Food was average plus. All the food was hot from the grill or fryer. Prices are unbelievably reasonable. They have specials such as on Sundays and Wednesdays kids under 10 eat free with a paying adult. Burgers are fresh and all the food was hot from the grill or fryer. We had the chili cheese fries, hamburgers, buffalo wings, hot dogs, onion rings, and sodas, beer and tea. No complaints here! Service was good. The dining area is pretty big and accommodating. This is an older establishment and the decor is older but there are good sized televisions on all the walls with really good cable signals. Service was good, good interaction. Good suggestions. Nice family restraunt, great burger joint. Definitely would come back

The place looks very homey. It's like you are eating at your grandparents home. There's several TV playing the baseball game and some games machine for the children or adults. They give you a tray of pickles, onions, and all the condiments which is nice. The food is delicious. I enjoyed that brownie sundae, onion rings, and tots. The onion rings, tots, and fries has a nice crunch and cooked to perfection. The sliders is also delicious! Will definitely come back again to try the shakes. Service is amazing! She was quick and helpful. She told us if we like the brownie sundae then we would like the shakes also. So we are definitely trying the shake next.

We had a gathering of 50 classmates at this restaurant on February 13th. The staff couldn't have done a better job of serving us. The room was large enough for us to move around and greet one another. Staff even took pictures for us. They were welcoming and the food was great. Service was excellent. The Class of 1968 Hoover High School thanks The Weevil Burger for a fabulous afternoon.

We were in the area and Weevil Burger looked interesting. It was. A throwback in time kinda place. Big, roomy, banquet chairs and red leatherette booths. They are known for their steer burger. And that's what we both ordered. One was the double cheeseburger 1/4 pound and the other was the 1/2 pound bacon blue cheese burger. Our server was friendly and efficient. She always had a smile. She brought out a huge tray of condiments for us the use. Fresh sliced onion, pickles, and the works. The food was hot and fresh and came with what felt like a head of lettuce and a lot of tomatoes. Now... the 1/4 pound burger was dry, but tasty. I'd stick with the 1/2 pound burgers. Much more juicy. BUT... the 1/2 pound burgers don't come with a side so no fries. Seems like a cheap route to go here for the money. That said the fires that came with the 1-4 pound burger were good as were the few onion rings that also came with it. Service was great. Food was good. If you are in the area worth a stop.

Our first time at this place and we're impressed. We finished all food that we ordered. yummy

2024-12-01 Evening incident - Simply "Bait and Switch" to draw you in .. But Weevil Burger won't honor their coupons, and you're paying full price. I had the waitress take the coupon and confirm with the manager, so there was no misunderstanding. The Weevil Burger won't accept "any online coupons", this one was from Clipp dot com (formerly Local Flavor dot com) Although the coupon stated The Weevil Burger name, address, and valid date. pic attached Clipp dot com just responded to my inquiry and stated Weevil Burger's Coupon is valid and Clipp dot com will reach out to them. Standard practice for "failure to honor" their coupons? It's odd for both the waitress and manager to miss this. I'll wait to see a Weevil Burger response or perhaps others with the same experience. I'm new to the area, and on a positive note about this bad situation, I now realize Habit Burger Grill is in the area.

During the very tough times of Covid I was happy to see this place hang in there. It's always a "go to place" fir burger & fries. Great to see slowly the customers coming full force but sad that "help wanted" signs are still up on the window.

THE GRUB : let's just get to it, the French toast had fresh berries, lemon cream, and whipped cream and bread the size of a half loaf was amazing, along with the omelettes and the scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Even the kids French toast was amazing , Great food from the cooks. 5/5 for all menu items. The only less-than-average item was the dry, safari-desert biscuit in the shape of a muffin. Clever packaging just not practical or savory. But the service lacked what I expected for this place. The inability to get simple things, such as refills on my drinks, napkins, syrup, or jelly, was frustrating, as it only seemed like there was one person up front, one waiter, and one waitress to serve the many people in the dining room. It was hard to get a hold of somebody when I wanted something as simple as those items.i totally blame management and ownership for this particular issue, as the staff when contacted was very cultural and quick to return to the table however because I couldn't get all of the items to make my breakfast the best it could be 3/5 stars . Overall, 4/5 stars for leaving the family with a bone-dry drinking cup and going home as thirsty as I showed up. BTW I'm still waiting for jelly for that bone dry biscuit that I asked for 4 minutes after getting my food..

It's aromatic, intoxicating. It promises amazing food and an amazing time. Unfortunately, that's also the worst part about it because nothing inside the restaurant lives up to this promise whatsoever. The interior is about as Midwestern/country tacky as you can get. The customer service is just fine, the employees are doing the best they can with what they've got. There's really not a lot to say with that aspect, for better or worse. Although the line system and how long you wait for the subpar food is a crime in and of itself. The food itself is the most disappointing part: the majority of the offerings taste cheap, virtually all the meat is incredibly dry, and the sauce will do a little to nothing to fix that. The best thing about the food is that they have Cajun seasoning at the table that you can overload your food with, making it taste slightly more edible. This hardly fixes the fries, though, which might be the worst part about it, emphasizing the dryness of the restaurant's to a degree that can only be compared to a sprawling baking desert in the middle of July. And you can forget about healthier eating options here. All of it is mediocre at best. It would be nice to recommend a local business like this. Unfortunately, it's impossible to do that in this case. Until the restaurant completely overhauls its menu, service style, and does something to really spruce up the place to bring it up to a higher caliber, it's best to steer far clear of aroma tempting roasting aroma that lingers across the neighboring parking lots.

The bread was absolutely the best I've ever had!!! No reservations. Walk-ins only. Our party of 14 was quoted 1 hour of wait time. It only took about 30 minutes to be seated (not bad, considering we were a large group). The hostess was nice and amicable, she kept us informed on our wait time and seated us promptly! The vibe was definitely lively! Love the western decor (the deer head was a nice touch). The food on the other hand was absolutely the highlight of our dining experience. I ordered the 20 oz. bone in ribeye steak 10/10- medium. The steak was cooked to perfection (nicely charred on the outside, evenly warm and pink on the inside). Nice marbling of fat as well. My wife ordered the 6 oz. sirloin steak with shrimp skewers 10/10- well done (I know, she likes her meat burnt, sadly). For sides, we ordered the loaded mash, mac n cheese, and caesar salad. Only downside is that you can expect to wait almost any time of day on weekends and during typical dining hours on weekdays, and in a similar vein it will always be loud and busy. The servers are so hospitable, but as they are serving a lot of tables, I would try to be as accommodating as possible. Shoutout to our server Gali, who is kind and warm and the best! The food is always great. The pork rib appetizer is pretty good, comes with four bones on a bed of fries if a party wants to share just a bit each. We've enjoyed the fried pickles before but it can be a little on the salty side. Similarly, depending on the day the rice/chili/steak can be a little heavily salted, so if you are sensitive to sodium I would make that clear to your server. I always get a sirloin (can't beat the price) with a cup of chili and a baked potato. The sirloin here is very good for what it is, and rarely ever overdone, nice and juicy. The chili has no beans but is nicely savory with lots of beef flavor. They have A1 if you want and ask. Always get extra rolls. They will even give you some to take home. Delicious with their whipped cinnamon butter.

Duke's Old Fashioned Onion Burgers has become a pretty popular spot in La Mesa. Every time I've…read moredriven by, there's always a steady stream of people coming in and out, so I figured it was finally time to see what the hype was about. They also rotate fun milkshake specials, and when I visited they had an Apple Pie Milkshake that sounded really good. I just wasn't in the mood for something sweet that day. I kept it simple and ordered the Single Onion Burger ($13.95) with mayo, ketchup, and lettuce, plus an order of the Original Fries ($5.75). The onion burger is made with fresh ground beef that's smashed with onions on the grill, and you can customize it with toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeños, cheese, mustard, and ketchup at no extra charge. Bacon is available for an additional charge. The restaurant itself was really clean, and I appreciated the self-serve condiment station stocked with ketchup, spicy ketchup, ranch, plenty of hot sauces, and to-go containers. The fries ended up being my favorite part of the meal. They're fresh cut and double fried, coming out piping hot with a crispy exterior and fluffy center. The portion was also super generous. They packed so many fries that they were spilling outside of the container into the bag. Paired with the ranch and spicy ketchup, they were honestly worth ordering on their own. The burger was a little more disappointing. The patty was overcooked, which made it pretty dry. You could even tell by the color that it had spent a little too much time on the grill. Since I usually keep my burgers pretty simple, there wasn't much to balance out the dryness, so I found myself dipping almost every bite into extra ketchup and ranch just to add some moisture. I can definitely see why Duke's is a neighborhood favorite, and I still like the concept behind their onion burgers. It just didn't completely satisfy the burger craving I walked in with. I'd come back for the fries without hesitation, and I'd be willing to give the burger another shot hoping I caught them on an off day.
