I have always loved this property and this year we celebrated 25 years since our first visit with many in-between and our third Christmas here! Will always love this place ! There were a couple of small issues but overall it was superb! We had asked in advance for the South side of the property which they kindly gave us but last year I had booked the lanai room - this year I did not book that as we wanted to be higher up but got it anyway - cannot remember however if I had paid more to be higher up - but it's a lovely room though the same things that were broken last year - the blinds not closing, coffee pot handle hanging off and broken sink - were all still broken - add to that a shower that groaned loudly every time we turned it on and despite tipping housekeeping well - things like shower gel, coffees , towels were missing though they did apologize for that and take care of the resort fee! Last year they had a take out breakfast for platinum and above members which was great so you could be up and about on the beach early - this year we were told it was gone and it be only option was the Bento box at the restaurant where you had to eat in place! The breakfast is great though and always lovely staff ! BUT the room is still lovely, the resort stunning. Pools are lovely - we spent time at both the family pools and adult pools. The beach access is amazing and there appeared to be more lounges this time! Plenty of umbrellas and shade! The cabanas are also lovely and are our go to on Christmas Day and they deliver coolers with soft drinks , fruit and snacks! Great restaurants on property and I want to recognize Jerry who is always the best bar tender and Amy the Concierge who was so lovely and helped us set up our reservations ahead of time ! Always our go-to hotel in Hawaii

Right when we entered the lobby. It was a breath taking view. This was the first time on the Big Island and we picked this resort since we are Marriott members. The place is really amazing. Check in was a breeze. We got an ocean view room which was lovely. It was so pretty and nice. The place is super clean and the staff was so wonderful. We received breakfast each morning for free because of my status with Marriott. So amazing. The food was fantastic too. Crazy with all the birds trying to grab your food. I liked that it wasn't too crowded all around the resort. Every where was nicely kept up. The pool was great . If we ever come back to this island we will be staying here again.

The other half of our Hawaii vacation was Kona. Love it much here that if and when we will have another chance to come here, I will have our stay here. View of the ocean is always a plus and just a quiet, relaxing stay. Room cleaned everytime with ice bucket filled. Aloha all around with the staff. Check out their free activities and offers during your stay. Do room service if desired or just go down to their restaurants but check the hours of operation. There's also strategically placed water stations to fill up your free water bottle during your stay or whatver activities you have planned during your stay. Beach front was not crowded at any time of the day during our stay which was really great. Oh and if you so desire to eat out and not drive, there's a shuttle that goes to their sister resort Mauna Kean during dinner time. For a gift vacation, this was priceless experience!

This spot is as romantic and dreamy as you get. As soon as you drive your vehicle onto the property, you are greeted by a valet and someone to take your luggage. Get ready to tip everyone lol. This place was strategically engineered and designed. Every corner of this property has a view - we were really impressed. The rooms were spacious, clean and situated to see the ocean. The set up by the beach couldn't have been any better. They have two pools restaurants, bars and a snack shop. Bring money you will need it. You were greeted at the front desk with 2 cups of juice, chilled hand towels, and leis. We'd stay here again. Oh and a Free laundramat lol.

What a great way to start the day

It's been. Good 10+ yrs since I went to the Big Island and I had such great memories of The Prince Hotel Hapuna Resort... Westin has now taken over and it's still as amazing as I remembered it. The views. The environment. Just makes for a really relaxing vacation. There are so many great places to lounge around. Whether it be the bar/coffee area or one of the pools. We made sure to get our stay with the daily breakfast for two. Well worth it. Overall I think the Westin Hapuna is the BEST place to stay on the Big Island. Better than the Four Seasons where I had some family stay at.

    Our housekeeping aunty was AMAZING

this hotel is awesome!!! The staff are so kind, considerate, and hardworking! Mahalo nui loa to Virgil, who was so kind to accommodate us with a beautiful room, Keiki gifts, & anniversary champagne! There is a free laundry area that is amazing, especially with young Keiki! The pool and beach are so beautiful- truly stunning!! Also there is free purified water on every floor- which is HUGE! The workout room is awesome and has everything you could need!

Second stay here and couldn't imagine a better staycation. Hotel, pool, and staff service are all top notch. Not to mention, the hotel's mediterranean restaurant Meridia is outstanding. The location and beach view also gets 5 stars for beautiful views. If you're looking for a resort for peace and convenience, stay at the Westin Hapuna. Already can't wait to book another vacation. My wife and are making it a yearly tradition :)

We stayed here again for Thanksgiving week. We still absolutely love the property, but I have to mention the lack of some things that aren't typical of a nice resort like this. Having just stayed at the Four Seasons in Oahu these things are even more apparent this year than they were last year. First off (and I mentioned this in my last review), is the lack of light control. The heavy louvered doors let so much light in when the sun comes up that it's hard to sleep past the sunrise. Also the pillows aren't the best and are lumpy. The comforter they have on the beds is so heavy that it ends up on the floor in the middle of the night every night. And lastly, the faucets are placed so far over the sinks that it's hard to fit your face over the sink to wash your face without getting water all over the place. I know those seem like minor things, but when you pay to stay in a nice resort like this, they are pretty glaring. If they could fix those things then this might be one of my favorite resorts we've stayed in because the property is so nice. One of our favorite things to do is, after watching the sunset from the hotel, we go down to the adult pool to swim, sit in the hot tub and then lay on the lounge chairs as we listen to the surf and the piano music that someone plays every night from the hotel lobby. It's magical!

We had a lovely stay at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. The property and location are beautiful. The beach is so soft and beautiful. You'll be greet with a lei and they give you water bottles to use. Our room was a good size, bed was so comfy, and the view was wonderful! All pools were gorgeous, only thing missing was a slide. We enjoyed a few meals on property and they were all good. I wish there was a market or coffee shop you could walk to, you kinda have to stay on property unless you're willing too drive to another shopping center. They do have shuttles that can take you to the Mauna Kea. We did a few cultural activities and they were great. I would def come back here.

    View from the adult pool.

Breath taking views upon entering the lobby. They welcome you with fresh leis, wet towel and choice of Hawaiian drinks. Amenities are 10/10. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Staff are the best. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean.

    Piko Cafe!
    Kay O.

Year after year I've come here and it's ALWAYS surprise to me with it's beautiful. I love all the beautiful views, private white sand beach, food-cafe and love listening to the local history here! Make sure you talk to the front desk and get a hotel- local schedule and see what's going on within the hotel and the sister hotel.

This is a Burger King we were thrilled to find open one night.

I will be staying at this hotel mid November. Does anyone know when construction is expected to be completed?

They were starting to put in windows in some condos when we were there in July and had opened up sales on units so though they are behind and there will likely be some construction I doubt it will be jack hammers! We were not bothered by it at all

Is there free parking near by?

The hotel provides parking with stay! I believe you have to pay otherwise! There is a beach near by where people can park but it is a very long walk! You could park at public beach and walk along beach to hotel but again it is a long walk! Would…

The last few nights its been getting cloudy and windy and the pool feels pretty warm at night.

Today is March 20, 2019. Is construction still happening and if so does it effect the pool areas?

Yep....it's happening. Request a south tower room to avoid the noise.

Is pet friendly ? If so how much charge extra?

St. Bernard pup in the bar, and on the grounds the next morning. Yes. It's dog friendly.

Today is April 18th, 2018. Is the construction finished yet?

Aloha - mostly yes, but tower 5 (I think they call it the south tower now) and the new fitness center area at the bottom of tower 5 are still blocked off and producing some noise. The new adult pool, improved main pool, two restaurants and the bar…

I spent a considerable…read moreamount of time reviewing their floral offerings on their website before finally settling on one design. I specifically chose the design I did because of the floral content as well as the color scheme. I specifically chose one that did NOT have bold colors. I even spoke to the shop the day after I placed the order to confirm delivery time and no mention was made at all about needing to make any changes. This business apparently uses an iPhone for their business phone and employs text messaging. That's not a problem at all however it does demonstrate the ease at which communication regarding changes could have been. Instead they chose to use completely different and cheaper flowers in what they delivered vs what I ordered. I say cheaper because anyone who knows anything knows that mums are cheap and when it comes to Hawaii so are bird of paradise. They grow everywhere. I was told that "some of the flowers were out of season". Which ones? The noticeably missing ORCHIDS? I'm supposed to believe that orchids were "out of season" on a Hawaiian island where orchid leis abound? All I wanted was what I ordered. Nothing more, nothing less. It was intended to be for my sister who was getting married and it cost me $157!! If I wanted the flower type they gave me, I could have ordered a significantly LARGER arrangement for less money!! In the screenshots you can see the shop insisted they would go pick it back up and they would reach out to the bride. I felt this was disruptive but whatever. Well, they NEVER did that. This matters because of how they handled my dispute with PayPal. When I tried to follow up (as seen in the text conversation) they blocked me. I tried calling and it wouldn't even ring it was immediately sent to voicemail. That's what happens when you're blocked. I opened a dispute with PayPal since there was no further way for me to communicate. They first offered me $75 as a partial refund. Unacceptable. I'm not paying even $1 for something I didn't order. It takes time to move through the dispute process so approximately 2 weeks later they did offer a full refund. The catch? They wanted the item returned with a tracking number. What a scam. They knew full well that wasn't possible and would cause the case to be decided in their favor and they get to keep my money. What was I supposed to send them? A box of random dead flowers? Those flowers were long dead and in a Hawaiian landfill somewhere. They could have had their product back had they gone and picked it up like they said. They never even attempted to reach out to her. If I could give them zero stars I would. I'm not one to make negative reviews, I prefer to leave positive reviews because there are never enough of those, especially for small businesses. These people cheated me out of my money and I would never recommend them to anyone. Ever. I think they know how to work the system and have likely done this to people before. Shame on you for taking advantage of anyone in this economy where folks can barely afford groceries. Definitely no mahalo here.

The entire property is stunning EXCEPT the old tiled walkway to your room with a rolled out carpet runner. That was the only part that was like "finish the design job please" but I get it, #budgets. The room itself is totally fine but walking to the room I was surprised considering how flawlessly stunning, modern and upscale the rest of the grounds are. The valet and reception staff are beautiful, elegant, friendly, upscale. Borrow a cute Mauna Lani bike for free and ride over to the market or the Fairmont for some daytime snorkeling. The gym is well appointed and has a great water machine. The breakfast buffet is well worth the $60pp value. I think I ate enough sashimi to shut up about sashimi prices for a while. Their açaí bowl with house made granola is to die for. Most memorable was making friends with Viola, Hawaii's most valuable Tutu (grandma) at Halani. Her aloha spirit just blessed our entire trip with sunshine and love. I also got to meet Les from the kitchen at Halani and learn about Taro farming! I will forever consider them my new friends from the islands.

Our guide,…read moreMark, was incredible--he kept everyone talking and he was genuinely interested in hearing everyone's travel stories. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with a wealth of fascinating information about the island. After a comfortable van ride, we hiked a beautiful trail that led us to a series of truly stunning, pristine waterfalls. We were treated to a delicious lunch from a local deli, and we loved that it was served in eco-friendly, completely reusable containers. On the way back, we made a perfect final stop at a local macadamia nut store. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, and we recommend it!

The color of Mauna Kea with the moon shining on it was so magical all around us. There were some clouds that cleared pretty well by the end of our star gazing. We were the last ones up there so it got dark enough to see more than you'd expect with the moon. Jeff, our awesome tour guide, used a laser pointer to help us see the constellations we usually can't back at home. The images on the digital telescope like nebulas, the moon & star clusters were an amazing addition to have as keepsakes. My husband and I felt he made the tour a great balance of learning and fun. He had the group feeling like family before we even left from the pickup lot. Things to consider: I do recommend following the moons cycles booking this tour/your trip if this is especially important for you to see as many stars as possible. The sunset and views of the observatory's make it awesome anyways :) I struggled with altitude sickness around 12,000 ft. Jeff had made sure to let us know beforehand if we experienced any issues to speak up. I was hesitant as I know it would mean turning the whole tour around, but some tingling turned to dizziness and then a brief fainting. He immediately stopped the bus and helped ground me and make sure I was completely okay & coherent before letting me know our options for the tour. We made it up to the top with 2 more (included in tour) stops and I felt better with each one having more time to acclimate :) Thank you Jeff!! You handled this so professionally and I appreciate your check-ins for the rest of the trip. It's cold even with parka and gloves. It's so worth packing warm shoes and layers. The bus had ac and heat so that was great! Do it if you can! Awe-inspiring! Such an unreal environment that makes you wonder about so many things. Just take the precautions seriously, move slow and breathe deep.

The hotel has plenty of pools and restaurants but the chair management at the pool could be improved. It seemed like guests would reserve their chairs early and the chairs were not turned over once they left. We would walk by and see tons of towels showing chairs were claimed but no one in sight. The only pool that you are able to easily get a chair at is the spa fitness center pool. I worked closely with Shannon, Kehkoa, Indah (accounting) and the events team. While the pre-trip communication was a bit challenging due to time zone differences and delays (or lack) in responses, everything ran smoothly from the moment we arrived through the end of the trip. As the event planner for our President's Club trips, I stayed in a staff room and had no complaints! My room was in a prime location next to the pool, close to Ulu, a washer/dryer, the front desk, the beach garden and the amphitheater. While the staff on-site mentioned everything is within a 10-minute walk, I would challenge that as it really depends on your walking pace and tolerance for heat/humidity. Though there are plenty of [pricey] dining options to choose from on-site, it was frustrating fighting for breakfast, as there is only one designated breakfast spot-- Ulu. It didn't matter that I was a party of one or could be a party of 10, the wait times were horrendous no matter the size of your party. BE WARNED: service operates on island time, so either ask for the check upon getting your food or be patient and enjoy the waves and where you're at in the world. Note: There is a trading co in the front of the resort that is a full coffee bar and offers pastries, grab-and-go options, souvenirs, and various knick-knacks you may need. AMENITIES: There are 8 outdoor pools, one being a kids only pool (Keiki Pool) and one being a pond (King's Pond) where you can snorkel for free. If you don't have time to snorkel off-site, this a fun sample of what the Big Island has to offer. There's also a complimentary washer and dryer, complete with detergent and dryer sheets-- perfect for an extended stay and the many pool/beach days. If you ever need anything, your room may already have it. Check the drawer near the coffee machine. I forgot my phone charger at home and found an all-in-one charger in the drawer (at a cost-- $25). Planning these events can be stressful, especially when you're responsible for EVERYTHING. The events team and the front desk staff went above and beyond -- they even extended my check-out time to 8 PM, which was a huge help for me to finish packing my company's marketing materials and shipping them off.
