For a music venue the setup is pretty good for food. You have concessions, but also a food court area with food trucks, although the lines can be long. The venue itself is really good. Stage is plenty big and to have the water close by makes it even better. Only complaint is if you are sitting in the middle areas, it is relatively flat so if people stand it is hard to see over them. There is one section that has a change of your view being somewhat obstructed so check your seating. Parking was easy. Leaving takes some time but not too bad. read more

Attended the Keith Urban concert there, great venue for a concert. The sound, lights, all were great. Concessions were a little expensive. Parking and exiting the venue after the concert was over was a nightmare! It was pretty much every man for themselves. There wasn't any rhyme nor reason for anything that was happening. We were instructed to park in a certain lot in order to head east once we left, but nope, that wasn't the case. The police that were directing traffic at one point just up and left, leaving a traffic nightmare. It took almost an hour just to get out of the parking lot and another 30 minutes to get to a main road. You would think that a concert venue would have a parking and exit plan for the attendees, it appears that the Wharf does not. Will not be attending another concert there. read more

The Wharf Amphitheater is one of my favorite music venues. I have been to several other, much larger venues in Maryland and Virginia, but the size of The Wharf's Amphitheater is amazing! It only seats around 10,000 but it never feels so crowded that you are like a sardine (though the bench seating can feel cramped at times). The entry and exits are easy to transit through -- security lines have never been more than a few minutes for us. One of our favorite parts of The Wharf Amphitheater is the large acts that come in, while it still feels like a small town concert with a few thousand close friends. We have seen Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Jimmy Buffett, Walker Hayes, Dierks Bentley, Lainey Wilson, Ingrid Andress, Hardy and more. Not to mention a few others that we missed but who have also played here recently: Jelly Roll and Alabama. I have only sat in the 100 or 200 section, as well as stood in the pit. I prefer the Pit (standing room only) or section 100 (foldable chair), but sections 200 and 300 are benches, so they can feel a little cramped at times. We have never sat up in the 300 section, but our friends have said it's still a great view of the entire show. There is not a bad seat in the house (from my experience). You have a great view of the stage, and even from the last row, you're closer to the stage than other venues. The ticket prices fluctuate depending on the act, but from my past concert experience, The Wharf Amphitheater ticket prices are below the norm. While not unexpected, the prices of food and drinks are high and have been increasing. It's expected that prices are going to be high, so my wife and I will normally just grab a large bag of kettle corn (only $11) and one drink which is a pretty good deal for us. Some of the other prices are a bit higher -- but we are willing to pay them if we are looking to add to our experience. I have never seen any rowdiness or security issues that normally come with drinking, fun, and loads of people. It's is overall a very chill venue but a great time to party. Even though parking can be a little difficult to find closer to the start of the concert, anytime my wife and I have arrived at/before the gates opening (usually 5:30), we have been able to find parking less than 100' from one of the gates. Even still, we have never not been able to find a parking spot, though we may have to walk a bit. And leaving is actually a pretty smooth process so matter where you parked or where you are heading. We can get from our seats and back on the main road away from traffic in ~20-30 minutes. The music from Whiskey Myers and The Black Crowes was solid, but the crowd at this venue was a total trainwreck.The only saving graces were that parking was easy and free, and the cheap $30 ticket price makes it hard to stay truly angry. On the bright side, the drink lines were incredibly short, though that likely just fueled the chaos around us. This was easily the trashiest event I have ever attended.The heat was brutal for late May, and the venue's setup did nothing to help. The port-a-johns were pitch-black dark inside. On the walk back to our car, we even passed two different people completely passed out in the grass.The absolute breaking point happened during the concert itself. People were constantly smoking right behind us, and we ended up leaving two songs into the finale because the couple directly in front of us was actively about to engage in full-on intercourse right there in the crowd.Save your money and your sanity. If you come here, pay extra for premium seating to get away from the chaos, or just put on a CD and stay at home. read more

I have attended several here and there's not a bad seat in the house, last night's was the 50th anniversary tour of the Doobie Brothers and it was fantastic. The Wharf Amphitheatre is a wide-open concert space with just under 10,000 available seats across three sections. You can purchase tickets at the onsite box office and tickets are available online at ticketmaster.com. The Wharf's sprawling free parking lots offer ample territory for tailgating ahead of shows with handicap parking, which is handicap accessible, plus premier parking. That parking can be purchased with concert tickets and is located right behind gate 4. There's public restrooms and concessions that serve snacks, beer and wine. The Wharf is an official Entertainment District with lots of family-friendly events throughout the year, including the nightly Laser Light Experience show, fireworks, live music, DJ's, kid's events and much more. There's shopping at unique stores and a wide variety of meals at a number of restaurants. There,'s arcades, a movie theater, zip line, ferris wheel or train ride, and on-the-water excursion at the Wharf marina. Saw Dave Matthews here last night. Definitely recommend NOT going when it is any hotter than 80 degrees. While we were able to chill out most people could not settle down to enjoy the show, constant movement and activity bc of the heat and uncomfortable seats, bleachers. Not people dancing and enjoying the show, just wandering looking for fans, relief etc. EMS took a few people out before the show had barely started. While all venues like this are overpriced, at least there is actual alcohol in the drinks. The frozen daiquiri with a shot tasted like absolutely nothing. Stick to the canned drinks bc they have to be watering the alcohol way down. Couldn't even taste the fruit flavor much less what was supposedly a shot of rum that was served as a sidecar. The parking situation is abysmal. They need more staff to direct and manage. When we came out of the concert, they had blocked certain parts of the parking lot off so it took us a long time to walk around the barriers they set up to get to our car. read more

Went to see Dave Mathews here during a fabulous beach vacation and this venue was the lone disappointment. This amphitheater is part of a large outdoor mall. We arrived early and had a fabulous dinner. The website said we were required to have clear bags or a wristlet smaller than 5x7. So I paid $70 at a boutique in the mall in order to comply with the rules. As I stood in line I watched woman after woman walk in with giant hobo purses and backpacks. While I'm sure they were happy the rule wasn't enforced I found it frustrating that the requirements were set of not actually required. So I was annoyed before we even sat down. Concession choices were comparable to a college frat party. Choices included 3 beers all of which were lite lagers. Coors lite, Michelob Ultra, or Miller lite. I settled for wine in a box. Luckily we ate before we got there because nachos were the only food choice. Then, once we arrived at our seats we were appalled to find that our $200 a piece seats were actually over sold metal bleachers. Keep in mind, this is July in Alabama so the heat was radiating off the seats. There was nobody in our row who was particularly over weight but once we all found our seats there was not actually enough room to sit. I tried scooting into nearby empty seats but once everyone arrived there was literally not enough room to sit. To top off being inexcusably overcrowded and hot this "non-smoking " venue quickly became filled with a fog of cigarettes and other assorted smokes. There were absolutely no security to enforce this rule and it was intolerably uncomfortable. Not to mention the fact that we were surrounded by young kids wearing adorable shirts announcing their first Dave show. Dave needs to know this venue is a mess and they should be ashamed to have asked such discomfort from their loyal fans. read more

We came here for the USSSA World Series opening ceremony. So, I have no idea how the acoustics are or anything like that. When you enter the wharf area it is lined with souvenir shops. Now when you enter there is a parking lot so we automatically thought that is where you should park. If you drive further through the wharf there is more parking closer to the amphitheater. Since we walked all over the amphitheater trading pins I noticed that there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. They all had an excellent view of the stage. read more

It's kind of a cool entry, you walk across a raised wooden sidewalk type thang. The sound was good. The rear of the venue is high school style bleachers (no back rest) so not the most comfortable. The best part about this place and I was shocked when I discovered it... They have Makers Mark. So they gain 01 full star for that. I had SEVERAL Makers Marks... and was feelin' nice. read more

We went here for the Imagine Dragons Evolve tour and the facility was wonderful. Huge stage, good security, and amazing performances. They got us in prompt and it was easy to find our seats. The sound and lighting was a spectacle to behold on its own. Would come back for more concerts. read more

I recently attended the Hank Jr concert here. This was our first time to this venue, and honestly might be our last. There is no paved parking. It was sandy lots, and now I have to vacuum sand out of my car. The seating area itself is no smoking. That information was flashed MULTIPLE times on the big screen. There is a designated smoking area near the concessions. We had people vaping, smoking cigarettes and weed around us. Cops right below us. Said nothing about it. What other people choose to do to their lungs is their business. But that's not my choice, and for you to blow that garbage out where I have to breathe is disrespectful. Also a fight broke out and disturbed at least four rows of people. Again, cops were not concerned. Drinks were very overpriced at $16.50 and the best whiskey they sold was Jim Beam. For the two small drinks we got, we could have bought a whole bottle of Maker's. There was no air conditioning in the restrooms, so it felt like walking into an oven. Just no real positives about the venue in my experience. read more

I am giving 4 stars for the Sound Alone! I've seen many shows in many venues and this sound is amazing. Now the negative side, I have a bad back, apparently at Country shows people like to stomp their feet on the raised corrugated metal bleacher style seats which sent a shock up my spine so I had to leave my wife to watch while I looked for a bench to sit on and let her enjoy the show. I never found a bench nor a seat that any staff would allow me to sit in so I left the show and went to the truck and waited until it was over. So my only complaint is more of a suggestion to the venue, Put some benches up for people with disabilities to sit down on please. Other than that its a cool place, oh parking is a nightmare and so is exiting. I suggest taking a taxi or Uber to the venue and back. read more

Me and a date went to the Jim Gaffigan show here. The parking situation was pretty decent so that was a good thing. I only had 2 complaints. I didn't realize it was an outdoor venue and the website doesn't say it is, so be aware of that. And the seating was basicly cramped folding chairs that were fairly uncomfortable. It is a nice place though and we did enjoy ourselves considering. They have concessions at reasonable prices and a nice setup. Just plan to be cramped and sweating the whole time if you're going between march & november. The Alabama coast is always hot & muggy. read more

Saw a 311 show in 2009 here. Travelled down from NJ to see it. The Wharf was an interesting place. Most concert places are off some main interstate road, by themselves. This place is behind an outdoor, upscale mall. Orange Beach is this very upscale beach town which (Im from NJ) the mall reminds me of this outdoor mall in Long Branch, NJ. So the place overlooks the mall, but its a regular, large venue seating your typical 10000-15000 people. Not a ton of tailgating going on but some was. Lots of good lookin' girls I remember. Other than that, that's about it. Just know that you're hanging out in an upscale area when you go there. read more

I came here to see twenty one pilots live. First of all, the situation regarding general admission was very confusing. People with general admission tickets were told to come to the venue by 4:30pm and were told they would be let in the venue at 4:30. However, we were not let in due to inclement weather warnings. After the weather passed, it was 6:45pm, 15 mins before the concert started. General admission ticket holders were let in an extremely unorganized and confusing manner. The staff had difficulty communicating with guests. We didn't know what the hell was going on. Additionally, because of the inclement weather, we assumed the concert would be pushed back an hour or two so we could watch the whole concert. This wasn't the case. We were desperately waiting outside and at 7pm, we were shocked to hear that the concert began even when most of the guests weren't in their seats!! We entered the venue about 30 mins late, missing the first act. This made security to be very sloppy and not very diligent. Went to see 21 pilots here. Had a great time aside from a few things. The only thing was it rained towards the end of the show. Ended up being cut short. There is no roof or cover there . Not to mention that it's made out of aluminum (great conductor of electricity)But,the staff was helpful and friendly. The show was AWESOME. read more

I went to see Hootie and the Blowfish at The Wharf. The music was amazing and I'm glad the rain held off for the entire evening. This was my first time at this outdoor venue and I was very disappointed in how it is managed. First, tickets had to be presented on your phone - no paper tickets accepted - but they failed to tell you to take a screen shot due to NO CELL coverage. The line formed at the Ticket office with folks who struggled to down load their tickets. There is NO staff available to offer assistance with seating or if any other concern comes up. The drinks are expensive, which I expected, no matter what it is. I was glad to see that a non-profit group was using proceeds for local projects for children and youth. If you do not look at the parking chart on their website, there is no way of knowing how cars will be directed after the concert - east or west depending on where you park. Also, those that made the feeble attempt to direct traffic were teenagers on their phones who have had no training or direction about traffic. This is sad considering the big names they have booked at this venue. I wish we had an indoor option available in Baldwin County. read more

This is the most unorganized place for parking and entering the venue!!! And people are just everywhere. No staff to keep people where they need to be seated. What's the point in having tickets with specific seats??? Drinks are over the top expensive and very small!!! The seating is metal bleachers that are very dirty, like stuff stuck on them! No food sold except popcorn. Oh and if attending a concert as we did, you need to arrive several hours early. We got there three hours before it started and still missed the first hour as they have no traffic control and the toll bridge takes forever to go through and the parking is just a JOKE!!! This venue needs work. Yes, the weather plays a major role on your experience however, the complete disorganization from the event staff before and after the show are what kills it. The line to get in to Twenty One Pilots was an hour long. We missed the first act, even though we lined up over an hour before the event start time. We got lucky and got pulled into the VIP line. I"m sure the people right behind us, didn't make it in time to see TOP start. When they started, there were still empty seats ALL around the venue. There are people smoking pot throughout the venue and security could care less. These people were were on right near the main aisles and very visible. The Wharf cut the show early, due to the threat of bad weather (which never came). Upon doing so, security could not tell us which exit to use, claiming they were new. Once in a car, we waited 30 minutes to move 8 car lengths, to then be able to u-turn to another exit that we could see on our GPS. The parking security did NOTHING to direct traffic and just watched thousands of cars try to exit out of ONE point. I had been to this Amphitheater about 5 years ago. I don't remember it being so difficult. I don't see myself going back again even though some of the acts are great. If I have to add an hour just to leave the 2 block area around the Amphitheater, it's not worth it. It's too hard and disorganized. (and the lack of security and pot use didn't help) read more

Listen folks. We ended up heading over to the Wharf to see our favorite band... TØP. We ended up hitting the road for a 5 hour drive around 6am expecting to be able to hop in line at a decent spot. Keep in mind, at this time people had already been in line for the time we were about to drive. Little did we know, appon arrival to the box office, we would be given wrist bands and told to be back at 4:30pm to form this numerical "line". So expecting our given numbers, based one what time we showed up, to hold merit when we returned to form this "line"; we headed over to the condo to unload and take a nap. We were 630-634. As the "lines" started to form or should I say massive gaggles of skeleton clique members (twenty one pilot fans) we soon realized that the wharf staff had a surprise in store for all of us. That surprise being the fact that none of the security members were going to intervene with the line making of over 9,000 people. Now you must know, it was raining for about 30 minutes during the waiting games we played in a small field outside the box office. Any educated person would think that something the size of the Wharf, in rain city Alabama, would have the man power to handle a little backlash from mother nature. False. As mass chaos began to ensue we were quick to realize we were being cheated out of our "early bird gets the worm" mentality. Two people we knew that came separate, arriving at 5pm day of, were in the pit before #100 in the wristband line could even take a step towards the venue. They sent out a single guard who yelled faint orders to the 8 people surrounding him, which were the only ones that could here. My boy John, random guy from the crowd, had to step up and try to organize this field day of anxious, energy endured fans. As we watched the late arrivers, sans wrist band, snake into the pit from the other side of the turn stiles we started getting a little antsy. Before you knew if a lady came out with a megaphone. Thinking we may finally receive some voice of reason, we tuned our ears to the announcement; "No umbrellas or purses allowed AT ALL inside the venue." I couldn't believe my ears. That's what they choose to announce? How about addressing this hormone pumping army you have bunched up in a wad in your box office pasture. At this point, I had to talk to someone so I called the wharf headquarters that were actually about 70 feet away from me. I asked what their plan was and all the attendant had to say was that they were doing their best with the rain delays. You mean to tell me that a little rain caused all of this commotion to the point that their was no logistical pattern pre show? Now just as I hung up 7pm hit and lickity split the opening band started playing while their was still #200-600 outside the gates. But all of the non wristbanders/ stadium seats were in. The lazy ones. And 10 minutes later all "organization" caved and they let us pretty much abandon the "line" we were supposed to be forming. Now that my rant has finished, I would like to announce that once in the venue I had no problems. It's just crowd management style was just short of a riot in the Capitol streets, but that could all be fixed with more turn styles and better prepared event staff. I have many suggestions on how to fix this, but I will instead just leave that up to John. Hats off to you my friend. read more
