Students are respectful, well- mannered, and kind to other peers, no sign of bullying, which is great and rare to see nowadays. It's very easy to make friends here as long as you try talking with others! They will all approach you, too! The program offered here is also highly rewarding and amazing and am so thankful for it. Each student has the opportunity to earn as high as an Associates Degree in this school! You are practically a college student, with a college email with LoneStar, do assignments, pick your classes and schedule, and get many privileges here! Of course it can be challenging, but as long as you do all your work and study on time, you can get great grades, have nice friends, and enjoy all your free time stress free!!! All the High School work is online, therefore it is recommended to bring your own personal laptop, but they also let you use the school laptops which are pretty good too for free! All your college tuition, and textbooks, etc is free too! We use to not have ANYTHING athletically related, but our school is soon starting a soccer team this year and other sports! You have much freedom and advantages in this school, so as long as you behave good and do your best, it will be easy and rewarding at the end! Sadly, there is no transportation or lunch provided, but there are microwaves and vending machines! The only thing I wish they could fix is having more school spirit! I wish we could do things together as a whole school at least on Fridays! Also, I wish we could have more clubs to help in certain careered like maybe a medicine/ health club, LAW club, teaching, technology, ART, journalism, etc. to help people find ways to find a career they are interested in if still indecisive.... Anyways, school is overall amazing with great admin and the school is also very pretty and clean and SAFE!

I did not and still do not like the principal - she seems very plastic to me and usually sporting an expression like she has no idea what's going on but is doing a good job of faking it. The very first day when we were doing things "wrong" she in a very rude tone asked had we been at parent/teacher night before school started and we said no we were out of town. I didn't feel like there was a problem as I had spoken to my son's teacher before the first day. But what anyone neglected to mention was anything about procedures for dropping and picking children up so when the principal spoke to us using terms as if we had any idea what she was referring to it furthered my dislike of her. I have since learned this is her very first year not only at this school but as a principal period. That explained a lot. She's desperately trying to show off her capability but is going about it with too much effort so she looks scattered in anything she does. Parents are allowed to drop kid off in the morning after signing in at the office which includes them scanning your photo ID and being given a sticker with your ID and where you will be printed upon it. But parents are not even allowed into the building in the afternoon for pick up - not even the Pre K or kindergartners for supposed security reasons. Why it's different for the afternoon than morning is anyone's best guess. They are constantly begging for volunteers and cannot seem to figure out why they have so few when they have such a cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly policy for/with the parents. The very first week my 5 year old in his first year was given homework! This shock and astounded me in a very bad way. I even asked my father for confirmation and he agreed that when I was in school we didn't start getting homework until second grade. It's a very tedious "chore" to make a child that young sit and do a worksheet or two a night. I'm still not thrilled with it but there's not much I can do unless I do want to remove him from the public school system. I had problems with his teacher at first. My child had never been in any kind of school environment and I made this very well known to her. The 2nd or 3rd week of school she sent a note home 3 out of 5 days saying my child didn't do his work and would I talk to him about that! That upset me in about 18 different colours! What did she want *me* to do about a problem she was having with my child during *her* time with him. I was not going to punish him or curtail any activities because at age 5 he would have already dismissed anything said to him by her earlier in the day. A meeting was scheduled for myself, his teacher and the counselor. Then hurricane Ike hit! The school was closed for a week and two days. They opened a Wed almost 2 weeks before HISD did though the vast majority of teachers' and students' homes still had no power or water. I still find this lapse inexcusable! How could staff members properly prepare for a day with no water or power? How could parents properly prepare their children for school without power or water. Oh they said it was perfectly okay to not being the kids if there was no power or water on - it would just be excused absences. But now my child has 3 absences on his record that I do not think should be there at all! After the time off from the hurricane when he did get back to school my child suddenly got right into the swing of things and all the skills I'd told them he already possessed came shining through. A meeting was scheduled for me his teacher and the counselor only for a different reason this time. They asked was I okay having him go over to one of the First grade classes for reading and having him nominated for the gifted and talented program after the winter break was over? No I have no problem with that at all. I have since volunteered for the book fair {I got horribly sick too}. And have a much better relationship with his teacher and most of the staff. I am not sure if I will ever warm up to the principal ever.

Coming from Germany only 5 years ago, the size of the public high school was an issue which we did not anticipate. Cunae is in comparison a lot smaller, but that was in our case exactly what we were looking for. Our son absolutely thrived in the last two years. The IB program was what attracted us in the first place, but the whole concept at this school is fantastic.

We are so thankful to have found Cunae International for our daughter. The material is taught in a…read moremanner that the students retain the information. The kids are required to do presentations, research papers, projects that prepare them for college. The school teaches life skills ensuring the the children make choices and take responsibility. Initially he had a hard transition due to separation anxiety but the staff at Northwood worked with him to help him feel welcome and that he was in a safe place. I toured 4 schools before deciding to start him at Northwood and I'm really glad I chose this school because of the fact that they are only one of two AMI accredited schools in the greater Houston area and are really committed to maintaining a true Montessori style classroom and environment. My son flourished while in Ms. Regan's classroom. I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Regan. She is an extremely devoted teacher who takes time to know each child and work with them as individuals. This is part of the Montessori method of learning but Ms. Regan goes above and beyond to create the best individualized plan to help your child succeed, she's truly amazing! I also LOVE the playgrounds, it's set in a wooded area with lots of space for the children to run around and they even have a little walking/biking trail. I truly felt like I was part of the family while my son attended Northwood and I really miss that now that he's moved on to a much larger school. I don't think he or I will ever forget the wonderful experience of having Northwood be his first school!

For his standardized testing, he is performing at very high levels which makes me appreciate the investment in his education. The teachers are all very kind, yet focused on academic excellence. The office staff knows parents by name and are proactive in ensure kids get a great education. Things aren't all rosy. The classes are tough - they expect a lot from students and hold them to high standards. If they follow along, they well soar! It is definitely worth scheduling a tour!

The kindergarten completely prepared my boys for public school. It is a clean, fun and relaxed family like environment. My boys still say they miss this school.
