Craig Price does an amazing job directing these plays and making it a fun and positive atmosphere for all the youth involved! I've also attended a couple of the "Improv Tonight!" shows the first Saturday of every month, and have enjoyed these a lot as well! The museum is quite small, however I got to see the beautiful waterfront landscapes, birds and ocean view paintings of Douglas David, Peggy Keigley, and Jim Freeman in the main exhibition room. The selection of pieces was all very Marco Islandesque. As stated above, ocean views, birds, & sunsets were some of the paintings I got to view. The values differed. I saw some paintings that were $250 and then some that were over $2,000 or more. There was an upstairs as well. She's training a student Midwife Nicole who is exceptional and several doulas right now. When I got pregnant with our second I knew I wanted to have a natural birth with a midwife and was lucky enough to come across FBC. They do fill up quickly because they can only take so many patients at one time. They have two birth suites that are very calming with a giant tub, bed, and any labor tool you would need to get through a natural birth. They even offer Nitrous Oxide as a coping mechanism if desired. There is so much autonomy to going through FBC for your birth and you will never feel forced into anything. You dictate how you want your birth experience to go and that was exactly the case for me. I made it to 41 weeks and 1 day and was losing my mind, Dawn was there for me every step of the way. She was so great at calming me down, making great recommendations and truly cared deeply about the prep work I put in for labor beforehand and my prenatal care. They care so much about your diet, prenatal supplements, health, exercise, things you can do to prepare your body for a natural labor both mentally and physically, as well as your immediate care after birth. I felt like my birth team had my back and was there for me every step of the way. I ended up having Dawn break my water at 41 weeks + 1 day and my labor lasted for 5 hours. I pushed for 2 minutes and our little man was here. I truly think a lot of this had to do with Dawn + her team's recommendations and the prep work I did beforehand. I would highly recommend going to FBC! They will empower you to have the birth of your dreams and give you all of the tools you need to do so! They do work with insurance carriers which made this even more affordable for us but they do payment plans so you are paid in full by the time you give birth and don't have to worry about that right after. The office staff is great and were amazing to work with for paperwork, scheduling and insurance!

Throughout my pregnancy, the team was always so communicative and every appointment the midwives, both Dawn and Nicole, were happy to discuss any questions I had (and there were many as this was my first pregnancy!) My labor was long and difficult due to baby being in a less than optimal position, but Nicole worked with us through the entire process and the birth center's doula (Kennedy) was there for us the moment we arrived at the birth center to coach us through the hours of active labor. Our birth team enabled me to have the natural delivery I wanted, even with the unexpected challenges.

So I get upstairs and lo and behold, no one is there. Push the button for help. After three pushes, I decided to call them and ask for service upstairs. Oh, you are upstairs? We will send someone up. Someone had a lame excuse about how busy they were. Too busy to take my half a grand for membership? They are, to my knowledge, the closest range to me where I don't have to drive for a half hour. I am waiting for the day another range opens, and I can leave these boors behind.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is on the other side of the altar. It is calming. I noticed there were no paper hymnals in the back of the pews. Instead there was a QR code designed to connect each person to a worship document online. Also, the words to prayers and music are displayed discreetly on monitors. So, each person can follow in the way that is most comfortable. The Pastor, Father Casey, has a gentle-giant, wise brother, teddy bear quality. He seems approachable, yet is deeply aware of how important both tradition and scripture are. He is both old school and modern Catholic at the same time. He is able to connect the congregation to today's relevance of Bible text written centuries before. I felt at home during my first Mass here.

Most enthusiasts will benefit from a basic course offered by the USCG Aux. Legally boats for hire must be under the license of a captain. I had three other friends who are graduates of this school. And while going through this journey you will get to learn along with 9 to 11 other students. My friends spoke highly of Capt Casey and instructors. I had to wait an extra month to get into this class as there was not enough students in December. This month we had a max. Of 12 students, but two dropped out after the first day for other reasons. This course has 4 major categories, rules of the road, chart plotting, navigation gen, and deck gen/ safety. Capt. Terry Kuykendall started by teaching us rules of the road and intro to chart plotting and Capt Joe Calzone taught us the rest. This school also has extra endorsements for towing, master inland, master near coastal, radio operator. Port security, I will have to say that the students in this course were from various backgrounds and ages. 3 of us were retired. Two were involved in marine sales and rentals. And a few were doing it for personal development. One student was sponsored by his employer. Class time is very intensive as they prepare you to think large like 100 gross ton 65ft vessels. Many of the rules are specific to inland waters and international rules are equally important. The weekday night class moves along quickly and we are tested each day after each topic you will be given immediate daily feed back on the information that you have reviewed. They did a good job of staying on topic as to not fly off on tangents. Most of our classmates were respectful to the instructor and other students. The instructors will teach but as students you will have to put in the time to review the manual and learn the procedures and formulas. Know chart navigation and identify signals both lights and sounds. Bells whistles and gongs. Expect it to be very difficult if you fail to study and put time in. The instructor was willing to help one on one if needed.
