Proposing to my now fiancée on stage at the Yelp Elite Event held here December 5th. Check out my review for the full story.

This is going to be a special review... #Storytime. On April 18, 2017 I went to a Yelp Elite Event at an up and coming restaurant. It was from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and when it ended I was hanging out in the corner on my phone just chillin'. This beautiful, tall, sexy red-headed thang strutted her hips on over to me and casually told me to come hang out with the rest of the people. So I did. We all talked, chilled, got dessert and enjoyed amazing conversation. I was determined to get her alone so that I could chat with her one-on-one. So I was able to walk her to her car, ‍‍ we chatted a little more... I asked her if I could see her again outside of Yelp events. She smiled and said she'd like that. She gave me her number. The rest is basically history. With that being said I was determined to propose at an event similar to the one that brought us together. In August sometime I spoke to the Yelp coordinator in my area and told her what I wanted to do. I told her I wanted to do something in December and the next month she contacted me with a few ideas. She told me the available dates were 12/5, 12/6 and 12/18. Baby likes odd numbers so I chose 12/5 since they were all weekday dates anyway. So then I began spreading the word to her family and friends. It was important to me that they be able to witness it all. The event wound up being a gathering of about 60+ people to check out Sea Tea Improv's awesome talent and then have the 1st Annual Yelpies! The Yelpies are an award ceremony where 10 were given out to celebrate the achievements of Yelp Elite members throughout the year. There were categories such as "Friendliest Yelper", "Funniest", Best Overall, Rookie of the Year, a few others and lastly... Couple of the Year! Naturally that would be us and it was! So I practiced my speech and the proposal went off without a hitch! SHE SAID YES! Afterward I had everyone come to hangout at the restaurant where we had our first date... Salute! It was an UNFORGETTABLE night filled with love, passion and fun. A special thank you goes to Haley who runs things at the theater. Thank you so much for allowing me to do this in front of everyone and for providing such a great venue. Now every time we're downtown we can point out this place and remember the amazing night that too place there. Another thank you goes to all the improv actors who kept us laughing and entertained throughout the night. You are truly talented.

Sea Tea Improv hosted the first annual Yelpie Awards! We were welcomed with sweet treats from NoRa cupcakes and tastease donuts as well as a Finnish alcoholic beverage called Long Drink. Everything was just yummy. Post unexpected fire alarm, the improv group put on a great performance that had everyone laughing out loud. If you've never been to improv, it consists of interactive and quick-witted comedy. You won't be disappointed to say the least. The theater is in the basement across from the Asylum St parking lot. The lot was full so we parked in the MAT garage by Hartford Stage, a two block walk. Staff were friendly and welcoming, also free stickers which I adore. Bathrooms are unisex in the hall. It's a small place with maybe 50 seats. Intimate but you don't feel like you're on stage with the troupe, which is nice. They also have a family friendly show on Sundays AND tickets hanging for those who can't afford to pay. I just love this idea, as art and comedy and theater should be available to all. Already planning my next trip back!!

Went to an improv show on Friday night and absolutely loved it. The performers are all very talented and we laughed through the entire show. Definitely coming back, especially when i have family and friends in town. Also, the little bar / snack counter was perfect!

The lead actor in a Christmas Carol was lights out fantastic. The whole cast was very supportive. I love this place!

I have not tried the bistro yet, but this is my second time seeing a concert in the music hall…read more The music hall is on the smaller side, making each show more intimate than one in a larger venue. There is a bar in the back and additional seating in a balcony area. There really isn't a bad seat in the house, and both times I went the tickets were less than $50. I will definitely be back again.

The infinity music hall in Hartford is easily accessible and surrounded by several restaurants…read more There is a parking garage directly behind, however, there's no sign in the garage that points you into the theater so you may end up walking much further than necessary. The process to get inside is a bit disorganized, but everyone is doing their best. The acoustics are nice. The challenges are far more plentiful. The stage is unusually high - which means the front row is likely incredibly uncomfortable with kinked necks unless they stand the entire show. The seats are unbelievably close to each other - so much so that we saw people forfeit their seats because they couldn't fit into the row. If someone needs to exit the row, everyone must get up and move out of the row due to limited room. (Men- do not stand and make women slide past you. That's gross.) A little more effort could go into the experience, for instance, there was very little room at the stage for people to dance during The English Beat. I think it's important for any theatre to understand who they're hosting and how the crowd enjoys the music. Overall, the performance was great, but the theatre could use some adjusting. I wouldn't return unless it was a must see.

While it's not exactly close to home, it's an easy drive and getting to the venue was much simpler than I expected. Parking was well organized and getting in and out after the show was surprisingly easy. My only real complaint was the cost. Concert tickets are expensive enough these days and paying another $50 just to park felt excessive and without warning. There was nothing posted on the way in to expect this fee. One tip for future concertgoers: follow the venue's social media accounts before you arrive. We experienced a weather delay and their Instagram updates were the quickest and most helpful source of information. There were screens inside encouraging guests to check social media, but if you weren't already in your seat, you could have easily missed that message and been stuck in the storm! The venue itself was clean, there were plenty of food and beverage vendors and lines moved fairly well. Like most concert venues, concessions were expensive, but there was a good variety to choose from. Overall, we had a great time and would absolutely come back for the right show. Hopefully next time the parking prices are a little easier to swallow!

The first time we came I was yelled at due being alone (going to the restroom) and not having a real ticket. I had a screenshot of the ticket from my fiancée. They require a physical ticket from EVERYONE! He second time we came we were prepared, we knew we both needed tickets and that was no problem, they seemed to have added a sign indicating this. Security in our area did mostly nothing. The 'guard' seemed to pick and choose who he wanted to speak with. Some people were allowed to block the aisle and some weren't. Our security guard later joined the pit. Security here does not wear name tags. So you can't identity who they are. We had several people vaping and who were in the aisle during the concert who were not spoken to, but when certain people did something it wasn't noticed. I just feel all concert growers should be treated the same and security should not be allowed to join the pit during shows. At one point he was in the pit and concert goers had their arms around him. Security coming into the show is fantastic. While inside it's tough.
