those who came 10:00 am. The ventilation in the venue was pretty bad. I started feeling suffocated before the main acts and heard people complaining about ventilation around me as well. I had to leave before the whole show ended due to an unbearable headache I started to have during the concert. Over all I will never go to this venue again even if my favorite bad plays there. read more

I don't know much about the actual theater room here, but avoid the Underground part of this place at all costs. Easily the worst place I've been to for a concert. Webster Underground is cramped and run down, with dated electronics that the staff can't even get to function properly. The sound was absolutely awful. Every one of the bands that played were miserable and you could tell. There's also no air conditioning, so it managed to get so hot in the room that I almost passed out due to dehydration from sweating. If you can see your favorite band at different venue, definitely do that instead of coming here. read more

I spent a lot more time at the Webster and Webster Underground in high school and early college than I do now. The Webster hosts a lot of rock and punk acts, some more hardcore, and while a lot of acts that come through now aren't exactly my cup of tea, every once in a while, I find something I want to go to. I made my way back this month for Say Anything and Kevin Devine (mostly for Kevin Devine), and nothing has changed since the last times I've been there. Parking can be an issue if you get there late - there's a small lot behind the venue that you have to pay for, but that fills up pretty quickly for bigger shows. The streets are also lined with cars at night, and depending on how far you want to walk the streets of Hartford, that can be a problem for some people. We couldn't find any parking nearby, so we went to the church across the street, which is still kind of a distance - and you still have to pay $5 to park. The venue itself is OK. The front area, bathrooms, and concert area are a little grimy, but once the concert starts, it doesn't really matter. The stage is set pretty high, so you can always see the bands playing, and the venue is big enough to hold a lot of people but not so big that you can't see from any spot you stand. If you make your way to the Underground, which is attached, the stage is a little closer to the ground, but the area is much smaller and more intimate. Fun Webster memory: My junior year of college (circa 2007) Hanson played a show on their The Walk tour, and before every performance, they would walk around the streets of the venue barefoot to raise awareness for children in Africa who don't have shoes and also to sell Toms shoes. Fondest Webster memories: Catch Christmas. (Though I haven't been since my freshman year of college, and I'm not even sure if it still exists.) read more

The Webster is a borderline-cool dump. My mom and I ventured to the Webster this past weekend for a concert of one of our favorite artists (Andrew McMahon). It was both of our first times, so we weren't entirely sure what to expect/what we were getting into. There is a small parking lot, but the majority of parking is on-street. I did see several posters inside saying "hide your junk in your trunk", implying that maybe it's not a good idea to leave valuables in the car. After walking several blocks to get to the venue, we were able to pick up our tickets at will call in a reasonable amount of time. We then proceeded to wait in the line to essentially go through TSA... these security folks really dug through my bag, opening sunglass cases, going through my wallet, I felt borderline violated- although the girl searching my bag did find my library card that I lost 2 months ago in a hidden zippered pocket. Well done. Once we made it through the strip search, we headed into the standing room only venue. This consisted of concrete floors, crummily painted ceilings, a very small foyer like area with restrooms and a concession stand. There is a bar area, and luckily we scored two little stools for the duration of the show. The bar was fairly full from the moment we got there and only proceeded to get busier. The acoustics are fantastic. Maybe it's because this is a small space, but I was really impressed with the sound quality. The show that we went to was packed, obviously because Andrew McMahon is a musical genius. The venue holds maybe 1,000 people, which makes for a very intimate show. I feel like 10-15 years ago The Webster was the place to be... the vibes I got while there were ones saying "I used to be the coolest spot in Hartford and I still could be but I'm struggling right now". Overall, I'll be back when someone I like is playing there. read more

The staff at the Webster underground are the rudest people my friends and I have ever encountered at a bar. We paid $15 each just to get into the building and they refused to give us wrist bands to get into the bar. We are all roughly 30 years old. After being denied wrist bands, we asked to speak with a manager and they said we couldn't. I hope my review helps people make the easy choice to never go to this pathetic establishment. read more

The Webster Theater's staff is incredible. The security guards are prompt, polite and helpful. At the show I attended, it was at least 90 degrees inside of the venue due to the weather outside. By request of the audience, security passed around waters to drink and also sprayed the crowd with water bottles. They provided ice and water to any audience members who had to get pulled from the pit and made sure they were ok to go back in. The only thing preventing me from giving this venue a 5 star rating is the room. They oversell tickets when the venue is not very big. read more

Crowd was a little to mellow for my taste but it was a tuesday night in Hartford, CT so what can you do.. I wish this venue was in NYC. read more
