We enjoyed staying here very much! Everyone was so friendly when we walked in, from the valet guys, luggage assistance, front desk, concierge and bartenders. The check in process was swift and easy. Room was clean and we had a nice view of the city. You get a $15/day credit to spend so we went to the bar, I got the watermelon spritz which was refreshing. Dovile working at the bar is so kind and friendly with great recommendations on things to do in the city. We also talked to Edina for awhile who is likewise so kind! This hotel is pretty bad. I travel for work quite a bit, I never leave hotel reviews, but I left midway through my stay and went to the Sheraton up the street. Hotel is dark, dated. Windows are paper thin, you hear everything 20 floors up. Shower was bad and dingy. It needs a major facelift, sometimes the location justifies an older place, this was not one of those instances. read more

We did a quick overnight stay here bc I have a free night award that was going to expire (Amex credit card). We came in on a weekend so unfortunately the Executive Lounge was closed, apparently they aren't open on the weekends anymore so that was a bit disappointing. The hotel itself is a great option, especially if you're from out of town. It's right on the river and located within walking distance of a lot of fantastic restaurants. The rooms are decently sized for downtown and most importantly, the Westin beds are always super comfortable. Platinum recognition was eh, but have been since we lost SPG so don't expect any significant upgrades. All in all, it's a solid choice when staying in Chicago. read more

In addition to offering great proximity to the Chicago River and the House of Blues, this property also boasts a full service restaurant, 24/7 fitness center, on-site business center, and on-site men's hair salon. If you have access to their Executive Club I would highly recommend utilizing it as the views from the 25th floor are outstanding and their comfortable lounge, breakfast, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and coffee/tea/snacks stations are all great additional amenities. A beautiful hotel located right behind/overlooking the Chicago River in River North. Despite the weather being freezing, our stay was perfect. Conveniently located in the perfect area, both for driving and walking, this hotel is surrounded by the best food and shopping. The staff were amazing, the rooms were spacious and clean, the breakfast was amazing and the amenities were by far the best. Formerly Hotel Nikko. Formerly an excellent hotel -- It is now cheerless and faded. No longer a great place to stay on the river. It is in terrible need of an update. A dreary dungeon-like hallway ushers you to an even more destitute lobby. A guest should never be placed in a room with a broken bathroom mirror at $600/night. Floors aren't polished, caulking is poor and paint is chipping; unacceptable. Westin River North doesn't deserve the address of 320 N Dearborn and their Chicago River Walk card should be revoked; Unless this is an untouched museum representative of what the Nikko used to be in 1997. read more

Fantastic stay and great location. I don't think a tourist can expect a better location than this immediate area. It is within 3 minutes walking from some of the finest steakhouses in town, a 7-Eleven, tons of night clubs, and endless restaurants around the Chicago River. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we were treated with great service and the staff is truly fantastic. The hotel is not that new but I felt it was well kept and clean. First time staying at a Marriot Bonvoy Brand Hotel. First the lobby is stunning, fresh cucumber water to welcome you as you wait to check into your room! I have a king deluxe room love that there was lavender oil left for sleep essential oil! Nice charging/alarm device next to the bed. Mini fridge, water, coffee, tea in room. In the bathroom the shower has a rain shower style faucet. Did you know Marriot Bonvoy is working on becoming more eco friendly so they now have large stationary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Don't worry they still have a mini lotion. As well as a make up removing cloth and shower cap. Ample towels supplied. Also a great make up mirror with zoom. Finally to a great surprise a spa robe in the back of the door! I do plan on trying the food- I just wanted to post this while it was on my mind. Stayed at the Westin Chicago River North for an event. The front desk staff were terrific. The room was adequate. Nothing spectacular. the $25 destination fee was a little surprising but many places are starting to do that now. We were entitled to $25 off at the restaurants and since we were tired, we decided to eat there. Ordered a caesar salad that was nothing more than 3 whole romaine lettuce leafs with bread crumbs and a dusting of grated powdery Parmesan. For $19! I never send things back, but this was the most pitiful excuse for a Caesar salad I have ever seen. Sent to back and got a Chicago chopped salad which was very good, albeit expensive for a salad. Overall the stay was adequate but the restaurant left a bad taste. read more

We stayed here on points and were still given a suite nights upgrade. The staff was all kind and helpful. Dave was the star of that show. Concierge was out the whole time we stayed, but Dave helped us out! He knows the city. The room was clean and cozy. Our one window had great views of the river. It's very convenient walking to navy pier, Michigan Ave, millennium park, and many of Chicago's landmarks. We ate breakfast here one morning and it was excellent. Great omelette and potatoes. The hotel is big - big lobby, big bar, big rooms. Decent price and great location. The problem is when you have a Bonvoy Lounge, and you are at a level where you get access.......and it's closed on weekends. A bit crazy - it would be nice to walk down the club floor hall to get a free cup of coffee or soft drink vs paying $5 in the restaurant (which was closed in winter by the way) The valet is also ridiculously expensive, $39 for 2 hours for my friend to drive in to meet up for HH. There are a LOT of hotel options in the area - so to pull benefits for your guests is gonna get you 3 stars. The pandemic is over, people! Beware of rooms facing House of Blues - when concerts let out it can be noisy. read more

Visited from Houston for NYE!! I chose this hotel because it was on the river and thought that the river was going to have a fireworks show for NYE. Come to find out, that wasn't happening this year, DISAPPOINTMENT. But anyways, this is a very nice hotel. Clean and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and CVS. Our room was upgraded to the club level, did not know that until I called front desk to inquire about the benefits with having a club level room that I read in the Bonvoy app. According to the front desk, because my room was upgraded, I wasn't eligible for benefits that club access...WHAT. That doesn't make sense...because I didn't ask for my room to be upgraded and nor was I told that the room was being upgraded... Also, housekeeping was very early. The breakfast down stairs is pretty pricy. Word to management: don't upgrade folks room if they can't enjoy the benefits of the upgrade. read more

We loved this hotel! It's a few walking blocks from all the things. The only uber we used was to return from Navy Pier on the other side of the city. Valet parking was approximately $75/night, but parking is the city is so expensive and at least our car was somewhat secure. Checking in was a bit hectic as they hosted two different weddings. We got up to our room on the 16th floor with the help of Dave (bellman with all the city knowledge) and it was great! The King suite and bathroom were nice and clean. The air conditioning was weird, and did not seem to catch up with the actual set temp. However our view of the river was fantastic! The hotel has a restaurant and bar. We ate breakfast at the hotel one morning and it was delicious, we just had to track down the server whenever we needed to order or needed our check. We also used the Bonvoy lounge for breakfast one morning and it was so nice! The layout of food was incredible and the host was so accommodating. We'd definitely return to this hotel! I had an issue where I needed to leave early for a family crisis and they completely refused to refund me and they charge me an extra day for leaving early even though another manager said it was OK, the hotel is old and Dingee. The rooms are very dark smelly terrible lighting. The toilet is 5 inches off the floor. The sink goes below my knee. It's stuck in the 1980s. Don't waste your time. Don't waste your money there many other properties... I am absolutely livid right now. I booked the NYE fireworks package specifically because it was *guaranteed* to offer a view of the Navy Pier fireworks. But when I checked in, I was given a room with *no* view of Navy Pier whatsoever. When I confronted the receptionist, she was unbelievably rude. She immediately blamed *me*, saying I booked the wrong room, and claimed the NYE fireworks package was *only* for suites. I double-checked the description--nowhere does it say the package is suite-only. Then, she had the nerve to tell me I couldn't use points to book the package, but there's no such restriction in the fine print, and the system *let me* book it using points! Her attitude was appalling--she acted like it was my fault and had this completely dismissive, "whatever" attitude. She told me to talk to the manager, who was "busy" at the time, and said I should come back tomorrow morning. Later, she admitted the app was "misleading," but said there was nothing she could do. This is *absolutely* unacceptable, and I am beyond frustrated. The Chicago Sheraton completely ruined my family's New Year's Eve plans. The hotel is old, outdated, and in desperate need of renovation. The room had a musty smell, and the bathroom was in dire need of remodeling. I will *never* stay here again. In fact, I am completely disappointed with Marriott as a whole. This experience has been a total letdown. read more

Loved this hotel. As I travel a lot for biz I'm always looking for a decent place to lay my head at night. It had been quite a while since my last trip to the windy city, and was not sure where to stay. As a Starwood Preferred Guest member, I settled on the Westin since I had a terrific experience during a recent San Antonio biz trip. From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, this stay was wonderful. At check-in I was greeted by cheerful desk staff. They looked up my SPG membership and offered to upgrade my room to Executive Club Floor. Wow - didn't even have to ask! This also granted me access to the Executive Club Lounge on the top floor. Very cool. Yeah, it feels good to be a Baller. My room was clean, and well appointed. Comfortable kind sized bed. Couch. Flat screen TV. Fridge. Safe. Work desk. More than enough outlets to charge up. Free bottles of water in the room are always welcome. Robes to use. Roomy bathroom. Hot shower with good water pressure. Cold AC. Slept well. They also offer a pretty nice gym for a hotel chain. Most hotel gyms are pretty lame, but Westin/Starwood seems to be a bit ahead of the curve and offer its guests a solid place to stay fit while out on the road. Very well kept and clean. Great cardio equipment and resistance machines, along with dumbbells, adjustable benches, yoga mats, kettle bells, and a multi-purpose cable machine. The Club Lounge was spoiling! Terrific staff that was always polite and helpful in here. (in fact, the staff throughout the Westin was pretty amazing and always friendly) Mornings I sat in here for a hearty breakfast and tasty coffee, and at night after my biz day was done I enjoyed wine and a bite to eat - cheese, fruit, etc - while sitting in the den area catching up on ESPN Sports Center. Nothing like a comfy couch, huge flat screen, wine or a beer, and sports. Life is good. The hotel is centrally located in the downtown area, and close to many bars, restaurants, hotels, and things to see and do. I found myself walking to many, as it's only a few minutes stroll to plenty. House of Blues is right across the street. This Westin also has a large bar and sushi restaurant right in the lobby area, but I did not have a chance to partake in either, but every night there was a crowd in each so maybe next time I'll saunter up to the bar for a cocktail. Oh yeah, I would definitely stay here again, and will make it my hotel of choice the next trip to Chicago. Pro-Tip: Sign up to be an SPG member. Stay at Starwood brand hotels whenever you travel and be rewarded with perks. Loyalty matters when it comes to travel, and my experience here was an unexpected joy. We stayed here for a weekend trip. Our flight arrived around 11 and we got to the hotel at 1. We were able to check in right away. Benjamin helped us at the front desk and he was pleasant and helpful. We had a river view room on the 8th floor. The view from our room was absolutely beautiful. It overlooked the river and was across from the river walk that had a winery and cafe right across from the hotel. It was within walking distance to lots of restaurants though we did choose to do Lyft to most of the attractions we decided to check out. The bed the Westin has is the heavenly bed. And boy is that the perfect word to describe it. I found myself wanting to take a short 30 minute snooze each day and would wake up 3 hours later because the bed was so comfortable. I could lay in there all day. Since we were only in town for the weekend we weren't in the room much but on a longer stay I could see myself ordering room service and laying in bed all day. The hotel was in a good location and has a bar and restaurant on a patio overlooking the river and has a sushi bar and lobby bar inside. We did eat at the hotel restaurant which was really good. This will be my go to hotel every time I am in Chicago. Can't wait to come back and stay in that heavenly bed. read more

First if all let me start off with the location was magnificent right on the river with easy walking distance to the river cafes and bars. Our rooms were fantastic with plenty of room to walk around. Right across the street was the a house of Blues and the Yolk restaurant for a great breakfast. The employees were so pleasant and helpful so we couldn't have asked for more. We parked 2 blocks away and walked to the Chicago Architectural Tour for an afternoon for beauty and knowledge. We enjoyed sitting outside looking over the busy river with a lot of boats and people from all walks of life. I strongly suggest you book a room there when you want to visit downtown Chicago. The staff-James the doorman, and the front desk folks deserve a five star rating. The hotel is nice, overall, but could have been a little cleaner. I love that you can log into your Netflix and Hulu accounts and enjoy greater viewing options. It's located directly across from the House of Blues and its very close to lots of great dining options, but what hotel in Chicago isn't? Just saying. I fell ill towards the end of my stay and went down to the lobby market to purchase some Halls. The front desk staff asked if I was sick and sent some hot water for tea to my room. Upon check in we were greeted by Alyssa who was informative, accommodating and helpful. She helped us get situated and settled in for our stay. I want to personal thank her for the tasty treats. We appreciate the welcoming gesture! We were greeted with a gorgeous view of the Chicago River and the revamped Riverwalk. And of course the beautiful buildings of Chicago's skyscrapers. I was here for a conference and paid a little under $300 per night (including tax) - the conference facilities were adequate, though the food served could have been much better. Didn't matter, as there are some excellent restaurants close by. They gave me a room on a low floor (upon request) with a nice view of the river - the room was well furnished and comfortable. Internet was free and worked satisfactorily. My only problem was with the room key, which didn't work the first time. They fixed the issue and then all was fine. Common areas of hotel are decent, and they have a small business center. Newspapers, especially the ubiquitous USA Today, are readily available. Would be happy to stay here again. read more

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip for seven nights and enjoyed it so much! I'm knocking off one star because it was expensive and I probably wouldn't return to this hotel again. When I arrived, the guy at the front desk upgraded me to a higher floor with the same view because I had a longer stay. My room had a beautiful view of the river, the beds were super comfortable, and shower reminded me of a waterfall. The internet wasn't free but I was close enough to the club level floors that I had free wifi in my room. The lobby has free wifi as well. The gym was nice and had normal towels, refrigerated towels, a water cooler, apples and plenty of machines. Service was great and there was a doorman. Make sure to sign up for points and the gold and/or platinum challenge! This hotel was close to my office and walking distance from almost everything. They will also hold your luggage for you if you need them to for no additional charge. read more

Ok so apparently I've never been anywhere because I didn't know how to act and completely lost my cool when I stepped foot at The Westin Chicago River North. From the hospitable front desk team to the plush robes in my room to the views of the river - this place nails it. This was my first time in Chicago and the first I've stayed at a Westin. I am a customer for life! To my surprise ( didn't do much research) the hotel is literally right on the river. You can walk directly out of the hotel's restaurant, down a few steps and be amongst the action of Chicago's beautiful Riverwalk. You are just steps away from a winery, bars, and yachts for rental. This was probably my favorite part. As for the room - oh you mean the breathtaking views from the 18th floor? Oh yeah, it was magic. The beds were comfy, the design was thoughtful and the service was impeccable. I will say that the breakfast was just ok but that's usual in my hotel experiences. However, the bar and bartender were lovely. I know I said the proximity to the riverwalk was my favorite part but I lied, ok? My FAVORITE thing about The Westin Chicago River North was that they have a free bike share. Free is my favorite word. We spent a whole afternoon seeing the city on a hot Chicago day and it was everything. Free bikes definitely beat having to call Ubers or walking everywhere. It was awesome. As always, we had a wonderful time at the Westin! We came to hang for a weekend of food filled bliss and our anniversary. The folks here were nice enough to get us a corner room with a great view. The place is close to everything we were interested in and a quick uber ride elsewhere. The room was lovely with the standard wonderful bed. The pillows are nice but we only had larger pillows - complete first world problem. We tend to like smaller pillows to go with the big ones, but cest la vie! Nicely decorated room with an excellent LCD TV and plenty of working space. Shower was Boss with a couple shower heads and endless hot water - always nice for vacation! The "Green option" to decline housekeeping in exchange for 500 Starwood points was nice and the linking of our uber account to our spg account makes for a nice little extra! Overall, a very nice stay and at a very nice price on the off weekend we came into town. We'll be back and the heavenly bed is now above me on my wife's favorite things list..well played Westin! read more

I had a really good stay at Westin! The location is unparalleled, right across from House of Blues and a bunch of restaurants. 10 minutes from State Street, the center of the action. And it is surrounded by other hotels in the area. The service is superb as well. As a Starwood Platinum Guest, I got upgraded to Club Executive Suite on 19th floor. Shout out to Benjamin who helped me at the check-in! The suite itself is gigantic, with the spacious living room, bedroom, and restroom. The view is good, but I'm sure the side that facing the river would be better. The robe is heavenly. I also enjoyed the Executive Lounge for its superior view. However, the staff at Luggage Service and the Lounge were somehow disrespectful and didn't care about the client. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much! Would like to come back again. read more
