Prices and selection are decent - but the most miserable workers I've ever encountered - every time I've been here. Usually, if I ask a worker at a liquor store if they carry something and the answer is no, the follow up will be recommendations for something similar. Not here though - you get a "no" and nothing further. And if you then inquire, you're likely to be met with an attitude. I've had it happen to me and just this weekend witnessed it with another customer. We all have bad days but for goodness sakes if you're that miserable all the time maybe it's time to rethink your role customer service and sales. I'll be heading 8 minutes west from now on - same or better prices, and a hello at the very least. read more

I just want to say as a liquor store this place is great on its own, BUT they also do these personalized bottles that come out ABSOLUTELY AMAZING every time. They way they lay out the writing and photos and the color it really is just amazing. They make the perfect gift and look so thoughtful. They make it super easy to order and usually get them done before they say they'll be ready! I've gotten at least 10 of these done and every single time i'm left absolutely amazed at how good they come out! I don't go to any other liquor stores because there really is no need too. read more

Did not seem to care about the health and safety of anyone around him, and the store was busy with both workers and customers. I stopped by today to purchase a case of a favorite wine that was advertised at a good price. I have been purchasing at least once a month here and have their customer reward card. I was told that since I didn't have the actual ad I couldn't purchase at the special price, that they treat their ad as a coupon. So being a regular customer with their reward card means absolutely nothing. One time a worker brought the wrong case of wine to my car that was more expensive than what I actually paid for, and I went back in to tell them. No thank-you, nothing, wish I just kept it now. Rude, yes, absolutely, but no problem. I'll be happy to spend my money at the wine guy instead where they don't require an paper ad for prices advertised. read more

I have been a loyal customer since The Wine Authority opened. Not only do they have great advertised prices (when I can stock up for holidays or parties), but the regular prices are competitive so I don't feel like I am paying too much when I want to just grab a bottle of wine to enjoy or bring as a gift. As a local Realtor, I take advantage of their bottle engraving service. In addition, they create the most magnificent gift baskets that I use as closing gifts. I provide them with some extra "goodies" for the baskets and they do the rest. All of the recipients of these gorgeous baskets are pleased. They get to toast to their new home, and keep the beautiful bottle as a keepsake. I am always treated kindly by their attentive staff. When I first started ordering the engraved bottles, Brandie helped me come up with the perfect design. She worked with me to get the look "just right". All staff members are knowledgeable about wines and will make a recommendation if you need it. The store itself has a clean, well-lit appearance. It is a great addition to Mt. Sinai and vicinity. There are few places where a patron can expect to get an honest and accurate piece of advise, for free, that will enrich his/her life and that of friends. The "Wine Authority" is one of these rare establishments. I have been a patron for about two years. Each time I go in to buy a bottle I learn something new about wine. The staff is helpful but the in house sommelier is Phil. When in doubt about a wine, ask Phil. Whether it be a full bodied Barolo to accompany a meal or delightfully fruity Moscato for dessert, Phil will not steer you wrong. Wine prices vary widely but the "Wine Authority" has a wine to satisfy all tastes and wallets. If you would like to add a special touch to a gift it is possible to have a bottle of wine engraved. I would prefer to use the additional monies to purchase a better wine, however, the idea of engraving is novel and may add an extra personal touch to a special occasion. read more

I've been going there for awhile but finally realized that I don't need to be giving my money to rude people who don't seem to care or be thankful that you're patronizing their store. I had a bottle of prosecco explode in my left hand. The store too warm. I had glass all over me and it cut my left hand and arm I was bleeding. There was no emergency kit. I was not offered anything off on the 6 bottles that i still bought. I also had brought them to a family member. The bottle was not even opened all the way and the bottle popped open. I Was not offered a bandage. I did use bathroom to clean myself but the lady was more concerned about the glass on floor than a person bleeding ij the store. The only nice thing that happened was a gentleman carried the box out to my car. read more

I usually do not write reviews, but I want to caution that you should stay away from this place. I tried to order a birthday gift, a bottle of wine with engraving. I included expedited shipping with my order, which I placed on a Friday. I never received an order confirmation e-mail, which is typically standard when ordering online, so I took a screenshot of the order for my own records. I received a call Monday afternoon to inform me that the item I ordered was out of stock. There was no credible explanation given for the delay, and no suitable alternatives were presented that would have arrived in time for the birthday. I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. I received no follow-up, and had to send two e-mails before the refund was processed. Very disappointing experience all around. Please do not put yourself through the frustration that I did. read more

SInce The Wine Authority has opened it is the ONLY place where I purchase liquor! The store is well stocked. If they do not have what you want they will order it for you. I have found the staff to be extremely helpful. Recently I underwent arthroscopic surgery on my right knee resulting in weeks of agony that was far worse than being hit in the groin requiring weeks of rest. I barely able to walk anywhere. The staff always carried my purchases to my vehicle without any complaints at all. They never asked for tip, wanted nor accept one. I highly recommend them!!! read more

When you walk into the store their is a counter to the right. Usually an employee is there barricaded behind boxes so they do not have to say welcome or hello. We were looking around, no one asked us if we needed help. When we came to the counter to check out the employee who was at one of the registered pointed for us to go to the next register. No speaking on their part. I paid, he handed me the receipt no thank you for shopping. Even avoided eye contact and starting talking to the other employee. Not a helpful or welcome place. read more

This place had a much larger and varied selection than I had imagined, including a number of wines and liquors I'd never seen or heard of before. They also have a bottle engraving station and the outcome of the products were really fantastic. Not sure about the other review, everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful. I took the advice of the Sommelier and his suggestion of another bottle in comparison of what I was purchasing and it has become my new favorite. Was totally worth the trip. read more

So, I usually patronize the smaller local places, but this time I was in for a RUDE AWAKENING. I purchased some Bourbon for myself with their advertised price, and then the woman behind the counter KEPT the whole newspaper ad (she said it was a coupon). I asked her if she could "cut out" the so called coupon for the Bourbon for her to keep, because my wife wanted to look at the ad for a purchase of wine the following day. She said "NO WAY"....I told her to keep the precious advertisement....my wife and I then went to Markay's Liquors (local competitor) and spent $88.00 on wine that The Wine Authority could've sold us....PS....Markay's allows you to keep the coupon as it expires usually TWO weeks down, wheras the Wine Authority's so called coupon is usually only good for two days.....BYE BYE TO THE WINE AUTHORITY AND THEIR RUDE STAFF !!!!!!! read more

I just had an unbelievably disappointing experience at this store. I stopped in on my lunch break to purchase 3 bottles of wine as gifts. I was delighted to see that all 3 wines were in stock. However, the Sommelier who rung me up was insulting and rude. I asked him for a specific wine by name and he sighed and loudly taunted "We have better wines for much cheaper". He loudly informed me that the wines I had selected were all corporate wines, and that "We really try to get away from that here." (Then, why do you sell them?) I just listened politely and nodded as he went on to treat me as a low grade moron with no taste when I calmly refused to do a tasting or listen to his recommendations. Is this customer service? Did the Wine Authority not just profit off the the $57.00 I spent at their shop? I don't mind friendly sales people making suggestions, but having someone be so pushy and rude was a total turn off. Seems like they are taking the word "Authority" a little too strongly. I can spend my money in the future where someone will appreciate it. read more
