Sometimes you end up in places for interesting reasons. No matter where I go, I always love to find a wellness cafe that has juices and smoothies. Today was a 97 degree day in Philli, and I was sweating like a hog that just finished laying in the sun and I needed something to cool me down. I was greeted by a kind and welcoming staff, and I ordered the "Revitalize" smoothie!! This was recommended by the staff to help me recharge and to cool my body down as well. It did just that! I sat down and slurped my smoothie and relished in the delicious flavors and felt my body rebalancing and recharging with each and every sip! If I am ever in Philadelphia again, I will definitely check out more items on the menu! Cheers to good eats!

I was lucky enough to win an unlimited month at the Wellness Refinery from the Old City Festival (valued at $299). I was very intrigued as I've never been a frequent sauna-goer and I don't think I've ever been to an infrared sauna. I went twice and really enjoyed it, especially with the weather getting colder, but decided the continued membership isn't worth it for me since it's a bit far from where I live and for the price point I would rather drop in at a gym like the Bellevue which has a steam room and sauna as well as a pool and a full gym. I was able to reserve a session online for 2 people for 45 minutes (normally $109 for 2 people, $59 for 1). They also have the option of 30 minutes ($69 for 2, $39 for 1). The space is small but very calming, with a few seats downstairs. It wasn't too busy both times I went. There is a small cafe with some $9 smoothies and $6 lattes available and a shelf with some fancy creams and spritzes and tonics and all sorts of fancy stuff I don't know how to use on my face but probably should for sale. The saunas are upstairs- I think there are 2 or 3 (same size for 1 or 2 people, just less space). There is a small changing area with lots of towels and they give you a large jug of ice water, some individual towelettes to wipe the sweat from your body and face after (there are no showers, because they say you sweat for a while after the sauna so you should go home and then showed later). They even write your name on a little display thing which is very sweet and a nice touch. There is also a remote so you can play with different color lights (and a menu telling you which colors do what). You can also plug in your phone (iPhone adapter only) and play music in your sauna. The first time I did it I had to leave after 30 minutes because as Nelly said, it's getting hot in here, but the second time I got used to it and stayed the full 45. Every part of your body will be sweating more than you ever knew it could. The space is just small enough that you can't really lay down, unless you are in the fetal position, so its more of a sitting thing. Don't miss the fancy products in the bathroom after to wash up! They have an intro special of 2 30 minute sessions for $49 and different 5 pack, 10 pack, 4x a month, 8x a month and unlimited package. I think the prices are a bit high, but I'm also not a frequent sauna goer so this may be normal! Recommend checking it out if you are interested in trying a new way to relax.

Delicious drinks! Stop in for a fresh smoothie. I love the strawberry cacao drink, the lemon poppyseed is also tasty.

Did a custom smoothie for me each morning I was in town for a trip. Really appreciated it, considering it was a complicated order.

It took a bit of getting used to but definitely felt in the relaxed zone by the end. The receptionists were great to get you signed in- they have 6 chairs and a group was just leaving as we came in so worked out great for us, but if you want to be safe check online and reserve a spot! I liked seeing the saunas are meant for 1 or 2 people at a time so you'll have that all to yourself as well. The bathroom and showers seemed well appointed and a great rainfall showerhead. The whole space is well planned for relaxation without feeling like a car wash. I think their current offering of membership options still too pricy unless you really will be around 2 times a week (maybe worth it if that's your only you-time!) but their one off prices are still pretty reasonable and I would happily return and bring friends!

The girls at the front desk were super sweet and gave me the rundown about the spa's layout and etiquette. Check-in was super simple. You walk in, ask for a day pass, make reservations for additional services if you want (I recommend reserving at least a week earlier to get your preferred time), and they give you your wristband and lounge attire/towel. The women's locker rooms and bath area were pretty clean and very spacious. You don't need to bring very many toiletries, as they have large dispensers of lotion in the locker room area and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower area. They have hair dryers for use and lots of outlets in the vanity area in case you want to bring other styling tools of your own. I started off with a 30 min Quick Fix Facial and was serviced by Ellie (10/10 recommend). It was super relaxing and we made small talk about skincare based on my concerns. She was super nice and very professional. After I left my skin was glowing! I then headed to the juice bar and got an iced matcha latte (also super good) and relaxed by the lounge area with my laptop before I had my next service. It wasn't too loud, and there's free wifi, so you can get some work done, watch a show, or read a little. Keep in mind the lounge area is an open space connected with the juice bar and food court, so it's not library quiet. That being said, people aren't yelling, and nobody was playing their online media out loud, so it's easy to tune out all the white noise. I then got a 30 min Swedish Massage by Andy, which was more than satisfactory. I was worried about the massage being too rough, but he did everything just right. Only during a few second-long periods did it feel a bit heavier, but I knew he was working out a knot. Even then, it was not bad, and I was glad to know he was being thorough. For lunch, I got a shrimp tempura roll and miso soup, and both were tasty and fresh. I loved the complimentary yoga class, which happens daily from 2-3 PM. Regarding the bathhouse, it's listed on their website that you have to be nude, and plenty of people have talked about that, so I won't bore you with those details. That being said, the varying temperatures are nice, so you can choose based on your comfort. The showers are in the same bath area and are open, just to note, but nobody is really looking at you. You get comfortable pretty quickly once you realize nobody cares and there's a lot of body positivity. Overall, I had a lovely experience. The staff are friendly and help you feel comfortable, and there are plenty of things to do. Definitely recommend staying the whole day. If you want to enjoy all the amenities but are a little wary about the nudity, I suggest coming early when there's less people, and it feels a little more private. I was slightly hesitant to visit the spa based on the mixed reviews I saw online, but ultimately decided to give it a chance. I had never been to a Korean spa, and I live over an hour away, so I was really hoping for a good experience. That being said, I'm very happy I decided to come and look forward to coming back.

We checked in after 5pm, and it was pleasantly quiet; most guests were in the common area lounging or eating, with very few people in the baths or saunas. She was able to get us in within the hour. We went for an all over cryo session along with a local session. When we got there we were greeted by Sylvia, and went through the check in process. You are given recovery flip flops to put on, and directed to the locker room where you change into a robe. From there, we went over to the cryo chamber. She explained the process thoroughly. For someone who hates being cold, I was a little scared to do this. The temperature goes down to -120 - -240 F. You are in the chamber for 3 minutes. It goes relatively fast. But it feels so invigorating when you are done. She then explained all the other services the center provides. After she explains them all you want to do all of them! The local cryo session was about 12 minutes. While I was waiting to go, we were able to wait in the Salt room, that is decorated with hanging swing chairs and a lounger. It was relaxing to wait in there until my session. The local cryo session I had on my face and scalp. The temperature did not feel as cold as the chamber but was very relaxing. Left the center feeling completely relaxed.
