These people are wonderful. Although pulling in is a bit hairy at times, depending on how busy drop-offs are, I can always find a spot. A worker will reliably come out to greet me and collect my shredding. Every staff member I've encountered has been extremely friendly and efficient. You can watch as they shred in their truck or on the side of the building. I make sure only the allowed items are collected because I wouldn't want to cause damage to their equipment or cause a safety hazard to their valuable employees. The whole interaction usually takes less than a minute. They also have regular trash cans if you have a little bit of trash to get rid of while you're there. Fast, efficient, polite and helpful drop off service - they will shred right in front of you. However, papers are cut into strips, not confetti, and fed into a metal bin that was heaped so high that some strips fell on the ground. So I'm not sure how secure the shredded papers actually were. read more

One of the best things coming from MoCo govt, is providing free paper shredding services. Just park your car and put in your papers to be shredded in one of the trash bins, see the nice person (who even helped me take the docs from my trunk into the bin) who hooks up the bin to the mobile truck and see the docs being shredded. Doesn't matter how much you need to have shredded. I must had over 18 boxes full of docs. Please do utilize this for any MoCo resident! No need to pay for shredding services at Iron Mountain or those bins at your local UPS store! read more

Don't know why we waited so long to take the boxes of old documents that were cluttering up the basement to be shredded. We had bank statements from 30 or more years ago. A pleasant man directed us where to park and then helped unload our boxes and into the bin. The whole process took no more than 5 minutes. So I had a completely different experience than all these other reviewers. Not that it was bad but it was totally different. I had called before arrival to find out if they will shred my documents while I was physically there or did I have to drop them off. The website and sign says "drop off". I was told that if it isn't busy then they will shred while you are onsite, if they are busy, you would drop off your papers and they would shred later. When I arrived, there was no one else there for shredding services. A man approached my vehicle and I asked if he is going to shred my documents right now - if he couldn't, I understand but I would come another time. His response was if you don't trust us, you should go somewhere else. This seemed like a strange response to me. I said, nothing personal but I don't know you so I have basis to establish trust. I asked him directly if this service was through Montgomery county- he said no. He said it is provided by a company that sells all kinds of paper products so the paper that is dropped off with them is used to create other paper products. Makes sense but I'm surprised how many reviewers specifically state this is a MoCo government service or funded by MoCo government. read more

Quick and easy drop off for shredding. The guy loads it in a huge truck that shreds. I have seen him there several times, very nice. If you catch him outside, he will do it right there for you. This drop off is within certain time slots, check the website. There is extremely minimal parking, its an industrial park, not much turn around space, lots of vehicles and semi trucks coming in and out. So be cautious, it's not paved either, gravel. It is NOT a place to walk around. I would not recommend leaving papers outside the bins, its accessible to everyone, come back another time. read more

One of the few places in town that'll shred paperwork for free. (I've only dropped off a few bags from residential use - I don't if they would charge for commercial quantities). They'll direct you to use of the bins in the lobby. For security purposes, you'll need to cram the paper into an opening no wider than a mailslot, so it'l take some time if you have several bags worth - being able to simply dump the bags into a bin would have been worth an additional star. read more

The first couple of times I went, there was enough time in-between that I forgot where the turn-off (driveway) was and passed it! It's tricky. Once I found it, there was someone to guide me cheerfully re parking. As soon as I popped the back gate to my car, a very friendly man took my bags out and dumped them into the shredder in the truck right there in my sight. What's not to like?!! It's FREE! What a great job! I stopped by for the first time today. I had 3 large bags of paper to shred. A young man came out with a large rolling trash can. He emptied the bags into the trash can and rolled it over to a truck with a shredder machine. I watch it get dumped into the shredder. Very helpful people. And, this was free! How can you beat that? Check their hours. They are open Monday through Friday, not on weekends. Also, while you can bring the material to be shredded in a plastic bag, it must be emptied into the trash can as the shredding machine won't take plastic bags, metals (other than paper clips), no 3-ring binders. Think: paper. You also can get a "Certificate of Destruction," should you need that. If you have smaller quantities, you can take it inside and put it into one of those boxes with the large slot on the side that looks like a mail-slot. Very nice people and a great job! I will be visiting them again as I have years of papers to shred. My thanks to them for making this so painless. read more

Assistant quickly took box of papers and put them in the shredder. Had a small problem finding the place. When turning left onto Southlawn from Gude there are three driveways in a row. This place is fantastic. Free paper shredding for Montgomery county residents. I have been there about five time. Most times the friendly staff will bring a large recycling can to your car and then immediately take the papers to the shredding truck. Twice there was no staff working but you can still put all your papers locked recycling bins. This takes a little longer, but still s great service. read more

I was not sure what to expect due to location and an apparent lack of parking. As it turns out, I need not have been concerned. As I pulled into the lot, I discovered a lot of cars and trucks and absolutely no parking to be found. Fortunately, that is when my "Shredding Angel" arrived. He motioned to me to double-park and helped me retrieve my boxes of papers. He then dumped them into a container and walked the container to a truck where they were immediately shredded. Wow.
