Bottom line up front: false advertising for the main performer. Show "started" at 7PM. Yea well it…read morewas all opening acts from 7:30-10:25. Nearly 3 hours of amateur performers. Some were God awful. It felt like open mic night karaoke at some points. Embarrassing. The crowd was frustrated. The main advertised performer was only on stage for about 40 minutes. His performance was great! I just don't think it was worth the pain of 3 hours of standing and anxiously waiting in a jam-packed crowd. The only pro is that the location is a smaller, intimate venue especially if you are near the stage. Again, blatant false advertising. They milked the crowd to buy drinks for hours while we were hoping the main act would show soon to perform. Some people left early. Never coming here again. Good luck...

CoCo and I went to see Halestorm living room sessions and the line started at the parking garage on Jefferson, wrapped around 2 corners of the building. We showed up pretty late and watched the line stay that long even after we were finally inside. Once inside, we we were surprised to have more options to stand than we expected. The sound team did an amazing job. It was an acoustic concert for the most part. The venue create an intimate enough atmosphere being that it is small inside. Drink are HEAVILY over priced. To the point of not buying one. Do your pregame before. Restrooms where clean enough and managed by security throughout the concert.

Well I'm here in the area working for a few months. I love seeing what locals embrace. This little…read moretheater seems to be just that. I found this place by searching around the internet. It listed a comedy-magic show for $26 advance purchase (it's $30 at door). I paid at the door with a credit card...which then included a small processing fee. I don't know if the fee is waived with a cash payment. To the best of my knowledge, it was street parking only. This place also appeared to be ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible. Now there aren't mounted seats inside. It's more of an open floor arrangement which allows for seating changes as needed (with folding chairs). There's also an elevated seating area. There were no concessions that I noticed. So the show I saw featured Tom Coverly...a 90 minute comedy-magic act that involves audience participation. Although his show is themed around magic, I felt it was primarily comedy. There were lots of young kids and teenagers in the audience. Although comedy, his act was kid appropriate. Tom mentioned that proceeds from his performances go toward local support, but I can't recall specifically what it was...sorry. He also mentioned that the theater has other nights with standup comedians and that there'll also be some jazz nights. For me, his act was good and funny but not a gut buster. But your funny bone may break, so please be your own judge. So I definitely enjoyed the show and I'll probably catch other performances here during my lengthy stay.

This event venue is owned by a local church. Not certain if it ever has events that aren't…read morereligiously-themed, as the intarwebs are sparse with information about that. I recently attended a Christmas sing-along, because my friend is part of a choral group that was there. The church has done a fantastic job of renovating this almost century-old edifice. The foyer is bright and welcoming and the bathroom (the men's, at least) is exceptionally spotless and well-outfitted. The entire place was spotless, actually. There's a small stage in the back, floor seating, and then a tiered, elevated seating section to the back (which is towards the front of the building). The acoustics aren't audiophile approved, but I wasn't listening to Mozart, so the sound was just fine. In one of the front windows, there is displayed a circa-1930s film projector, which looks like it would require 3-4 highly-trained technicians to operate. If you are ever walking by the Rex, slow down and peep that thing. Lots of history in downtown Pensacola, and I applaud the church for reviving, improving, and maintaining a little part of it.
