This is a great "hole-in-the-wall" grill with Southern comfort food and charm. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and charming. You order at the counter, and the food is then delivered to your table. I ordered the two-egg breakfast plate with my eggs sunny-side up, with grits (hash browns were also an option) and sausage. I also ordered two buttermilk pancakes. The sunny-side-up eggs were perfectly cooked. I put one egg over the grits and the other on the pancakes, then broke the yolks -- it was delicious. The yolk mixed nicely with the perfectly made grits and fluffy pancakes. It is a small place and was crowded with regulars, which gave it a welcoming neighborhood feel. Maybe we came too late in the day? Maybe this is just a quick hot meal that hits the spot when there is (literally) no other hot n ready fast food option around? Nothing is made from scratch, in house and was all little to no flavor. Perhaps this is why salt shakers were the only seasoning on each table. No hot sauce, no hot peppered vinegar, not even black pepper. Just salt. Fried chicken was your standard Sysco/Bulk pre-breaded run of the mill, drop into fryer and keep hot variety. The mashed taters n gravy were instant and of the cheapest bulk commercial variety as well, and the Mac & cheese? I knew it when I saw it but it was the only other decent side available as my first pick of fried okra was not available. For $25 for two people, I'd hit a Bojangles or Popeyes instead of coming here and actually feel full. Darn shame as I'd had high expectations for this mom & pop place, and truly wanted a real-deal Southern soul food meal which this was absolutely not. Maybe their breakfast options are actually made in-house and better? They would need to do so AND be open by 5 AM if they want to profit rapidly and substantially on the ever-increasing commuter to and from Raleigh transplants because the supper choices? Definitely not Granville County's finest. I'd suggest the owners of The Wilton Grill go work for a week from open to close at Apple Market up near South Boston to see how breakfast, lunch and supper is done. I'll try breakfast if and when they are open for wee hours and the planets align, but I doubt I will come here again for lunch or supper unless there's some soul and seasoning slapped into and on the menu. This was on point with elementary school lunch foods. I will say the styrofoam plates and cups, plastic forks, cup lids and straws were clean. They do accept Apple and Google pay, they also give you the option to tip which, lol, I'm not sure what for. This place could be a gold mine in the right hands. read more

This is a sweet little honey pot -situated at the junction of well traveled routes. A favorite to many people in the area. It's not a fancy place but the location is clean and follows covid 19 protocols. I had breakfast and early dinner- simply delicious- this is the kind of place where the patrons want to know where you live- many patrons live in the area or have friends and family that live in the area. A lot of times -the grits on a breakfast plate are lukewarm at best- but they are piping hot on my breakfast platter. The bacon nice and crispy. This is a small in area- diner- but offers several options for breakfast lunch and dinner. The hours varies but opens seven days a week. The servers are friendly and courteous-I usually am hungry after waking- so I'm very appreciative of the friendless and kindness of the owner and hostess and how yummy the food is. I can't really give any stars because we didn't have an opportunity to dine in . Went yesterday (Saturday) after finding them on yelp . Hours say they're open til 8pm Monday-Saturday. Arrived & placed our orders & we're about to pay when they cashier advised us they were closing in 10 minutes & if we wanted our order to go. We are so disappointed in Wilton's. We visited Wilton's 2 weeks ago and my son found a hair in his mashed potatoes. We shrugged it off as a 1 time thing until we visited again today 1.16.17. Again, there was hair in my food! The lima beans tasted sour. We use to love this place when Ms Marie was cooking. I am not sure what has happened with the level of cleanliness and care in the food levels over the past 2 weeks,but at this point we will not visit there again. We will no longer recommend Wilton's as a food place of choice. Don't pass this place up because of the lack of curb appeal! These are one of those country places you have to try! This local place has some delicious down south dishes. Their prices are great too. Local stop for simple breakfast fare (that was our reason for going). They have both eat-in and take-out options. Large amount of crowd on Saturday morning was taking out, but our breakfast was hand-delivered by a manager. No waitresses--you just step up the counter and order. Food was decent and served piping hot. Bologna sandwich for my son had a hefty slice that was nicely grilled along with the toasted bun. My Western omelet was as expected. Good value for the money. I have been a resident of this community for over 30 years. I have been frequent customer of Wilton Grill throughout the years. Before this owner bought it I have nothing but great things to say. Now however not so great. Within the last 2 years I would frequent this establishment at least twice a week. Within that time frame I can count at least 20 times that my order has been wrong. Yesterday was it for me. Anyone can have a bad day but it has gotten ridiculous. Apologies are great when you mess up people ,but don't make the same mistakes over and over again. That is not human error. That is incompetence. If you do decide to stop here check your order yourself. They forget items a lot. They give you the wrong items and if you go back even just from the car the will call you a liar. I even asked if all my items were in the bags. I was told she double checked it herself. Stupid me trusted her. Get home missing food. Had to drive back. So guess who gets to pay for the extra gas and gets the bonus of eating cold food. It was not my food missing.
