d aspects of this end. From here I am going to just recount what happened and you (the reader) can decide if you want to use them. The problem with Ray Wiese started immediately. Demo: The kitchen was scheduled to be demoed and the demo company arrived. Instead of letting the demo company tape off the kitchen (hang plastic to protect the rest of the house) Ray decided to tell his handyman/site manager to tape the rooms. He did an ok job except he left loose openings in several spots. This let to a substantial amount of dust being spread over the first floor of the house, including a decent amount of plaster dust on a new $12,000 audio system. The good news is that the handyman/site guy did a decent job cleaning it up. It was not a gigantic deal and was resolved. Enter first real "on the job Ray Wiese" experience. I called Ray and told him that it was not a great way to make a first impression for work being done at my house. It was a gentle push back to get Ray to understand that it was a little sloppy. RAY STARTED SCREAMING AT ME. He screamed at me that I should "never say that to him" that "maybe they should not finish the job" and many other things. I was unable to get a single word in. He SCREAMED at me every time I tried to say anything. Here is the fact: I gently told him that it was not ok to get dust all over my house and his reaction was to scream at me. He never apologized to me. Ever. Then as the project progressed several small issues came up. For example the water filter for the kitchen sink and the heat for the bathroom that is attached to the kitchen and a few other small items. The water filter: The water filter was placed under the sink in the extreme back of the cabinet literally up against the power outlet for the disposal. It is pretty much impossible to get in there and get the leverage you need to change the filter. I brought this up to Ray and he would not budge. He refused to have the plumber move it, got angry at me again and told me to hire a plumber to change it when it needed to be changed. The heat in the bathroom: The heat in the bathroom was a radiator placed right next to the toilet. As anyone with experience knows, the salt in urine will splash on the radiator (no matter how careful someone is), this will cause the radiator to rust. I asked the guys (contractors) if we could put a "toe kick" heater under the vanity - they had installed two of them in the kitchen. The contractors told me it was "definitely doable" but there would be a cost difference. I said "yeah, I get that, lets do it". Then they said, "...And we have to get that past Ray". Meaning they had to ask Ray. Well, they did. And I did as well. And again, Ray yelled at me and refused to make any changes because that would "push the timeline". I told him I was fine if it got pushed but he yelled back "Well, I'm not!" Other small issues got the same response -- yelling and refusal to engage. I made multiple attempts to resolve the water filter after Ray told me to "hire a plumber." He never responded. Texts, calls. Nothing. The bathroom heat was the same -- yelled, refused, went silent. I even sent a detailed email agreeing to his communication standards and asking only to be treated with respect. He never acknowledged the screaming. Not once. I cannot recommend The Wiese Company to anyone. read more

Our family chose to work with the Wiese Company on three separate occasions. The first project was to redesign our kitchen and dining area. They were able to completely transform our space by tearing down a load bearing wall and open up the kitchen and dining area. This has renewed the way we now use the space and has made the kitchen the social gathering area that we have always wanted. The second project was replacing 30 year old windows in our bedrooms, master bath and den. The Wiese Company was thoughtful to think about our existing windows and pick new windows that complement the overall home's design. Our last project was a complete overhaul of our home's exterior. Our home was insulated and sided with a combination of metal and wood siding. In turn, the updated siding modernized our 1974 home to the contemporary home we always wanted. What we liked about the Wiese Company: 1. The design and build process was seamless. They owned the project from start to finish. We didn't have to deal with any additional contractors. 2. They thoughtfully incorporated our design ideas. 3. They kept us updated on the progress through weekly meetings, so we always were informed and involved. 4. They finished on time and budget! Overall, the Wiese Company is great to work with and always listened to ensure that our vision was captured. We had a really bad experience with the Wiese company. We hired them because we thought they were straight shooters. Unfortunately, our project manager was really disorganized and agreed to things that we were told were out of scope once they were done with the main work. They also work with shady contractors who outright lie to make additional money on your project. We recently hired The Wiese Company for a complete kitchen renovation, adding a guest suite (including bathroom where none existed) in our old, dingy basement, and a whole slew of related miscellaneous, smaller projects. Both the process and the results were fantastic! Ray is clearly devoted to 100% customer satisfaction. His design expertise sets him apart from every other builder / contractor we've encountered. Jeremy, the on-site project manager / master carpenter, managed all the subs effectively and ensured that the quality of workmanship performed by himself, his crew and all subs was top notch. He also made sure that all workers were respectful of the fact that our family, including our newborn, was still living at our home during this large scale renovation. He worked around our schedule to minimize the inconvenience of remodeling. Alexandra immediately recognized our aesthetic tastes and always helped us find the right selection, even for the items where we were extremely specific and / or picky. Her attention to even the smallest detail made one of the most stressful parts of building / remodeling smooth, and the result is that we couldn't be more thrilled with the way everything came together. Because everybody involved was so professional, the punch list at the end was not as long as previous projects of ours for which we used other companies. However, no matter how professionally a project of this scale is done, there will always be some critical and tricky punch items that manifest once you're living in the space again. Matt took our punch list very seriously, even smaller items that we are just very particular about. He has been effective at personally fixing punch items as well as getting other entities to come back to address small issues, which isn't always the easiest thing to do. You can tell that The Wiese Company has built good working relationships with their subcontractors, who are clearly the same crews from job to job, especially with the two most important trades: electrical and plumbing. When crews of different tradesmen are used to working with each other, their effective communication with each other during the project means that problems are solved properly and quickly, which translates to the project being completed on time. We had such a positive experience overall that we have already recommended The Wiese Company to multiple people and will continue to do so at every opportunity. We plan to hire them again for multiple bathroom renovations and couldn't imagine going through remodeling projects with anybody else. read more

We recently completed a master bath renovation with The Wiese Company. This was our second project with them--the first being a major house addition/renovation 15 years ago. Again, the project was completed on time and on budget despite the harshest winter in decades. They were extremely professional in all aspects of the project. My 60-year old house had undergone a series of renovations--the good, the bad, and the ugly. This past fall, the Wiese Company remodeled one bathroom/closet area that was out-of-date and awkwardly placed. The entire project was completed on time, on budget, is highly functional and very visually appealing. I was so delighted with the results that I immediately scheduled them to come back in the early spring to remodel the second bathroom. Little did I know that 'the worst winter ever' would intervened; serious ice dams and damage ensued. No problem..they found time to include major repairs to the roof, attic, and ceilings into the work plan. I now have a second beautiful bathroom--also completed right on schedule. No design issue was too small, including executing a creative cat door to the basement to accommodate my over sized feline (even the building inspector took a picture). At the completion of the project, I was sorry to see the entire team go. But it won't be for long....just until my next project. read more
