I chose to stay at the Wellington simply because it was in close proximity to the places in Brisbane I wanted to see. Like a good visit to any city, I planned on spending as little time in the room as possible and as much time as possible seeing things and people. With that in mind, I really didn't care what the room was like (as long as it had a bed and a shower).
So I was pleasantly surprised by rad features like free WiFi and a balcony with a rather pretty view of the city. The woman at the reception desk was very friendly, and informed me of another advantage of the location; the City Cat ferry service stops just a short walk away (I took a ride at night, it's also very pretty). Being in Kangaroo point, you're only a couple of streets from the cliffs. The Kangaroo Point cliffs are great to walk along and beneath at any time but I think they're best at sunset.
I didn't get a chance to try the food at the Wellington, opting for cheap snacks from the IGA and the Shafston Hotel across the road.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, good location, affordable price. The Wellington is a pretty good choice if you plan on staying in Kangaroo Point. read more
