I've been to quite a few concerts at this venue and I'd say it is so-so. Some people are a bit harsh on the place but I think it's decent. The pricing is usually good and there is a good mixture of big names and up-and-coming artists that perform. My two biggest complaints are the price of alcohol is absurd for a venue of this caliber and the acoustics aren't too good. You have to know your stuff about acoustics and pick your viewing area smartly for the best sound. read more

This is more to do with the webster underground side. First impression the place was packed with high school kids which kinda made me wanna leave. Second what a S**t hole everything was kinda dirty and run down. Third I feel like in order to call your self a music venue you should at least have a decent sound system and at least try to fix some of the acoustic problems. The bar had good service and decent prices but you can't really see the stage at all from there and due to the shockingly young audience you can't take drinks into the main room. Honestly, it is not the venue that is the problem, it is the staff! Although there is some crossover of staff working at both venues, some of them are clueless when you ask them a question about anything but where the bathrooms are. I had VIP meet and greet passes, and after the meet and greet, we were instructed to get into a line in BACK of people who did not have VIP. "So you are telling me these people without VIP can get into the venue before me?" The response: "yup". Ohh OK so i paid $20 extra to shake a hand? Get it together. The Webster is run by the same management as The Palladium in Worcester but PALES in comparison to The Palladium. Thank God their restoration efforts are focusing on The Palladium and not The Webster. OHHHH did I mention, the security has NO IDEA how to catch crowd surfers? Don't try to stop it from happening, learn how to catch people like the Palladium does. Don't drop literally every 4th person. read more

Ive been here twice now and probably never again. First time back in Febuary on the Nightwish concert and then now in november for Sonata Arctica. Staff is a joke. They are animals, its even worse then the palladium in worcester ma. The sound is horrible, the venue the bar is horrible, the only food they have is popcorn and potato chips. The people that frisk you once youre trying to get in are the worse most descpicable kind of low life losers ive ever seen in my life. And the place itself, i parked down the street and got lucky both times not to get robed or have my car stolen, If you dont live in CT its just not worth it, Im from massachusetts and our venues here arent that much better than this but at lest i dont have to drive an hour and a half to get there. This place is a joke, the end, Go only, and only as the last possible option. Did i also say that the bathrooms are nasty and wide open meaning people walking on the venue can see you taking a leak inside? lol read more

I've been to many venues and I've never been to such a dump. First off, no air conditioning at all. Had to be 100 degrees inside. I had to keep walking out to the smoking section (I don't smoke) just to cool off in 85 degree weather. Second, my husband is disabled. I called ahead to arrange for him to have seating. This has never been a problem at any venue. NYC, Boston and venues in New Orleans went above and beyond to accommodate. The Webster staff made him stand for an hour with no a/c before handing us a folding chair for him to carry himself (I carried it) and bring it inside the venue. We ended up leaving after 4 songs because it was unbearable for someone with a severe heart condition. The bathrooms were disgusting. The floors even worse. It's like they just leave it a sticky unkempt mess and don't care. Very disappointed at everything this place is. Live music is our passion but I will never return to this venue no matter the band. Get your act together Webster. You're pathetic. read more

I go here a lot simply because of the capacity of the venue. It's one of the bigger ones without being an arena (arenas are hell in terms of fees, security, and all that stuff), so that's good. I'm not too happy with the bands that come through, but obviously that's just me. It seems to be mostly hardcore acts and old hasbeens that aren't as big as they were so they can't play Mohegan Sun anymore. Security isn't too strict and the stage is high, but that's about all they have going for them. It's not too awful of an experience, so I still go, but they could definitely improve in some areas. It is really hot in there, the acoustics and sound quality are usually shit, especially in the Underground. Parking is pretty awful (usually always $10 to use their lot, and the street parking fills up really fast). Also, online they go through tickets.com, so every ticket has a fee of $6.50 and order processing is a flat $3. Buy a $10 ticket online and your total is literally going to be twice that amount, which is absurd. Other places run through Ticketfly or Brown Paper Tickets, who have no order processing and the fees are significantly less. Overall it's just a mediocre experience. I've played there as well and there is very little effort put in by sound guy in the Underground, which explains a lot about why the sound is so awful as a listener. read more

The Webster Theater/The Webster Underground is probably the WORST place to see live music I have ever been to. The acoustics are terrible. The venue is more or less falling apart. Pretty sure the A/C doesn't work at all because every time I went to a show there is was uncomfortably hot inside. The overall atmosphere is pretty lousy. On top of all this, you can't even drink near the stage! In the Underground there is literally a wall separating the bar from the stage. You can't even see the band. In the Theater the bar is in the complete back of the hall, again separated by a partition. And the place is riddled with lame-ass high schoolers. Do yourself a favor and see your favorite band elsewhere, seeing them at the Webster will only serve to sour the experience. read more

I came here for an electronic show, a dubstep show actually, so the crowd was a little younger and definitely a bit more wild than maybe the venue is used to. All good. Didn't have any problems with anyone, but I would NEVER recommend anyone go here for a show of any kind for the sole reason of the staff. I'll start this review with that I really enjoyed the concert, but everything else about this venue is total garbage. I went up to the bar area, got refused but was politely told to go get a wrist band. Wah-lah, I return 2 minutes later with a wristband and I'm on my way to the bar. I'd say it took about 30-40 minutes to get a beer while watching the miserable bartenders act like they hate the place. Awesome. Love standing in electronic shows stone cold sober seeing unpleasant employees. I get some beer and enjoy the show for about 2 and a half hours. Great show, didn't have any problems. 4 and a half beers later I decide that I need to use the bathroom. I walk towards the only exit/entrance to the 21+ area and step out. My half beer is promptly ripped out of my hand by the lady who originally told me to get my wristband. Then, she pulls a ninja move on me and rips off my wristband. That means no more entry to the bar area and certainly no more beer. I look at her with a confused look as she says something and gets in my face, but I couldn't hear her. I look to her left, and there's a police officer standing next to her. The police officer is laughing at me, as is the lady guarding the bar area. I stand there for a second, look at my phone, it's 12:50AM (show is ending in 10-15 minutes), and promptly do as they wished and get my ass out of there. They'll never see me back again. There are no signs saying you can't bring a beer to the pit area, nor the bathrooms with a wristband on. Take my money and shove it up your ass. read more

I recently took my teenage girls to Digitour at the Webster Theater. I was so nervous about bringing them to the Webster Theater because of the reviews. After going I wanted to jump on and add a review for any other people who might be thinking of going there to attend a show. We were fine and safe. There was nothing but young teenagers and moms everywhere. We were able to park in the parking lot in the back, it is small, but can fit a lot of cars. Once we went in side I was surprised, there aren't any tables, no seating, it is a small theater, but it was perfect my girls. They had a blast, loved the show and can't wait to go back. The staff was great, there was plenty of security. They were friendly and informative. I was so nervous about going as I am from a small town in southern New Hampshire and the reviews regarding the Theater were not great and I was terrified and wondering what I had gotten myself into. It is small, it is old, but from the bar area I was able to see the show, the stage and everyone who performed. My girls were about ten feet from the stage and couldn't have had a better view or experience. Thanks Webster Theater! read more

for being one of the worst venues i've ever been to, they sure seem to book some fairly worthwhile acts. not sure how. but that's the only plus i can find. the staff is rude and overly strict and i always feel filthy after i leave. they don't do much about smokers, which sucks. i know it's difficult to stop people, but they don't seem to really care. unfortunately i will probably continue to go here, but only by default. ugh. read more

Was just there tonight. I've never been treated like this in my entire life. The staff there don't give a crap about any of their PAYING customers. Want to use their bathrooms? Think again -- they'll give you a hell of a time. Talk about hospitality. And the bar is another store. Trashiest/meanest bartender I've ever met. $6.50 for a drink with dubra? I'd rather not - I can get a handle for that amount. Will never go here again. read more

Oh the Webster Theater. Before I started touring full time, I spent many years at this place and let me tell you, definitely seen some ups and downs. Let's start with the underground. That place is terribad. The floor feels like it's about to cave in. It always gets so hot in there and you can't breathe. The stage is small and if you try to stage dive, you'll hit your head on the ceiling. People tend to go more nuts in the small room so I recommend the bar if you don't feel comfortable with that. No side stage to load off of so the bands have to carry equipment off the front of the stage and into the crowd so they'll make you move out of the way. The main room is much bigger. Actual typical feel of what a usual person would think of a concert stage and venue would look like. This room also gets wicked hot when the energy is flowing through the crowd. When this room is sold out, it's over stuffed. You can't even get through the doors into the room to see the show. I've seen people get wicked upset over that. The main room sound usually isn't great but most people don't really care. I wouldn't recommend the food. Since I've been listing bad things, they're good things about the place. It's a typical venue but it has a nice spooky vibe to it. The drink prices are reasonable. Soda is only 2$ if you're under 21 or on a budget and it's actually Pepsi products, not cheap store brands. The security tell you not too film video but are pretty down to earth besides that. Also usually a food truck right outside of it. It's not the worst venue but it's not the best. I would recommend parking in the lot or somewhere by a lot of lights since it's in a sketchy area. read more

This was a rough experience. i got me and my friends lil mosey tickets and we rented a house and spent tons of money to come here. the tickets said doors opened at 7, which they did not open until 7:30. once you got in there it was a pretty laid back place. they had small hand held metal detectors, but even when they would go off they would simply go "do you have some change or something in your pocket?" and they would say yes and get ushered along. that didn't feel safe at all. once the concert started a good MC came out and got the crowd going. he made it seem like lil mosey would be right out, but that there would be a couple performances in between. NO. that was a lie. there was at least 20 other performances that were....HORRIBLE. so horrible to the point that some of them got booed off stage. the concert started at 8 and it wasn't until 11 that lil mosey came out. we were all exhausted from being hyped up by all the other rappers that we really had no energy. lil mosey did not seem impressed that we had no energy either. the build up was cool, until it turned uncool...which was very quickly. the planning and structure of this place is not great. read more

This has to be one of the very worst venues we have been to. Their website touts it as modern and spacious. Reality it is dank the a/c if any is not used. The ventilation consisted of a small floor fan for the whole Main stage area. I cannot believe this venue complies with any health and safety codes of the city of Hartford, Over crowded sweltering temps inside and warm waters only cost 3 bucks. There is very limited parking and when we walked out before the main act we watched Hartford police out in force ticketing cars parked in the street. I will be reporting this place to the city of Hartford for its overcrowding and lack of ventilation. This is another Station Nightclub waiting to happen. I wouldn't go back for any reason on earth. read more

i recently went there to see one of my favorite bands. first, my friends and i were waited outside at the under 21 entrance for about two hours while privileged people were going in and out of the doors, shoving us aside. when we finally got in, the venue seemed unclean. the acoustics were terrible the staff were jerks - especially security guards. a couple bands were at the merchandise table after the show to sign things for fans, but the security sent us out the door. and although it wasn't Webster's fault, the smoke machines made it absolutely impossible to see the band. i was very disappointed in this venue. read more

Webster Underground has terrible sound. Wanna check out local talent and have a good time where you don't get abused, go to Toad's Place in New Haven. Cheaper, safer, much better quality sound, but still a "hole in the wall" kinda venue for chillin out and enjoying some great tunes. The regular Webster Theater is a great intimate venue that occasionally gets some good headlining bands for a great price. The security here is very good, and is necessary for this neighborhood, so just don't do stupid stuff and you wont' have a problem. Underground has a lot of work to do. read more

I like the venue to see concerts because its small. I just saw Halestorm there on July 14th ans it was hot as hell. No joke it had to be 100 degrees and 100 percent humidity! Needless to say I will not be going to a show there during the summer. read more
