I have always loved this property and this year we celebrated 25 years since our first visit with many in-between and our third Christmas here! Will always love this place ! There were a couple of small issues but overall it was superb! We had asked in advance for the South side of the property which they kindly gave us but last year I had booked the lanai room - this year I did not book that as we wanted to be higher up but got it anyway - cannot remember however if I had paid more to be higher up - but it's a lovely room though the same things that were broken last year - the blinds not closing, coffee pot handle hanging off and broken sink - were all still broken - add to that a shower that groaned loudly every time we turned it on and despite tipping housekeeping well - things like shower gel, coffees , towels were missing though they did apologize for that and take care of the resort fee! Last year they had a take out breakfast for platinum and above members which was great so you could be up and about on the beach early - this year we were told it was gone and it be only option was the Bento box at the restaurant where you had to eat in place! The breakfast is great though and always lovely staff ! BUT the room is still lovely, the resort stunning. Pools are lovely - we spent time at both the family pools and adult pools. The beach access is amazing and there appeared to be more lounges this time! Plenty of umbrellas and shade! The cabanas are also lovely and are our go to on Christmas Day and they deliver coolers with soft drinks , fruit and snacks! Great restaurants on property and I want to recognize Jerry who is always the best bar tender and Amy the Concierge who was so lovely and helped us set up our reservations ahead of time ! Always our go-to hotel in Hawaii

Great resort on the Big Island, rooms were big and super clean. Great ocean view from the balcony. Dining options with beachfront views, beach chairs and umbrellas included. Great pools too! Service was very attentive and friendly.

Right when we entered the lobby. It was a breath taking view. This was the first time on the Big Island and we picked this resort since we are Marriott members. The place is really amazing. Check in was a breeze. We got an ocean view room which was lovely. It was so pretty and nice. The place is super clean and the staff was so wonderful. We received breakfast each morning for free because of my status with Marriott. So amazing. The food was fantastic too. Crazy with all the birds trying to grab your food. I liked that it wasn't too crowded all around the resort. Every where was nicely kept up. The pool was great . If we ever come back to this island we will be staying here again.

The other half of our Hawaii vacation was Kona. Love it much here that if and when we will have another chance to come here, I will have our stay here. View of the ocean is always a plus and just a quiet, relaxing stay. Room cleaned everytime with ice bucket filled. Aloha all around with the staff. Check out their free activities and offers during your stay. Do room service if desired or just go down to their restaurants but check the hours of operation. There's also strategically placed water stations to fill up your free water bottle during your stay or whatver activities you have planned during your stay. Beach front was not crowded at any time of the day during our stay which was really great. Oh and if you so desire to eat out and not drive, there's a shuttle that goes to their sister resort Mauna Kean during dinner time. For a gift vacation, this was priceless experience!

This spot is as romantic and dreamy as you get. As soon as you drive your vehicle onto the property, you are greeted by a valet and someone to take your luggage. Get ready to tip everyone lol. This place was strategically engineered and designed. Every corner of this property has a view - we were really impressed. The rooms were spacious, clean and situated to see the ocean. The set up by the beach couldn't have been any better. They have two pools restaurants, bars and a snack shop. Bring money you will need it. You were greeted at the front desk with 2 cups of juice, chilled hand towels, and leis. We'd stay here again. Oh and a Free laundramat lol.

What a great way to start the day

It's been. Good 10+ yrs since I went to the Big Island and I had such great memories of The Prince Hotel Hapuna Resort... Westin has now taken over and it's still as amazing as I remembered it. The views. The environment. Just makes for a really relaxing vacation. There are so many great places to lounge around. Whether it be the bar/coffee area or one of the pools. We made sure to get our stay with the daily breakfast for two. Well worth it. Overall I think the Westin Hapuna is the BEST place to stay on the Big Island. Better than the Four Seasons where I had some family stay at.

Second stay here and couldn't imagine a better staycation. Hotel, pool, and staff service are all top notch. Not to mention, the hotel's mediterranean restaurant Meridia is outstanding. The location and beach view also gets 5 stars for beautiful views. If you're looking for a resort for peace and convenience, stay at the Westin Hapuna. Already can't wait to book another vacation. My wife and are making it a yearly tradition :)

We stayed here again for Thanksgiving week. We still absolutely love the property, but I have to mention the lack of some things that aren't typical of a nice resort like this. Having just stayed at the Four Seasons in Oahu these things are even more apparent this year than they were last year. First off (and I mentioned this in my last review), is the lack of light control. The heavy louvered doors let so much light in when the sun comes up that it's hard to sleep past the sunrise. Also the pillows aren't the best and are lumpy. The comforter they have on the beds is so heavy that it ends up on the floor in the middle of the night every night. And lastly, the faucets are placed so far over the sinks that it's hard to fit your face over the sink to wash your face without getting water all over the place. I know those seem like minor things, but when you pay to stay in a nice resort like this, they are pretty glaring. If they could fix those things then this might be one of my favorite resorts we've stayed in because the property is so nice. One of our favorite things to do is, after watching the sunset from the hotel, we go down to the adult pool to swim, sit in the hot tub and then lay on the lounge chairs as we listen to the surf and the piano music that someone plays every night from the hotel lobby. It's magical!

We had a lovely stay at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. The property and location are beautiful. The beach is so soft and beautiful. You'll be greet with a lei and they give you water bottles to use. Our room was a good size, bed was so comfy, and the view was wonderful! All pools were gorgeous, only thing missing was a slide. We enjoyed a few meals on property and they were all good. I wish there was a market or coffee shop you could walk to, you kinda have to stay on property unless you're willing too drive to another shopping center. They do have shuttles that can take you to the Mauna Kea. We did a few cultural activities and they were great. I would def come back here.

    View from the adult pool.

Breath taking views upon entering the lobby. They welcome you with fresh leis, wet towel and choice of Hawaiian drinks. Amenities are 10/10. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Staff are the best. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean.

    Piko Cafe!

Year after year I've come here and it's ALWAYS surprise to me with it's beautiful. I love all the beautiful views, private white sand beach, food-cafe and love listening to the local history here! Make sure you talk to the front desk and get a hotel- local schedule and see what's going on within the hotel and the sister hotel.

This is a Burger King we were thrilled to find open one night.

Ask the Community - The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort

I will be staying at this hotel mid November. Does anyone know when construction is expected to be completed?

They were starting to put in windows in some condos when we were there in July and had opened up sales on units so though they are behind and there will likely be some construction I doubt it will be jack hammers! We were not bothered by it at all

Is there free parking near by?

The hotel provides parking with stay! I believe you have to pay otherwise! There is a beach near by where people can park but it is a very long walk! You could park at public beach and walk along beach to hotel but again it is a long walk! Would…

Is his hotel fun for a family with toddlers?? Boys ages 4&2?

Yes! The beach is really only the best swimming beach on island! The pool is fun and if you like white sandy beaches to build sand castles this beach is great! Staff friendly and I think they have kids camp! Our boys are older but lived it! Not sure…

The last few nights its been getting cloudy and windy and the pool feels pretty warm at night.

Today is March 20, 2019. Is construction still happening and if so does it effect the pool areas?

Yep....it's happening. Request a south tower room to avoid the noise.

Is pet friendly ? If so how much charge extra?

St. Bernard pup in the bar, and on the grounds the next morning. Yes. It's dog friendly.

Today is April 18th, 2018. Is the construction finished yet?

Aloha - mostly yes, but tower 5 (I think they call it the south tower now) and the new fitness center area at the bottom of tower 5 are still blocked off and producing some noise. The new adult pool, improved main pool, two restaurants and the bar…

Housekeeping was inconsistent at best: personal items had been moved in ways we found inappropriate, bed linens went unchanged for stretches, and the towels bore visible stains on two different occasions. Most concerning was a basic hygiene failure we witnessed directly: a housekeeper handled the trash bin and then, without changing gloves or washing hands, proceeded to handle and place our fresh towels. One of the best things about this property is how easy it is to get around. Unlike larger resorts where you feel like you're constantly walking from one end to the other, everything here is close and accessible. It creates a much more relaxed and cozy experience. The beach is also within easy walking distance, whether you choose to go left or right. Another major advantage is the location across the street from two shopping malls, both offering restaurants and shopping options. The convenience of being able to walk to everything is truly priceless. If I'm remembering correctly, the malls are called King and Queen, or something very similar. In one of them, there is also a grocery store that is impressive in its own right, with cooked food and a wide variety of items you might need during your stay on the island--or even if you are not staying there. I will review that grocery store separately in another post. Overall, this is a great choice for anyone who values convenience, walkability, and a more intimate resort setting.

The property still has the bones of the incredible resort I remember, but it's clearly showing its age. I don't know whether the recent earthquake contributed to it, but there was noticeable deterioration throughout the resort...from the buildings to the pool areas. It just didn't have the polished, well-maintained feel I remembered. What surprised me even more was how much has changed. Many of the restaurants and bars that made the resort feel lively are gone, leaving far fewer dining options than before. One of my favorite parts of staying here was hopping on the canal boats to get between the towers, but those are no longer operating as transportation. While the tram is still available, losing the boats takes away a lot of the unique charm that made this resort stand out. We still enjoyed spending time together as a family, and the grounds remain beautiful, but for the price, I expected a much better experience. I truly hope Hilton invests in restoring this property to what it once was, because it has the potential to be one of Hawaiʻi's premier destination resorts again.

While we ultimately had too many people to make that work, we knew from our first visit that we wanted this special property, and the wonderful people who steward it, to be part of our nuptial celebration. We ended up hosting our rehearsal dinner here in September 2022 and, my friends, it was absolutely magical. The property itself is stunning, with a gorgeous tree canopy and colorful blooms everywhere. There are plenty of great places for a golden hour photoshoot, which we took full advantage of! They waited patiently for us to finish our photos then ushered us to our tables, which were beautiful decorated with 'olena flowers from their garden. There were so many beautiful, special touches that went above and beyond our expectations. For example, when we arrived Chef Erika adorned my husband and I with ti leaf leis they had made for us. As we sat down for dinner Chef Erika gave a Hawaiian blessing and thanked the land for providing such a bounty for us to enjoy. The food, oh my goodness the food... it was SO GOOD!! I love that they source as much as possible from their own property and from other local farmers and ranchers. Everything was so fresh and prepared beautifully. Plus, they were able to accommodate my nephew's very severe nut and dairy allergy without any issues, which we all really appreciated. They let us bring our own wine for a very reasonable corkage fee and the bottle service was gracious and timely, with never an empty glass. They also nailed the timing of the dinner, we never felt rushed nor was there too much time between courses. It was just perfect! Everyone in our party was totally blown away. They were expecting the typical rehearsal dinner at a restaurant or something and this overdelivered in the best possible way. It felt so intimate and private, just what we wanted. We all still talk about what an amazing night it was. Jesse, Madeline, and Chef Erika were such wonderful hosts, and they were great to communicate with before the event via email too. The team here truly embodies the aloha spirit. We are so very grateful for the experience they curated for us on our special night. I highly recommend Starseed Ranch for any special occasion gathering you might be hosting!! Their property, their team, their food, their aloha, is second to none.
