This may not be the norm, but our family booked a last minute trip to the mountains to take advantage of the fresh snow and introduce our dogs to snow for the first time. One of our dogs is a senior pup, and his health has been worrisome. And after 12 years, I really wanted to make this trip happen for him, but I also wanted to make sure this moment was captured because this pup is my soul dog. I scrambled to find a photographer would be available last minute for a weekend slot. Naturally, no one was available, but one of the photographers I reached out to recommended Thea. Miraculously, Thea had a 9am slot open on a Saturday, which was about 24ish hours from when I messaged her! Securing my reservation with Thea was seamless. She was responsive and kind in answering my questions and recommended a spot that had all the elements I wanted and that was still safe terrain for my elderly parents to join us. I submitted my information, set up my payment, and my slot was secured. We met her at an easy location that she picked out, and I got all the memories that I hoped I would get. It was a 30 minute session, but we packed so much in there -- mountain views, snow close-ups, forest backgrounds. Thea and her mom, who was helping with the lighting, were so kind and friendly. Made our session fun and lighthearted. At the end of the session, we thanked her, and she told me my photos would be ready in about a week. Literally 24 hours later, I had an email with my gallery!!! 50 photos in the gallery of which 20 I could download at high res. I cried. Happy tears of course, because she captured the kind of candid, loving moments I envisioned with my husband, our dogs, and especially my senior pup. I wanted to have more photos of us and our dogs and thought our trip to Big Bear, during my birthday and our wedding anniversary, would be a perfect opportunity, so I googled "Big Bear photographer" and found Thea! It was super easy and quick to schedule a session with Thea, and we were delighted to meet her and her mom who serves as her assistant. (Unexpected bonus: Thea's mom is sooo adorable and nice and truly makes the best assistant!) My husband and his parents aren't "photo people," but they all agreed that Thea and her mom were friendly and sweet and made the experience fun and enjoyable. Thea has a wonderful eye for detail and helped us look our best throughout the session, like taking things out of our pockets so that clothing sat nicely, asking whether I wanted to remove the dogs' poop bag dispenser from a leash before taking photos (yes! ), and letting me know if the bow in my hair wasn't sitting straight (SO appreciated!!). Thea and her mom also had a great handle on getting our three crazy dogs to look good--and at the camera!--for photos. We all loved the photos that Thea delivered to us just two days later(!). We got the Gold package with 40 photos included, but I bought all 62 because they were all so good. Thea excels at family (humans and fur babies alike!) and couples photography, and the images she captured would be so perfect for prints, holiday cards, etc. My mom and friends also loved the photos that Thea took--one gushed, "These are editorial magazine quality!"--and I hope to do more sessions with Thea in the future! read more
