If you're looking for a place to just grab lunch...this is way more than that. We stopped by during the day expecting good food and beach vibes, but ended up getting a full-on show. At one point the staff broke out into a huge dance party right in the middle of the restaurant, getting kids, parents, and even a few reluctant dads standing on their chairs and joining the fun. It was one of those moments where you couldn't help but smile. Outside there's something for everyone--yard games, a foam party for the kids, bungee-style trampolines, beach access, and plenty of places to hang out (pun absolutely intended). I can only imagine how much fun this place is at night with live music. The nachos were piled ridiculously high and disappeared much faster than they should have. Service was upbeat, attentive, and clearly focused on making sure everyone was having a good time. Don't skip the gift shop either. This place quickly became one of our favorite stops during our vacation! We first visited on Saturday morning for breakfast and were excited to catch the Pirates and Princess Show. The all-you-can-eat family-style breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of delicious food for everyone. What really made the experience special was how interactive the performers were. Before the show, they walked around the restaurant chatting with guests and engaging with the kids. Our 10-year-old had an absolute blast and was entertained from start to finish. Our server, Alina, was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and always making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we returned the next day for lunch. TJ was our server and provided equally outstanding service. My husband ordered the po'boy, I had the fried shrimp basket, and our son chose the grilled shrimp. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. I also tried the Shark Attack drink, which was not only delicious but came with a fun presentation that added to the experience. My family had a great time taking all of our nieces and nephews to the pirates and princesses breakfast! Our waitress was incredibly kind and worked so hard to make sure all of our allergies (and there were a lot) were communicated with the kitchen and that everyone got something good to eat! I will say I was a bit skeptical about the platter style breakfast but I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food on the family style platters. I am so disappointed that I didn't arrive at this place earlier in the day. Now that I know all they offer the next time I will go earlier. It was a busy day on the 4th of July but I was able to place an order before they closed and enjoyed half of it before I took the rest to go. The seafood boil I ordered was delicious!!! The price paid was worth what I received of the crab legs, shrimp, mussels, corn, sausage and potatoes. The boil was very well seasoned. The only downside was that I couldn't substitute the mussels for more shrimp but in the end it turned out I am ok with mussels. During the day they have so much family fun stuff happening outdoors and servers singing inside. I missed all of that. However I did enjoy my short experience and the service was outstanding even when they were close to being closed. read more

We had a great experience at The Hangout! We had zero wait when we arrived (a little after 4pm). Our server was quick to grab drinks, which were great. The vibes of this restaurant are great. Very lively and upbeat. It was Easter Sunday, so the kids received treat bags with Easter eggs filled with candy. That was so nice. I had the smothered snapper. It was phenomenal! It was flavorful, light, and flaky. My husband had the ultimate boil with snow crab. He enjoyed it and the trough of garlic butter for dipping. The kids also enjoyed their food. It looked like one of the few restaurants that was ready to accommodate large family groups. Decided to have lunch here and really enjoyed it. First they are dog friendly patio and allowed us to take our pup out in the back patio. Got seated right away since it was not crowded. We did the pirates and princess breakfast yesterday whilst on vacation. The kids (6 &2) really enjoyed it. The food comes family style- and it's ok- nothing super special- just the basics- eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, but solid and tasty. We also added a fruit plate. Our server TJ was wonderful and the show was awesome. Well worth the cost- especially combined for the food and the show. Apparently, OpenBook "overbooked" the Pirates and Princess breakfast so we did not get to enjoy the show and were shunned off into a corner. We should have left on the spot but we already waited almost an hour and had a toddler in a princess dress and it didn't seem right to her. Of course the incredibly non-empathetic management team didn't care, all they had were excuses and misplaced blame on OpenTable, refusing to take responsibility or rectify the situation. When we visited yesterday, none of the outdoor activities were happening (foam machine, music, booths) The food is a little lacking, but plenty of options if you're hungry. I took my hunky husband and our darling sons and my step daughter for a "family" night out. We left my 98 year old mother at the hotel and thank GOD we did! They had children and slightly overweight people dancing on the tables!? We eat at tables! They wanted my babies to dance while their daddy ate his crab legs. My 98 year old mother would have had a heart attack if she heard the type of sounds coming from this grown man. It was awful. We felt like the band was being segregated by race. Bartenders are nice and attentive. Place is clean and plenty of workers. There is a gift shop. Today, the parking was $20 and you got a $20 gift card to the gift shop. The shirts are pricey ($28/each), but this gulf of America shirt was neat so I got one! My favorite drink at The Hangout is the Shark Attack. It comes with a toy shape filled with red juice! You mix it into the blue water alcoholic drink and it looks pretty neat! It's sweet like punch, but goes with the theme of being on the beach. The menu is burgers and chicken fingers kind of place. Let's start with the don'ts. Don't waste your money on a milkshake for your kid, it is not frozen, it is not made with real ingredients and it is not good. It is a waste of $8! Don't get the spinach dip! It is not good! And we get the spinach dip wherever we go! This one is a pass! It was terrible. Do get the crab legs! For $50 you got a really good amount of crab, potatoes, sausage and corn. They bring you more than enough butter and everyone who ate this at our table was super happy. This place is a blast! We did go on a weekend night so I am not sure if the same is to be said for the weekday, but they had a great party ambiance. The food was very good and you can walk right out to the beach. The gift shop was so much fun for us tourists. We had a baby as well and there was a time where it was slightly too loud inside for him but I just took him outside for a few minutes. The only let down was that the live music was AWFUL. Being here in October meant no wait, super quick service, and no crowds. Ricky was our server and he was great! He knew just what to do to help our kids be comfortable and feel special. He helped us feel at ease as going out with 4 small children can be a challenge. They have plenty to do to keep kids busy and the food comes out before kids can get too cranky.
