Damn this hotel is good looking! From the art hung on the walls, to the colour coordinated book…read moreshelf on the first floor, everything is very, very beautifully designed. You really couldn't ask for more from the look of the hotel, it's slick and urban but still has a warm homely feel. Unfortunately noise really is an issue. Chur Burger on the ground floor plays very loud music, and has an alfresco area that is below one side of the hotel, this is also the entrance area to the lift to the rooftop bar. Maybe I'm just getting old, or perhaps I should have realised this hotel is obviously a party style hotel and was best not to book here on weekends if I wasn't partying... My room was on the second floor and it was noisy, mostly with people talking in the alfresco area of Chur below. The lovely staff moved me to a quieter room on the fifth floor. One of the friendly staff members told me that they were currently looking in to how to make the rooms quieter. I suggest that when you book make a request to be in a quiet room if you're staying there on the weekend.

Pretty cool. Definitely a party on the weekend type hotel. Ask for one of the rooms with a hot tub…read moreon the balcony. Enough room for 2-3 extra friends to hang out for the day or evening. Sweet graphic art and edgy design in the bedroom and bathroom. One of the rooms with the hot tub has a larger balcony with more view - great if your having a couple of friends over. The other hot tub room has a more secluded balcony if you want a little more privacy. Nice bed, spacious shower, sweet toiletries and better entertainment system than The Emporium. But the towels aren't as nice as Emporium or even the ones on my house. Soft bed sheets though. I ordered room service from Chur. Amazing lamb burger - a must try. Check out Tryp, it really is worth a nights stay.

The Hammy, as the locals know it, is just down the road from Doomben Race Course. It's a great…read moreplace do meet up with some mates for a few drink specials before heading up to the ponies. However, if you're not into the races, it's a pub that's casual enough for a weekend afternoon session of drinking with your friends. After a few largers you should then head out the back for a decent steak and chips. You wont be disappointed. Through out the Hammy, there is a consistent décor that runs through that gives the place a "please refrain from going too hard" feel. Perhaps it's the rather large games section with its grey crowd of punters on the pokies, or the middle aged families dining in the restaurant. One thing is for certain, it doesn't really invite the younger generations. It does try mind you. In the Hammy there's a pretty decent sized live venue with a PA system that would be envied by some clubs in the valley. Over the past few months the Hammy has played host to USA Hip Hop and RnB acts Naughty by Nature and EVE. It's a good start, but these efforts have proven fruitless. It's up to the Hammy really, either loosen your rather stiff image, or just keep with the pokies.

Hamilton Hotel is not a bad place for a meal, I have had a decent meal here from time to time. It was however a nice night. We had an enjoyable few drinks before heading home. It was busy but not too over crowded and there was a broad range of ages and people. I have also been here once for a coffee on afternoon which was enjoyable too.
