What gets me through the beginning-of-the-week-blues is Candlelight Flow on Tuesday nights. That, and Happy Hour Flow on Friday evenings. Oh, and 8am Vinyasa Flow on Saturday mornings. The studio is on the second floor of this old brick building in the trendy part of downtown Haverhill, where parking is ample either on the street or in the back parking lot ($.50/hr during the weekday, free after 8pm and on weekends). There's a really cute lobby area where you can leave your stuff on the benches. There's also a small curtained-off changing area. This might be weird to say, but I was also impressed by how clean and tastefully decorated the bathrooms are. But of course, the most important room is the yoga room, in which the positive and relaxing energy is almost palpable. High ceilings, dark wooden exposed beams, mustard yellow walls, and tall windows that look out onto the Merrimack River. This room beats any dingy gym I have ever taken a yoga class in. There are a ton of classes to choose from throughout the week, and the business operations of this studio run as smooth as butter. Just reserve a spot for a class online and then show up. There are a bunch of different payment and class bundle options available too. The owner, Caroline Giles is so incredibly friendly and encouraging. I also love how there are different classes for all levels of fitness and experience. I just wish classes weren't so pricey, although I think the $10/class cost is pretty average for places around here. I got a LivingSocial deal for 30 classes for $30 and it was the best 3-month break from the gym I have ever taken. read more

Although moving to a new town is scary, finding a Yoga studio you love is even scarier. I found Yoga Tree through an amazing LivingSocial deal so I figured I'd give it a try. Yoga Tree is wonderful. The studio is comfortable and friendly. They have a variety of classes and times to choose from and it is incredibly easy to sign up online. There are a ton of workshops (which I yet to attend but its nice to know they are available). The studio provides mats, blocks, blanks, bolsters to the participants during class if needed (free of charge). There is a ton of on street and also lot parking behind the studio. I'm happy to have a new yoga home. read more

As someone who is relatively new to Yoga, I was pleased to find a place that I felt comfortable at right away. The place is great inside; the decor and and overall feel and it's quite clean! The studio provides blocks, mats, blankets and more. It's in a great downtown trendy location and is pretty easy to get to. The owner who is also a teacher there (Caroline) is so accommodating and nice! You can tell that she truly loves what she does and it's so great to see someone pour their heart and soul into their business. I only come here occasionally, as it is not my local place but when I do, I thoroughly enjoy it. The teachers are all very friendly, warm, and nice. The online portal for classes is super convenient. The studio space is probably my favorite around, it is sunny and open and warm - I love it. They have a variety of yoga classes from slow to intense and work in a lot of different kinds of yoga which is refreshing. I hope to visit more often! read more

I have been here twice. First time was the regular community yoga class (vinyasa) and second time today for community yoga class (vinyasa) with YTT graduate teacher Kristen Newman. The environment was very friendly and everyone was smiling and greeting each other. We did good breathing exercises and stretches that impacted the whole body. We did the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and Kapalabhatti Pranayam (short breathing through belly) to name a few. We also did some hopping and random body shaking along with the regular moves. Kristen was attentive and friendly. Altogether, a very good experience. read more

I googled Yoga studios near my house in haverhill and this was the first place to come up so i thought i would give it a try....and I loved it!! everyone is so friendly and nice, and there was no awkwardness on my first visit.... they have so many options for classes and time frames vary which is really great for me as i work in boston and dont get back to haverhill until after 630pm. ive liked all the teachers ive had so far and all seem very knowledgeable and willing to work with you to find something that works for you. the studio is in a great location downtown, near the train station, with parking nearby. the studio itself is very welcoming and calming, and has a great view out over the river! your first class is free, which is awesome when looking for a new studio, and then you can do 10 days of unlimited classes for 10 bucks to try out all the different classed and find out what you like! another awesome thing is that you can pay for everything online if you want too! The Yoga Tree in Haverhill is this AMAZING tranquil place to practice yoga. Caroline & her instructors there are as amazing as the space. The 6:30am Sunrise Flow gets your day started on the right foot. And the Candlelight Flow in the evenings sounds as wonderful as it is. You need to check this place out! What a welcoming and inspiring experience I had my first time going. Guided through and hour and fifteen minute class, I was blown away by how calm I was during and after my experience. I have taken a few yoga classes elsewhere and not experienced this kind of feeling before. Caroline (owner) guided everyone through the poses and breaths clearly, walking through and assisting or adjusting those who could benefit from a little tweaking. She was so receptive, encouraging and nurturing through it all, which only added to the already beautiful atmosphere she has created within her studio. (which overlooks the Merrimack river) :) You really must go for yourself to fully experience all the good vibes this spot has to offer! I have not been to a ton of yoga classes and I have not been to a ton of yoga studios, but the folks at Yoga Tree were so fantastic and helpful that I can't resist writing a review! Their location is great - i love all of the old buildings downtown Haverhill and they have made this into a very relaxing space. They have a great variety of classes and workshops held regularly. This place is amazing!! I decided to start yoga last year and signed up online for the new student $10 for 10 days. I went to the basics class with Caroline and I was warmly invited into the studio and explained all that I would need. As someone who was anxious about starting something new Caroline made me feel very comfortable. It was that initial experience that has made me keep coming here. All of the instructors are j like that. They greet you when you walk in, they make you feel welcome, offer modifications to poses, and one of my favorite things compared to other studios is that they walk about throughout the practice. It always irks me when instructors do the whole practice from their mat--it is not beneficial for the student. The prices are also very reasonable with many options. It is great for me as a broke college student that a student discount is available. All in all a great studio and I wish I could afford to go more. My absolute favorite class is Restore and Renew yoga on Wednesdays night. It is an absolute treat! Checka is an absolute gift and offers you the most relaxing practice ever. read more

I've been to many yoga studios in the Merrimack Valley and the The Yoga Tree, hands down, blows them all away. I've been a student here for 3 years. If you're searching for a real yoga experience, search no more. This is where you need to be! Variety of classes offered for all levels. Every instructor brings a great deal of yoga experience to this studio. Caroline, the owner, brings in nationally renowned yoga talent via specialty workshops. Professionally run. All levels are welcome and once you step onto your mat you enter a safe, judgment free zone. Every instructor offers cues, modifications and hands-on re-alignment/adjustments throughout the class. My only complaint is too much chatter before class in the classroom. I like to arrive early to quiet my mind and focus inward before class begins. I wish there were a policy in place that suggested conversations should be kept in the reception area with the shoes. It goes along with respecting one's space in the classroom. read more

I love The Yoga Tree! The atmosphere is serene, The owner Caroline is so warm and inviting. She teaches classes along with Sally and Kimberly, and each instructor brings her own unique style and perspective to the practice. I have the unlimited monthly pass and attend classes five days a week. I've experienced a great deal of progress mentally and physically. I'm certainly a lot less stressed out than I used to be. I have been to many yoga studios in the Greater Boston area and in New York City - the Yoga Tree in Haverhill, MA is by far my FAVORITE! I stumbled upon the Yoga Tree because of a groupon and I work nearby but live pretty far. I started going at lunchtime and unfortunately work got busy and I couldn't go back during work hours but even though I live in Stoneham now, I would drive there on the weekends because no yoga studio can compare to Caroline's! Caroline, the owner, was sick of corporate America and decided to open this studio and follow her passion - I applaud her. She did an amazing job. First, the studio - it's beautiful, clean, on the water, there is always plenty of street parking (surprisingly) and she has great supplies - mats, blocks, blankets, straps, etc. Second - Caroline, the owner/instructor. Not only is Caroline a wonderfully sweet person - she is an AMAZING yoga instructor. She listens to the clients and asks the class what parts they want to work that day - she demonstrates and explains everything. She walks around and corrects your positioning to make sure you are getting the most out of your experience. This is what most instructor's should be doing, but Caroline really takes her classes to the next level. What I really love about her classes is they are not always easy! But all are extremely relaxing! She caters to the more advanced yogi's and really puts you to work but always demonstrates modifications for the beginners or inexperienced yogi's or those with injuries. The mood is always set right, she combines the right music, scents and environment (I love that she doesn't burn tons of incense too - incense makes me feel like I'm shopping a dingy record store when I was a teenager in the 90's LOL). At the end of class during meditation, she sprays lavendar - so relaxing and if it's a smaller class, she actually takes the time to make sure everyone is comfortable, and comes over to help out with any other stress factors...for me, for example - I have horrible posture. She will come over, massage my temples and push down my shoulders and help me stretch out my neck & back. It's such a small, simple and quick gesture but it really helps and shows how much Caroline cares about her clients and how important her business is to her. I think if you live in Haverhill - her Yoga studio is a MUST, but even if you don't - it is SO worth the drive! read more

I moved from the yoga rich Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area a couple years ago and have been very disappointed in the choices in the Maerrimack Valley area. Yoga Tree is wonderful. I was one of the first certified aerobics instructors way back in the day when high impact, huff and puff, power fitness was in vogue. Take it from an old school, burned-out exercise junkie who suffered lots of injuries... the Yoga Tree staff has changed my outlook on fitness and well being. Every instructor at the Yoga Tree is supremely professional, reflective, and knowledgeable. As a mature woman, and former dancer and gymnast I am consistently impressed with the expertise in building core strength, refining alignment, and in the work of the instructors to individualize each session with subtle guidance, and poise. For me each class is a "master class" reminding me of my ballet days in NYC when dancers would flock to specific master teachers to target specific technique building approaches. Caroline with her remarkable team of instructors have renewed my ability to move and breath like the athlete I was so long ago. The classes improve your stance, build your presence, and reinforce your well being. The yogis that attend are equally lovely, reflective, and serious about making every minute count. The Yoga Tree has been such a great asset to Haverhill! Caroline has really infused her intimate studio with warmth, compassion and an accepting, non-judgemental energy that is so often missing from other, larger, yoga studios. The Tuesday Candlelight Flow class, in particular, is amazing. The ambience, thoughtful instruction and sequencing, and a relaxing playlist all conspire to truly comfort and nourish the senses.
