I've stayed at a lot of nice resorts (Ritz, Four Seaons, etc) and this one ranks way up there. Enjoyed it better than the Grand Wailea on Maui, much better food and the lagoon beach with all the turtle sightings was magical. Check out the petroglyphs within a short walk. Free shuttle around the greater Mani Lani resort. Price is no bargain but on par with what you'd expect at a 5-star resort in Hawaii.

We have been coming to the Fairmont Orchid yearly for the past 6 years and it just keeps getting better. As a Silver member we get early check in and late check out. They let us stay in our room till 6pm because we had a 9:30pm flight. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with all the amenities you desire (coffee bar, beautiful reusable water bottles, le Labo toiletries). Service is always 5 stars from the room cleaning staff to pool attendants to all the restaurant servers. The breakfast buffet is a perfect blend of western and Hawaiian specialties. We also enjoyed the beach restaurant and upscale Browns. We had two 11 year olds and they had an extensive children's menu above and beyond the usual fare. At Brown's they have a filet mignon for kids that was amazing. The beach is one of the best on the island with calm and clear waters for excellent snorkeling (turtles, colorful fish, eels, sea urchins). We are already looking forward to our next trip!

The bay that this hotel sits on is an underrated snorkeling spot, and your hotel resort fee includes snorkel rental. Staff was friendly, and checkin went smooth (though did take a while to get through the line. The room was clean and modern and elegant. The TV interface needed updating and to include streaming, but otherwise everything else was perfect. The on-property restaurants were expensive but delicious. There is only one small hot tub, which fills up quickly, which is the one downside. Water stations were available in plenty of locations and you get a nice double-wall stainless water bottle in room. Parking was inexpensive.

Amazing location! A famous quote of location, location, location! I truly believe that this is one part of the truth. The location was great and you can get amazing views of the beach. There were amenities that we enjoyed from the snorkeling, beach aerobics, palm frond weaving, hula class, culture walks, and the garden experience (just to name a few). We learned about the history of the island not limited to petroglyphs (carving on hot lava). The resort have places to have a great meal but shuttles are provided to the nearby shops if you wanted to explore off property. The whole experience was great and I would mind coming back. The staff was great all around.

1317 south tower Pros: Free, convenient parking Water bottles provided with water stations all over the grounds 24 hour pool and fitness center Cons: Room didn't have black out shades Room not cool enough at night. Check in was super easy. The lady checking us in was very friendly and informative. We dropped of our luggage in the front and it was in the room before we even got to it. The room was spacious. We got a two queen bed room. The beds were comfortable. It did get pretty hot at night. It would wake me up because it was just muggy. I do take my own fan on vacation, so this helped. The room also has a couch and table. They have complimentary nespresso coffee and tea. If you like tea, they have the best earl grey tea that I have had in quite a while. There is a mini fridge that worked well. The closet has enough hangers. An iron is provided. A safe is available. Bathroom: spacious. It had a standing shower on one side and a tub with shower on the other. The vanity had two sinks. The toilet is separated by a door. They had plenty of towels. Toiletries include shampoo, conditions, shower gel and lotion. The grounds: beautiful. You really feel like you're in paradise. Beach: small, but perfect for the amount of people there. There was plenty of lounge chairs. No natural shade was available. They did have some chairs with cover for rent. You can snorkel right off the beach and see some pretty fish and turtles. Towels were available at the rental hut. They do have waiter service. Expect resort prices. For two cocktails plus tip, it was $50. Pool: loved that it was open 24/7. Plenty of lounge chairs. Amenities: I used the gym. It was clean with plenty of equipment. They had towels, including cool towels. Tips: there's a two grocery stores nearby.

Beautiful!!! I have so many adjectives I could use to describe this resort. We had an amazing stay. The rooms were spacious. The extra touch with a refillable water bottle and refilling stations throughout!! Loved this. Cool souvenir to take home as well. The beach was nice- highly recommend a cabana rental. It's $150 for the day. You get a cooler with waters and juices. The restaurants were all really good as well.

This is an absolutely beautiful resort slightly north of Kona. We booked it through a Black Friday 25% off deal, which was still $600+ per night. However, this place has it all. The beach area is awesome, great for snorkeling & seeing sea turtles and whales! We had breakfast at the coffee shop the first morning and saw a full whale breach while sitting looking at the water. Saw them another day while walking on the beach. The pool and hot tub is awesome! Drinks are great but tiny for $20 a pop. They do give you leis when you arrive but no one greeted us and so we walked up to check in and the lady was like... oh they missed you. Then she gave them to us. Would've been nice to be greeted upon arrival. They do give you really nice keepsake water bottles because they have filtered water stations throughout the property. I thought this was a nice touch. Their concierge is also very helpful. They will book tours for you and were nice enough to print our fishing licenses for us. We didn't eat at any of the on site restaurants while we were staying because there were places out and about we wanted. We also missed the hotel's luau and had to go find a different one. They only do their on Saturday. Well, our flight got delayed and we didn't arrive until very late. Not their fault but it would be nice if they had more than one per week. Parking is free. That was nice because we did have a rental car. All in all, I don't know if I would stay here again because we are on the go people and the money just wasn't worth it. However, if you literally don't want to see anything else on the island, this is great.

A luxury high class hotel and resort on the beautiful Kona coast of Hawai'i. The IRONMAN Hawai'i 70.3 Kona HONU is held annually here and provides a spectacular race environment. The hotel amenities is first rate in every aspect. Highly recommend.

What can I say, my wife said this is where we needed to be for our honeymoon and she was right. Service from the hotel staff has been great. Everyone greets us and says good morning or 'mahalo' We did not enjoy the 3rd party company hosting events Cetera or something. They kicked my wife off of part of the beach claiming they had sole access for a few hours. Eden, the MOD, immediately informed me that was not the case and offered to escort us back to our spot. Unfortunately we had excursions the next two days so instead she gave us a free cabana for the day by the beach 2 days later! What a treat!! We both burn easy, and they picked a special spot all by itself self along the outer cove. Wife is more than thrilled. Thank you to the staff for handling this with grace. Couples Massage was great and super relaxing, Casey and her male colleague (forgot his name sorry man) were professional and we felt in good hands. Trinity took such great care of us by the beach during service hours, and convinced me to pay for the last day! Overall will be coming back, snorkeling here is so amazing so many colorful fish and reefs, not to mention the numerous sea turtles that hangout here/pop their head-sup in the middle of the cove.

This place is magical. The staff is so welcoming and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The concierge helped us book several excursions. Our room was spacious and clean and they came every day to give fresh towels and freshen bedding. We enjoyed the many food options and indulged in a massage at Spa without Walls.

Do they offer a sunday brunch buffet?

They have a wonderful buffet breakfast every day. We really enjoyed it. An omelet station, amazing smoked salmon and many other options

Is there afternoon high tea service available at any of the restaurants in this resort?

No. It seems like most restaurants aren't even open during the day. When we were there only the pool restaurant was open.

Does anyone have photos of the gym?

Hi! Are there kayaks or canoes for guests to use in the lagoon?

    Paddle boards are for rent

Would I stay here again? Probably, depending on the circumstances. However, it wouldn't be my first choice. Biggest Issues: -Cleanliness Unfortunately, our room did not feel clean when we arrived. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, a dead cockroach on the floor, dead moths, and noticeable dust buildup along the baseboards and behind the TV. I know some of the rooms have been renovated, but we weren't fortunate enough to receive one of those. - Resort Size & Getting Around This resort is huge, which can be either a positive or a negative depending on where you're staying. One of the biggest disappointments was that the canal boats were not operating. I found out they had been out of service for over a month for maintenance with no estimated reopening date. My kids would have absolutely loved riding them, so that was a letdown. The tram system also needs improvement. If you happen to miss one, expect to wait around 45 minutes for it to come back. It makes several stops across the property, and there really should be two trams running at all times. We had a heavy stroller, and lifting it onto the tram often felt like more work than simply walking. ** Choosing the Right Tower Matters We stayed in the Ocean Tower, which is the farthest from the lobby and most of the restaurants. The upside is that it's closest to the pool with the lazy river and smaller water slides. There's also a pool bar, a coffee shop with pastries and açaí bowls, a small gift shop, and laundry facilities (although every laundry rooms we checked was out of order). Even though we didn't pay for an ocean-view room, we could still see the ocean from our balcony, which was a nice surprise. If I stayed in this tower again, I'd request either a renovated room or a ground-floor room with direct access to Buddha's Point and the pool area. Even getting from our room to the nearby pool felt like a trek. The Palace Tower has the nicest appearance and reminds me of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. It's centrally located, so nothing is excessively far away. I also heard these rooms have been renovated, making it a good choice if having a nice room is your priority. That said, it's not particularly close to the main attractions besides the Italian restaurant, which is only open for dinner. Personally, I don't think I'd choose this tower. If I came back, I'd most likely stay in the Makai Tower. It's closest to the lagoon, the major pools, and several dining options, making it much easier to get around. It's still not directly next to everything, but there's an elevator that makes getting to the pools and restaurants much easier, especially for anyone using a stroller or wheelchair. Traveling with a stroller made this resort more challenging than I expected. While there are accessible routes, they're often indirect and time-consuming. For example, walking from our room to the Lagoon Grill took over 30 minutes. For families with young children or anyone with mobility limitations, that's something to seriously consider when choosing a room location. Dining Having multiple restaurants on-site was convenient, but the operating hours weren't. The three main restaurants--the fine dining restaurant, Italian restaurant, and Tap Room--only opened for dinner. The breakfast buffet was expensive, although there were less expensive plated breakfast options available until around 10:00 a.m. Between breakfast ending and dinner restaurants opening, it sometimes felt surprisingly difficult to find food late in the morning or early afternoon. The good news is there are several restaurants and shopping centers just a few minutes away, and the resort offers a paid shuttle service if you don't have a car. You could easily spend your entire vacation without leaving the property. Overall, we still had a good trip. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful, and there are definitely things to enjoy about this resort. However, it feels like a property that has enormous potential but could really benefit from better maintenance, improved transportation, and more attention to cleanliness. With a little extra care and investment, I think this resort could become a truly great destination again.

I was able to get a room upgrade and had an amazing view! This resort is absolutely stunning. I love that there was a little bay that had calmer water for little ones and those of us who just wanted to relax and float in the water. I also love that they have some chairs up on a little viewing deck near the ocean that you can just sit and chill at as well. They also have an adults only pool, which is great and it is pretty kid friendly which is also awesome. The entire properties laid out really nicely and still makes you feel like you're in the secluded area. There are a lot of food options on site, which is nice. There's also a couple of shopping centers up the road where you can get food as well. The food at the resort is pretty awesome to me. I loved breakfast! It was so delicious and that donut wall and pastry table had me in the chokehold daily. I loved sitting on the bay. There's so much to do and you have a lot of water activities available to you. I recommend getting the pass (about $80) while you're there, because it's worth it if you want to rent any of the paddle boards. Noodles are free to use. Drinks are available on the beach and there's a little shack for snacks if you're looking for tacos or a quick bite. The rooms are standard but just beautiful. The lanai is amazing and so restful. I really loved the small touches at this place. I love that they had a welcome tray of snacks waiting for me when I came back from the pool my first day, and then they turned my bed down every single night and left me with an inspirational card. It really is the small touches that went such a long way. I probably would say that my only slight recommendation is for the spa to be a little more exclusive or have more to it. But I will say that I loved the massage hut. Those were just absolutely amazing and nothing beats it. If you can get one overlooking the beach. Go for it. But, being in a massage hut in general anywhere on the property is worth it. I would recommend renting a car, because there's just so much to do on the big island. Do you want to be able to get around and you can always take rideshare, but it's worth it to be able to have the freedom to come and go as you please. This was an amazing trip with amazing service, I really can't wait to go back.

One of the best things about this property is how easy it is to get around. Unlike larger resorts where you feel like you're constantly walking from one end to the other, everything here is close and accessible. It creates a much more relaxed and cozy experience. The beach is also within easy walking distance, whether you choose to go left or right. Another major advantage is the location across the street from two shopping malls, both offering restaurants and shopping options. The convenience of being able to walk to everything is truly priceless. If I'm remembering correctly, the malls are called King and Queen, or something very similar. In one of them, there is also a grocery store that is impressive in its own right, with cooked food and a wide variety of items you might need during your stay on the island--or even if you are not staying there. I will review that grocery store separately in another post. Overall, this is a great choice for anyone who values convenience, walkability, and a more intimate resort setting.

Hotel has seen better days... rugs in the hallway are worse than at Comfort Inn or smth along that line. The room was sooo small. We lived on 6th floor and water pressure was like... man tears. Could wash my hair properly or flash #2 down the toilet from the first try. Hotel staff was nice: front desk, concierge, housekeeping. The restaurant staff is just rude (including older lady at coffee shop). We were served undercooked eggs with runny whites twice on different occasions, expired can of kombucha, undercooked inside but burned outside beef patty. For the price they charge it's disgusting. The water slide never worked the hours it supposed to be open. The worst part of a stay was flies infestation. You can't stay by the pool without like 5 of them on you at the same time. They also ruined the beautiful experience we had during sunset luau dinner. Which is the only thing I can recommend at this location.

The follow-up reply from the host was, "We get really used to them because they are everywhere in our tropical environment much better than spiders!" I am no stranger to the Big Island, this is my 5th time here this year. I am here at least twice a year. My mom is from Hilo and her entire family is here. This is the only rental or hotel I have stayed at on the Island that has had roaches inside the unit. The property was beautiful, very nicely appointed and clean, except for the roaches. When we started using the kitchen there were roaches. I moved the trash can from under the sink and spotted the first one. We sprayed it and other roaches scattered. The spray only slowed them enough to get them with a newspaper. I called and emailed the host. She said someone would bring traps and have the service come. The traps were delivered and placed under the sink. She said the service would be by later, but no one came. The next day, my sister had to kill a roach in her room, my son killed a roach in his sister's bed and the downstairs shower. My daughter opened the dishwasher and saw at least 10 roaches scatter. Before we left we made a video and sent to the host. I really felt as if I was being blown off as if I was just a complainer and my concerns about the roaches were unwarranted. Not what I expected from a "Luxury Property".

I have seen many ocean sunrises and in my lifetime but this view was breathtaking! I had to run back to get my wife to come in just to see the sunset. It was the first impression of this resort which would captivate our senses for the rest of the stay and the next stay, and beyond. As a guest we were treated to 5 star service! The Aloha spirit seems to be in the hearts of all the staff! The Live entertainment on weekends is special, and all you can eat Buffet once a month is worth waiting for! There is so much to do right in the resort from snorkeling and swimming where sea turtles hang out, to enjoying the many pools and spas.....and it is perfectly located to enjoy sunsets, and day trips across the island! Kona is very close and if you love coffee it is a short trip to the many Kona coffee farms! The rooms are spacious, spotless and comfortable ! Room service is immediate and all staff friendly and helpful. I hate to recommend this most perfect of getaways because my wife and I want this place all to ourselves, but this resort, staff, and our gratitude for the experience deserve a 5 star experience rating!
