So, I got married here. The accomodations were very, very nice. I actually bumped up my rating to 4 stars because the rooms are so nice. If you're getting married here, though, make sure you outline VERY CLEARLY what you want. The Wedding Coordinators there kept flip-flopping on us. We found out a couple days before the wedding that someone else would be handling our wedding. Which was fine - we didn't do anything complicated and all of our food/reception/ceremony stuff worked out great. But our wedding coordinator acted as though we were putting her out anytime we needed something or had a question. Not cool, lady. Not cool. BUT -- if you're looking for a place to STAY -- I really enjoyed it. The continental breakfast on the weekends is really great (but pretty blah on weekdays).

Enjoying breakfast with this beautiful view!

Lucky I found this hidden gem! Had a delightful stay in this beautiful European style bed and breakfast. Room was super clean. Breakfast was good, and I really enjoyed having morning tea overlooking the beautifully landscaped pool. Friendly service. Would definitely stay again if in the area!

Attempted bribe for 5 star reviews.

I got married here just last week. My over all experience of my wedding was enjoyable. My family rented out the entire venue and rooms. HOWEVER: I was extremely disappointed when my new sister in laws room flooded and two of the bath tubs were broken, my mothers and mine. My venue coordinator was nice enough to clean up my room for me during my grand exit but was in such a hurry to do so she zipped my veil into the bag and ripped it. I understand it was an accident. But then I received an email from them saying if I give them positive 5 star reviews I'll get an amazon gift card. SERIOUSLY?? Bribing your brides???

I have allergies so I asked the chef (he was standing right outside so super easy) about my options. Little did I know everything was marked with easy-to-read allergen labels! Vegan, vegetarian, gf only disappointment was bbq sauce wasn't gf . Music, games, rosco the bull. I have an off grid ranch in eastern Colorado so most things "country" don't impress me because well I live it. But this was well done. Only wish band wouldn't played more classic country than pop. But the food was awesome. If you can go for drink specials. I have to do a gf grain option which is top shelf and $15 for a single. Ouch.

This sprawling estate is able to accommodate lots of guests (vehicles included) for all different types of functions. Everything about the property is ostentatiously southern, which might seem kitschy to non Texans, but for locals it just feels comfortable and familiar. Since I was there for a banquet, the first thing I have to talk about is the food. It seemed only appropriate that barbecue was on the menu with things like brisket, smoked sausage and baked beans, all served buffet style. While it was respectable enough, the quality was closer to Dickey's or Spring Creek than more authentic Texas barbecue. I thought the bread pudding they had for dessert was a good choice since I don't see that very often, plus it was very tasty. This place also has several built in bars because at social events people need their adult libations! There were only a handful of options available, but frozen margaritas was one of them, so that totally made up for the small selection. In addition to special events and private parties they also host market days open to the public. For that they have local vendors selling their goods along with other family friendly activities, such as pony rides, a petting zoo and rodeo. Although I haven't been before, I'm inspired to go now after seeing how well they handled the event that we did attend.

It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. The rest of the park is BEAUTIFUL and well landscaped. I'm not sure what they use that massive pavilion for, but honestly I think it makes a case for a good wedding venue! If you're looking for a splash pad to add to your summer rotation, put this one on the list.

They are not business savvy enough to realize the mistake they made mistreating people in a movement that would bring them a lot of future business. A friend of mine rented this space with the goal of bringing Zumba events to Denton, and brought Instructors both local and from far and wide for a Zumba masterclass at this space. She had conversations prior with management to set expectations. They verbally agreed about the music being loud (That's Zumba!), the microphone and sound equipment needs, and she was assured that the needs would be met. Needless to say, on the day of the event, those agreements were flipped on the head. We were met with aggressive management staff that had their noses up in the air, who reprimanded my friend right in front of the whole crowd of people. They talked down to her and the rest of us who tried to have a reasonable conversation with them, as though we and the rest of the people who had come for the event were beneath them. Everything was a problem. The volume, apparently the sight of us in our skin, the colors, where we put our belongings, the way we breathed were met with hostility and disgust. It's stressful and hard enough to put on an event of that magnitude, so having the managers yelling at the event organizer caused her to break down crying. The managers were relentless, had no mercy and kept talking down to her and asking her to turn down the volume. The microphone stopped working which is horrible for a hosted Zumba event. The event organizer was never told that the event space would be open to the public and that people would be walking into an event that was paid for. One of the younger managers had the nerve to condescendly ask her if she hadn't looked at their website prior, to research what their organization was about. What does that have to do with someone paying you for an event that you agreed to? Let's be clear... These managers are racist and biased and don't want people such as "us" in their art gallery space. What kind of people are "we"? A teacher, an engineer, an actor/documentarian that is the inspiration behind you and your girlfriend's favorite Texan movie? CEOs of their own companies, business owners? These "kinds" of people. When the main manager saw the outpouring of love for my friend who put the event together, it literally dawned on her what the potential impact would be. Then she started to flounder, retract herself and start to make conversations to smooth things over. It was a little too late. At this point we already had such a bad taste in our mouths. It's such a missed business opportunity, because the Zumba community has events literally every other week. There would have been so many other Zumba events there if this had been a positive experience for us. It's quite unfortunate in this day and age that people are still so biased and judgemental. You have no idea who you are interacting with. Be careful how you treat people.
