The class was decent overall, though I personally prefer studios where instruction is spoken in Sanskrit--especially when paying around $40 per class. It's possible this was specific to the instructor I had that day. One major plus is the free parking, which was always a struggle at the studios in the city. While the experience didn't fully click for me, it may be a good fit for others. I'm still continuing my search for a home studio.

CrossFit Catonsville is very close to home, they have a great class schedule (especially for a smaller gym), and kickboxing and yoga are included in their membership! Chris, the owner and head coach, is awesome; I find that his style of coaching is very focused on technique and he has lots of suggestions on how to scale WODs with the goal of getting stronger, not just finishing a workout. I've already PR'd on several lifts in the past month at CFC. Eric and Susan are also fantastic coaches, and I've really benefitted from some of the pointers and suggestions they have made. As anyone who does CrossFit will tell you, the community aspect is what keeps folks coming back for more. The people here are AMAZING and friendly, and I have felt so welcome from the beginning. This is a great box for people who have been doing CrossFit for a while, and an excellent box for beginners. The prices are really fair, and, as previously mentioned, you have a few other options for how to get a good workout in with kickboxing and yoga!

Yoga is so fun to connect with my baby and also other moms. Plus Amanda is a great instructor! That way you end up inadvertently meeting the different doulas. We went with Cara. She has a ton of experience and super chill vibe. Our hospital was not allowing extra visitors due to COVID so we signed up for a virtual doula service. She met with us a few times before the birth to review questions, birth plan, and provide support. She was also available via email for random questions that came up in between. The day of my labor I reached out to her as needed and she guided me through some of the decisions we had to make. Her support made it so that I could better advocate for myself and my baby during my labor. She was 100% supportive of all my decisions and in the end I ended up having a beautiful and quick birth. I am so happy we got a doula and recommend it to anyone no matter what type of brith you are planning on having. I found the groups to be more helpful towards the beginning of my pregnancy, especially as it was a time that COVID was just ramping up. The only issue is that the people in group vary from week to week. I think it would be nice to be able to connect with the same group from week to week so there is some continuity.
