If you're looking for something to completely change how you view fitness and your health, this is…read morethe place to go. My wife and I have been attending for about a year now. While neither of us is what you would call an athlete, we both have noted significant changes in our day to day quality of life as a direct result of being regularly attending members. When I first set out to try CrossFit, I tried a couple different gyms in the area. The sample classes seemed intent on pushing me as hard as I could go without much regard for my current status of health. Easily the most important part of Leverage for me, has been the quality of coaching. Dave and Sarah run a tight ship. They're not looking to break you. If you're having trouble with a movement, they're going to positively encourage you to work within your ability level so that you can make improvements without breaking you. The community Dave and Sarah started is great, too. The people at the gym are always friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. Most people know your name if you've been more that once. There are a variety of class times that should easily fit the needs of most people's schedules. The rates are competitive. Leverage offers discounts for veterans, first responders, teachers, and students. The facilities are always clean and well put together. The bathrooms are always clean (supposedly that's a thing? I never realized...). There's a nice kids area that a lot of the members take advantage of. I will too, once my kids get a little older and more independent. I've been a runner, I've tried spin classes, martial arts, and plain old working out at globo-gyms. While I'm not the greatest athlete, this is something that has worked for me. I can't imagine working out any other way. The constant change of pace, the variety of movements, the tempo of the classes, Dave and Sarah do a great job motivating you to be better, without crushing you. Check it out. You won't regret it.

I've been to many boxes (gym), but CrossFit Leverage is absolutely my favorite. Can't find better…read morepeople or better coaches than Dave and Sarah! The gym is amazing, the community is great, wish I could visit more often!

Overall, I really like Vasa Fitness. I've been a member for 2 years, and overall have had positive…read moreexperiences. It's by far one of the most affordable gyms around with friendly staff, professional trainers, excellent classes, a great selection of machines, equipment and facilities including pool, steam and sauna. Lately, however, some negatives have been marring the overall experience. VASA did a massive membership drive/upgrade at the end of 2025 which has increased foot traffic dramatically. It's rare to visit now and not have a wait to use machines (especially treadmills). And speaking of treadmills, there are currently 3 treadmills out of order, and it appears that 1 or 2 are missing, given the spacing in the first row of machines. My second and bigger criticism is the subpar housekeeping, specifically the men's locker room toilets. There has been an ongoing issue with at least one toilet being clogged by paper and waste. And often multiple stalls with no toilet paper. There has been one stall marked "out of order" for a week. Yesterday and today there was another toilet clogged, and the other two stalls with no paper. Other times I've seen toilets clogged and water that has overflowed. Really disgusting to walk through that! Overall, I give this gym 4 stars for equipment and facilities offered. Sadly, they deserve 1 star for maintenance and housekeeping.

Disgusting. I joined Vasa in Wheaton when it opened. The conditions are pretty gross. I have…read moredocumented these complaints. Not sure I can post them here. I will try. I've tried to address this at Wheaton VASA and through corporate. All I've received in return is form letters and assurances. Pool: In the pool, the ledge on each of the three swimming lanes is covered in dirt and grime. Items float at the bottom of the pool, such as Band-Aids and gauze. In the corners of the pool, sediment, mostly dirt and sand, settle in the bottom of the pool. Interestingly, the pool is often closed. Not sure why they do such a terrible job of keeping it clean. Hot tub: hot tub is equally repulsive and not maintained properly. The intakes are covered with black mold and grime. For some reason, they close it every few days in the morning. Often you cannot use it. Seems like it would be better to clean it. (although, I'm not sure they ever do.) when customers are not using it. In off hours. Water access: some bottle fillers / water fountains Have been broken for months. (The one by the sauna, for example). Nothing seems to be maintained well. Locker rooms: these are bad! 1) the shower stalls in the men's locker room smell like a truck stop urinal. Flies Buzz around the stall as you shower. This indicates maggots are in the drain. It's been like this for months. 2) there is insufficient seating in the locker room. Some people spread all their positions on the benches, leaving no room for other others to change. This could be remedied easily but VASA, both locally and nationally is non-responsive to suggestions of customers. 3) the air vents on the ceiling, appear to be clogged with mold. This can't be healthy. 4) the hooks in the shower stalls have been broken off for almost a year. Any items you bring with you to the shower Must sit on the floor in the shower. What is most troubling is the lack of response to the lack of cleanliness. There is a reason VASA is cheap. It is built upon not expending money for cleanliness. They rely on customers, not caring that they may catch a disease from the unsanitary conditions. It is part of the VASA business model, I suppose. If enough of us bring attention to the unhealthy conditions, perhaps VASA will fulfill their obligations. I suggest reporting it to the DuPage County health department.

The trainers, the crew at the front desk, and the other people coming in to work-out are wonderful!…read moreThe energy and atmosphere is positive and encouraging, and on top of that everyone who walks in helps to cultivate that. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, you are encouraged, pushed, and celebrated. And I think that is what sets OTF apart from other fitness centers and other personal training. I am a NCAA D2 XC and Track athlete, and I was challenged and I have gotten so much stronger than if I was to do the exact same thing by myself. I have been motivated by the coaches and the people next to me (no matter if they are power walking, modifying the movement, or running hard)!

I have friends who won't shut up about Orangetheory so I looked into joining but when I went to one…read moreof the nearby locations, I had a poor experience and got the hard sell....so I left and put the idea on the back burner. The place has a cult-like following and a reputation for being expensive but worth the cost. The only way to get a deal is to sign up at a new location and get in on the founder's rate. But you don't want to sign up at a location that's not close to you because, from what I hear, if you attend enough classes at a studio other than your home one, they eventually move your membership to the most frequented location and you may or may not get to keep your founder's rate. After the poor experience at the other location, I was glad to see this Carol Stream / North Wheaton location pop-up that was just as close to me in the opposite direction so I could try signing up again. Plus the added bonus of getting the elusive founder's rate. This location isn't open yet - sometime early fall they say - but my experience so far has been excellent. They've returned promptly my many phone calls asking about rates, expected open dates, plan changes etc. Got the required heart rate monitor at no charge. Got the founder's rate. I initially signed up for the unlimited session plan but upon reflection realized that the 8-session plan is probably a better value for my expected usage pattern, and they let me change without any hassles....it did require an in-person visit again but they had the form sitting on a desk ready for me to sign and I was in and out in 5 minutes. Gyms aren't known for good customer service...most will treat you like a criminal if you try to cancel or downgrade. So, this place has already won me over with their excellent service and they're not even open yet. I can't wait until they do open so I can finally find out what all the hoopla is about.
