HI, I know this is kind of a late review, but I was in there around 2 months ago. I will tell you that, me being first time having to deal with hair loss due to chemo. The experience was awesome. I was nervous, at first, but Jessica, was so helpful, and informative. Yes, it is not cheap,( products and wigs) but the service is worth it. If you have insurance, check with your insurance to see how much they will cover. I have been back couple times to get other things, and every time I go in there, the service is great! If 1/2 of a star was an option, I would have selected that! I went in to the shop on Friday afternoon to look at an exclusive brand of extensions and was treated very poorly! Before I even got two feet in the door, the lady behind the appointment desk asked if I had an appointment. I said that I didn't and that I'd read that they carried the extensions I was I interested in. She didn't move from her chair for quite some time, actually, but when she finally did, it was to reluctantly show me the extensions and the color ring. I was more than prepared to purchase the extensions that would have cost well over $600, but it was completely clear that she didn't want to help or want my money. We went back to The Wig Cottage for some final touches to my wife's new wig and to purchase a few more accessories (their ball caps with hair are amazing, a very good idea for walking the dog or quickly stepping out). When we walked in we were welcomed like family; Jessica was very accommodating, personable and supportive during the hour we spent with her (the young girl at the front desk was awesome too, sorry we didn't get your name). Once again Jessica spent a lot of time sharing her knowledge of wig care with us so that we can look after the new wig properly (we live a long way from here, so coming in for touch ups is not an option). This place is amazing! Everyone in the shop was so kind and any nerves I had simply left the moment I walked in. Losing your hair to chemo (or for any reason, I'm sure) is heartbreaking but these women were so kind and helpful. My stylist was a cancer survivor and I could feel the extra kindness coming from her. She first shaved my head for me, taught me how to take care of my scalp and then I got to try on several different wigs. Ended up buying three wigs and a ton of different products and the best part - they don't act like salespeople, trying to sell you different types of products; they really just want to help you. The wonderful lady that fitted me for my wig was very nice and helpful. She showed compassion as I explained going thru chemo. I bought a wig for $375.00. She said I could come in when I'm ready to get it trimmed or washed. A week later I decided to get my bangs trimmed. The gal that sat me in her chair was so rude I was shocked! I showed her the length by photo and by inches to have them cut. Her response was "I can't do that. That's professionally done. Your bangs will never look like that". I explained I don't want the whole hairstyle just the same bangs barely to my eyebrows. She replied "I can cut them that short but they won't look like that because it's a picture from a magazine done by professionals". At that point I was pissed! All I hear is NO! I basically asked if she could just trim them. She did. I bought a wig stand. The cashier asked if is like to leave a tip and I said NO! She was horrible and so was my experience after spending $375 for hair! I've been back in twice and have my wigs washed, steamed and styled and they look amazing. I will NEVER have her help me again. She works hard,honest and with dignity.unlike many hairdresser, who only want to charge as much as they can, she loves to do quality work with honest opinion regarding current state of your hair. When I met hair, my hair were damaged due to over processing, she stopped me from doing more crazy work, and extension, and she basically guided me to what was right for my hair, which probably no-one could stop me at that time. She is different from many salons in town. She wants you to have a healthy, beautiful hair even if it's not financially in her advantage,but she is just an amazing, professional hair dresser who doesn't care about the financial part, but also wants the best for your hair. Absolutely Awesome. Before going to my appointment that day I was so down emotionally a mess. Sovia hats off to her. She is the most Sweetest, compassionate and she treated me like I was Royal. When she shaved the rest of my hair I broke down pretty hard. She absolutely was so kind. After I calmed down the fun began. The wigs are absolutley Beutifuland Great quality. No pressure no rush it was all about me..Found a wig that made me feel like my old self and on top of that I ended up with 2. Only took 1 home and they are holding the other. Then she gave me a Make over OMG I did not reconize my self I started crying and Sovia and my friend said no your make up we lol. Sovia also got emotional because she saw how happy I was.
