Country loaf and a chocolate croissant (ignore my homemade shortbread in the corner, which did not compare with these treats).

Perhaps if I actually spoke French I would have enough superlatives to describe this place. By getting off one bus stop early I get to stop at this local bakery and walk home with some of the most delicious warm treats I've ever had. After more than 20 visits, here are some favorites: Sourdough: I know, there are multiple kinds of sourdough. Try them all. Chocolate croissants: I have spent two weeks in my life in France and I have eaten 2 croissants a day every time I've been there. These croissants are just as good- flaky, chocolatey, and filled with buttery flavor. Almond croissant: I don't know what these magical things are. Creamy? Soft on the inside with a flaky outside? Hints of almond but something else sweeter? Whatever witchcraft it takes to make these, I support it. Chocolate rolls: We mostly love this for the aesthetic, and the spiky tops have been a hit with all our family members. Country loaf: Our go-to bread when we just need a little splurge. Offers a refreshing upgrade from our standard budget sandwich bread at the local Tesco. Whether you stop in for a quick cup of tea and a pastry or make this a regular place, Wee Boulangerie is sure to greet you with a smile and something delicious.

Amazing artisan baguettes, crispy, chewy crust, soft inside. Skip Natural Foods inc nearby and Peckams, the bread at this shop is fresh, and often warm. There's a couple of tables so you can sit in and have your bread served with butter and jam along with coffee. About to try sourdough, but so hard to choose, everything looks and smells delicious. The bread is so good you could have it alone for a meal with or without condiments. The white bloomers are the best value at £1.90 a loaf and are way better than what you would get elsewhere. I have since learned that the loyalty cards is if you spend over £5.

    Almond Croissant // Bad latte

I was super excited to try this teeny-weeny bakery after reading all the amazing reviews. However, I was a bit underwhelmed -- I came in for their famous almond croissant and some coffee. Now , the almond croissant was unlike any croissant I had ever tasted -- it had the texture of a madeleine (soft, cakey) and some outer flakiness associated with a croissant. I found the filling was very good but wanted there to be a bit more in the croissant. The outer crust was delicious! I really did like the texture and flavors of the croissant but it was nothing extraordinary. My low rating is mostly due to the TRAGIC latte I received. It was literally watered down coffee with milk. No froth. no strong espresso. Just really sad, and too overpriced for the quality! I would recommend trying the pastries for sure, and stopping by for the cuteness of the cafe, but the coffee is disappointing.

Cuckoo's Bakery - Carrot cupcake and chamomile tea :)

I ordered a carrot cupcake with a chamomile tea. I sat at one of the tables and dug into my food as soon as it all arrived! The little cupcake was sweet, moist and very delicious. The chamomile tea was piping hot and exactly what I wanted. I sat at the side of the table that faces the street and got to just relax for a while whilst enjoying my food. From what I remember their menu mostly consists of the cupcakes and hot beverages! However, if that's exactly what you want then you'll be good to go. I intend on returning to give more of those delicious cupcakes a try :) Make sure not to arrive too late if you want to be able to pick from any of the flavors offered on a particular day! But I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in giving Cuckoo's Bakery a try.

The staff were lovely, putting up with my umm-ing and inane chatter. I may or may not have had a discussion with one of them about the aforementioned Doctor Who and our thoughts on the season opener. I settled on two different sticky confections (one toffee, one chocolate/caramel) and two identical lemon & raspberry meringue cakes - because I know that's a flavour Tim and I wouldn't reach a compromise on sharing. The sticky chocolatey ones were indeed sticky & chocolatey with a nice moist sponge, but those lemon & raspberry meringue cakes were possibly the nicest I've had. A proper light sponge, plenty of lemon flavour and the soft meringue topping is sweet without being sickly like buttercream can be. A true superstar of a cake from a lovely store. I'll definitely be popping back here - probably on foot rather than traveling by TARDIS though, mores the pity!

I adored the lime, poppyseed, and blueberry roulade! It was gone before the soup and toastie sandwich arrived. Crispy on the outside and so very soft and tasty on the inside. The cookie pie was impressive, but I honestly liked the roulade so much better. The soup today was broccoli and it was delicious! I had a ham and cheese sandwich lightly grilled in a panini press. Mom had a chorizo sandwich. The ladies at the bakery were lovely! Friendly happy folk always make food taste better! The bakery was quiet and not busy at 12:30 pm. It wasn't empty, just not busy. We got a table for 3! It was funny (and also a sad commentary on humans) that the still water available said "Please turn the tap off." Silly people. Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch! Mom said very good! Very different!

My very first time I came I tried a vegan cinnamon bun. It was warm, soft, and had that sweet caramelization from the sugar on the bun. It was soooo good. After that, I kept coming back about once a week to grab a treat and sometimes a drink. Everything I've tried has been so delicious and the staff is always very kind. If you follow them on Instagram they even sometimes release what goods are in the shop since they switch it up! Tasty Buns definitely became a go to of mine and I think there is truly something for anyone with a sweet tooth!

I was out this morning, and noticed their beautiful display of cakes. I love cake, and so going in here was a very easy decision! Entering the shop, you're surrounded by a plethora of different cakes and baked goods. It really is a feast for the eyes. I was wanting a snack, and got myself a couple of shortbread biscuits, spending a total of £1. I was greeted with a cheery smile from the server, which is always great. Like so many small shops, they clearly take great care with their customer service. I can foresee a lot of visits here to sample their range of cakes. According to their website, they also do outside catering, which if their shortbread is anything to go by would probably be very tasty. Available at fairly reasonable prices are also portions of puddings, soups or meals which you won't regret buying and which are cheaper, and some might argue better, meals than you could get at any takeaway.
