I've always struggled with finding the right settings when doing weight machine exercises on my own. Sessions here are one on one, and always tailored to your physical needs & capabilities. The trainers are very attentive to detail and make sure you have correct form when performing exercises. It's true, you really can get a good workout in 25 minutes. Mariel pushed me during every session, challenging me to a point of physical strength I didn't know I had in me. She was also always very encouraging. Diana and her team of trainers are the best at what they do! Everyone is kind and welcoming and easy to talk to. They encourage you to do your best without making you feel bad about yourself. The machines aren't difficult to work, but it will make you feel like you've pushed yourself, in a good way! The exercises may be "slow" but the 30 minutes goes by quickly, because they keep changing up which machines you work on. This was such an awesome and fulfilling experience! I have chronic pain and long Covid and have been struggling to find a place that can accommodate me. I also have a very hard time at gyms and can get easily overwhelmed and anxious. Sara Camp was my amazing trainer. She listened to my issues and was always constantly checking in. I originally chose The Workout Revolution because of Covid. It had been 2 years since I felt safe going to a gym; private 1:1 gym session was priority for me. I'm so glad this led me to Diana! I've been working out with her for almost a year now. She is a kind, supportive trainer and I always enjoy her company. The slow movement took a little getting used to but the results have been amazing for me! With no strain on my joints, all of my muscle tone (and more!) has returned. I was on the brink of total replacement knee surgery, and these workouts have almost completely eliminated all of my knee pain by strengthening all the supportive muscles. Diana recently added a second trainer Lorena, who I enjoy so much that I'm now splitting my time and seeing both. Lorena has fun, joyful energy and pushes me to go harder, which I really appreciate. I don't know how best to describe this workout, but it's amazing! It's something you have to experience to understand how thorough of a workout you can get in 25 minutes. It seems impossible, especially for those of us who have spent so many years in a gym. Diana is knowledgeable, encouraging, kind, fun, affable, warm, non-judgemental, understanding, adaptable, organized, professional, not a weirdo, attentive, passionate, and easy to communicate with. The workouts are the right level of challenging. They're quick and about as enjoyable as exercising can be for someone like me who is generally on the lazy side. You will NOT be doing any burpees or jumping jacks or anything of that sort that will make you groan and wish you had stayed in bed. The exercises are specialized and targeted, and having gone for a couple months now, I am definitely starting to notice the positive effects. The gym is small and comfortable and the lessons are one-on-one! This means totally individualized and goal-oriented workouts, and no other customers are in the gym (Even still, full COVID precautions are taken)! Also, there is no awful music playing! Diana is nothing short of amazing! There are so many great things about her that it's hard to put it all into words. She is the perfect combination of everything you would want in a personal trainer. She is knowledgeable, caring and efficient. The work she does is designed specifically for you and where you are now. She truly listens to your concerns and adjusts your workout accordingly. I have been injured/reinjured on more than one occasion with traditional trainers mostly because they didn't listen to me. It was that kind of "no pain, no gain" mentality. I also have never reached the kind of muscle mass and definition that I have now. While working with Diana and utilizing the slow-motion, high-intensity strength training, I have never had a concern that she was pushing me too far, too fast. In fact, with every machine setup at every session, she checks in to see how all the machine settings are working for you. This is due to the fact, and I learned this more thoroughly while working with Diana, some days you "got it" and some days you just don't. Diana is also punctual, which is a biggie for me. She's fair and reasonable as she can be when it comes to scheduling. She also doesn't impose on you what she thinks your goal(s) should be. When I first started working out with her I just wanted to get stronger and walk without pain. And I'm happy to report, "mission accomplished". Now we've moved on to other goals. Recently, Diana moved into her new private facility where she works with you one on one. Additionally, she leaves enough time between sessions so that clients don't overlap. She keeps the studio in immaculate condition. In this time of Covid, it's very comforting to know how conscientious Diana is about following the mandated regulations as well as her own personal standards regarding the cleanliness/sanitization, air circulation and general aesthetics of her studio. I feel very safe and comfortable working out there. I'm always pleasantly surprised and excited by the muscle that I've built and maintained through working with Diana. Admittedly, it seems counterintuitive that thirty minutes a dayfor one day a week could make that big of a difference but it truly does. I am so happy that I have found Diana. It is truly one of the best things that I have ever done for myself. If you are thinking about trying slow-motion, strength training at all, Diana would be a terrific place to start. P.S. I LOVE how weight lifting makes me feel, but I HATE doing the traditional setup -- finding time and motivation, counting plates, tracking progress, obsessing over form but somehow still dealing with nagging injuries - every component beyond the actual weight lifting itself makes me less excited and less likely to stick to a meaningful routine. Super slow, high intensity workouts with a trainer are completely different. They're quick, effective, and literally the only thing you have to worry about is working your muscles. Diana sets up the equipment, tracks your progress, corrects your form, and modifies for pre-existing injuries or sensitivities. I've been working out with Diana for a few years now. I have a lot of back issues, and I wanted to find a way to build up my strength without further injuring myself. Having never worked out with a trainer before, I was a little hesitant and intimidated since I wasn't in the best shape and I didn't know what I'd even be physically capable of doing. I was referred to Diana by a friend and to be honest I was quite hesitant. What I consider a workout is to be drenched in sweat and barely be able to walk. My workouts normally consist of 1-2 hrs or heavy weights and cardio so a 30 minute resistance training with lights weights didn't sound like a workout to me. SO I was WRONG... It was a full body workout and my muscles were completely fatigued after the workout and I was sore for days later. Love Diana! Initially I bought a Groupon for 4 sessions and I was hooked. I had never done the super slow method before but I really liked it immediately. Diana is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable so feel challenged and safe. I've been working with Diana usually once a week since November and I actually look forward to working out which for me is shocking. She'll really tailor the workout for your needs while also keeping it very well-rounded. And all in 30 minutes! When I first started working out with Diana, I had taken an embarrassingly long hiatus from working out (like years). I was terrified, yet excited and committed to get back in. However, I had never really been a "lifting weights" person. In my fitter years I was more into yoga and barre classes. But with the research I had done, I felt I needed to weight train for long term health benefits and to build up my muscles that had been on vacation for way too long...and hey, Diana and the SuperSlow technique claimed that you only needed to do this for 20-30 minutes, once/week to get results...sounded way too good to be true, but worth a try. After my first workout, I was in love. They are not kidding when they say this is "SuperSlow." You work so slow and so hard and so heavy that your muscles burn in a way I had never experienced before. And the high, invigoration and endorphin rush you feel afterwards is incredibl...and later, it turns into a relaxing fatigue that makes you sleep like a baby. But still it was difficult for me to believe that once a week of this would be enough to make a real difference. Well I was wrong...in less than 3 months I needed to buy new clothes because they were getting too big! And shortly after that people starting noticing that I had more definition in my arms and legs...and my boyfriend said he could really see a change in my butt...well need I say more! I WAS ADDICTED! Enough about SuperSlow, now let's talk about Diana. It's been almost 2 years now, and I can't imagine my life without my Diana workouts. She is so knowledgeable about what she does and her passion for it is so obvious. The workout never gets easier (Diana makes sure of that :), but over time certain things relating to your mind/body connection will click in a different way for you, actually allowing you to work even harder and deeper...which makes it even more rewarding. First and foremost, Diana is concerned about your safety. She will explain to you that injury is less likely with SuperSlow than in many other workouts...because you are lifting the weights so "slowly," it incorporates a stretch and does not allow you to use any momentum. Still, as I do, you may have certain tendencies or history of injuries that require special care and attention during your workouts. For me, I have ongoing issues with my neck and low back that I see a chiropractor for. And this is where Diana's expertise really shines through. She finds ways to tailor my workouts to these issues without compromising the intensity (and constantly checks in with me from week to week to make sure I do not have any changes in my health that require additional modifications). Also, she is on me during my entire session to make sure I am maintaining proper form and feeling good. Nothing I have done in my sessions with Diana has ever aggravated my injuries, which my chiropractor is amazed by given the intensity of these workouts...he always says "your trainer must be really amazing, knowledgeable, attentive and caring." And I say, "SHE IS!" In fact, I've even been having less issues with my low back overall since I've been working with Diana, so I know I am in the best hands. And on top of that, she is just so motivating. She makes you want to excel and compete with yourself. She is the perfect combination of warmth, care and kicking your butt...and she is very in tune with where you are and what you need most at any given time. She knows what you might need to motivate and get you going one week, might be different from what you need the next. And as much as I may be addicted to my workouts, I am human...and there are weeks where I really don't feel like going...I may be going through something emotionally, may have gotten too little sleep, may be feeling weak, may be overwhelmed and busy with other things in my life or may just feel "off" and not in the mood...but I have my appointment, so and I show up...and EVERY single time I am grateful that I did because I ALWAYS feel a thousand times better than I did before I walked in...and many of those times, I end up having some of my strongest workouts ever (how does she get that out of me on those days?) So if your still reading this very long review, I hope you realize you owe it to yourself to call Diana right now and set up your consultation. My husband and I have been going to Diana at The Strength Shoppe in Pasadena for almost a year. We both cannot recommend her highly enough. These workouts are tough! High intensity, slow repetitions until you reach muscle exhaustion. The good news is these workouts only last about a half an hour, once a week. The other good news is that THEY WORK! My husband looks years younger - he is now lean, strong, and fit!
