In that time, I have seen 28 of their productions and it has been a wonderful ride with the various casts. One thing first--A Public Fit is no longer at the address listed on this review page. The company lost its performing space there and have been at two different places since. The company now does several staged readings a year at the Clark County Library. The programs were so successful that the company moved from the library's small Jewel Box Theatre to the main theatre. For their staged shows, they have been using the Super Summer Studio Theatres. The thing that keeps me coming back is the fact that their works are not plays that have been performed in other theaters in Las Vegas. The company picks scripts that make you think and many times grab you with a white hot intensity, and they send you home often to do some further research. Under the leadership of Ann Marie Pareth and Joseph Kucan, one can always expect to come away from a production moved in some way. After each show, there is a brief intermission and then there is "The Buzz." During the Buzz, members of the cast answer questions and there's a give and take from the audience that stays for the Buzz and the cast and Joe. Questions are answered and sometimes new ones are generated! The area is richer for having this wonderful company continue in its 10th year. Support them. They deserve it!

It's in the Flamingo Showroom, just the right size for a show like this. We had great seats, and the performers were spectacular. I love Celtic dancing; I've always been on the fence about Flamenco, but nevertheless, all the dancers were so talented and the choreography so engaging that I enjoyed almost every minute of it. The two male leads and the female Celtic dancer were beyond compare. The one tango number seemed superfluous, though I love that dance. I grew to be a real fan after seeing a tango show in Buenos Aires. But since this was supposed to be a battle between the Celtic and Flamenco dancers, I can't figure out its purpose here. And, truthfully, the tango numbers on Dancing With the Stars have been better! Intermission brought out a hand shadow performer who skillfully entertained with take-offs on Elvis, Satchmo, Jerry Lewis, Ray Charles, and others. He even used his own hair as a prop. Total hoot! If you get a chance to see this show during its limited engagement, grab the brass ring and don't miss it!

I have been a season ticket holder for 3 years getting ready for the 4th year in September. Sure there were some plays that weren't as enjoyable as others. But, most have been top notch, showcasing the talent in the fine arts programs at UNLV. The new season brings the plays Fool For Love, Count Dracula, The Fantasticks, Summers of Fear, and Noises Off. In addition, there are three Black Box productions The Hot L Baltimore, Spring's Awakening, and Trojan Women. These will be in the Judy Bayley Theatre. Go see one of these shows and perhaps get hooked. I know, I did!

I went to see A Christmas Carol starring Armin Shimerman as Ebenezer Scrooge. I know him from Star Trek and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I am a fan of both shows which is what drew me here tonight. I arrived too early tonight and sat outside for 30 minutes before the doors opened. Once inside, I was greeted by the very friendly and informative staff. They pointed out the bar, the merchandise table and the information table. They even mentioned that there would be a meet and greet after the show. More on that in a moment. I walked around the lobby and sat for a while more before seating began. There were architectural plans for the set on display. Also, character and costume drawings. There was even a section for people to put on and get photographs of. This was all interesting and a great way to feel connected to the production. What piqued my interest the most was the collection of photographs which had nothing to do with the show. But there was a photo of David Hockney, an artist I am a fan of. There was even a photo of Andy Warhol. Cool stuff. I made my way to my seat about 10 or 15 minutes before show time. It was enough time to get familiar with the set and the theatre as a whole. This is a nive small venue. More intimate and accessible than larger places like the Smith Center. I had a great seat in the fourth row dead center. I was practically at stage level. For sure one of the best seats in the house. Though I get the impression, based on size alone, there is not a bad seat to be found. After nearly an hour of on stage action, there was a breif intermission followed by another 45 minutes of play time. It was a great production. Funny. Touching. Intense. A little bit frighening. I loved it. And the standing ovation at the end tells me that everbody else did too. With bows and the curtain call complete, the cast raced their way to the lobby ready to greet adoring fans like me. The cast were all gracious but we all wanted Armin. People were asking for autographs. A group of Trekkers, myself included, wanted a picture. He asked that we wait for the line to die down. We did wait and got our picture. A great way to end a fun evening.

I was visiting from out of town, and originally stopped by for their Tuesday night jam. Unfortunately, not enough people showed up so the jam was cancelled. But I was given a free ticket to their Saturday show. I brought my mom to see it, and we both had a blast. The team members are super energetic and creative! It was non-stop laughs. The referee kept the audience involved and there was never a boring moment. One nice thing was that I saw audience members of all ages, from children up to seniors (my mom is 72). I definitely recommend checking out the jams and shows at this theater, especially if you want a break from all the chaos on the Strip!

One day a pick up an teenage boy came and told us another kid had pushed my kid into the water fountain and was bleeding. We went to the dentist and the teeth were dead and they had to pull them. We are going on 4 years with no front teeth because of this place! The instructors weren't going to tell us or say anything. I wasn't going to sue them because I figured accidents happen. They were definitely irresponsible in how they handled it. I didn't realize how long the front teeth were going to take to grow in though. I'm regretting not getting a lawyer at the time.

Located on Decatur Boulevard near Arizona Charlies, the Playhouse is a space in progress as pointed out last night by one of the company's founders. The space can be configured in any number of ways, and I look forward to seeing future shows of PRP and see how the directors choose to use the space. For the inaugural show, they are doing Lizzie the Musical, a musical about Lizzie Borden. There are four very talented women who do the roles and there ism a wonderful live band which is great! I'd recommend this theatre company to anyone. They do good work. And, I'm glad they have a home of their own, the Playhouse!

This theatre is a treasure for performing arts in Las Vegas…read more It's nestled in the parking lot shopping mall area near Arizona Charlie's. When you enter the theatre you immediately feel at home and welcomed. It's like walking into a model home that you feel like you could take your shoes off in and snuggle up on the couch, as it's really nice, clean, and sheike, but also adorned with art from past shows and an atmosphere that is full of community. The theatre company, Poor Richard's Players, that owns the theatre, always puts on quality shows that have care, talented actors, creativity, stunning and thoughtful sets, great sound, and on point tech. All their productions are professional and unassuming. And they are well known in the local theatre community as they have won Best in Fringe at the Las Vegas Fringe Festival several years in a row. Their inaugural show for the theatre, Lizzie the Musical, was very well done with a full live band, a stunning set, a fog machine, creative lighting effects, and a killer cast. Even the lobby and entrance were adorned for the show so your experience started the second you walked in the door. From what I saw, the theatre is in the style of a black box theatre, an open space area that can be manipulated to accommodate a variety of audience and stage configurations with black walls. The ceiling is a beautiful open beam ceiling with string lights that illuminate the house when needed. They have a small lobby area, ticket booth, enclosed tech booth area, and restroom. It also has green rooms, costume room, workshop room, and more. I'm excited to see future productions in this space as it's obvious a lot of thought and care goes into what they produce and everything is tastefully done.

For the Kindergarten age and under, there aren't a whole lot of activities on or near the Las Vegas Strip, obviously, but this children's show is a quick ride share drive from the major resorts. A husband and wife duo put on an Alice in Wonderland themed puppet show with the wife as Alice and the husband as the puppeteer for the rest of the cast. The puppets look great but set design is simply a video screen - which is fine for the crowd they're catering to. Photos and videos aren't allowed (I found this out while taking pics for my review.) Like all shows at Alexis Park Theater, there is table service (yes, you can watch this show from your own private couch.) There is a full bar and cocktail menu. Seating is comfortable but not graduated. I could still see everything well as the stage is higher than the seats. Overall, if you have very small children and for some reason you have them with you in Las Vegas, this is the show for them. If you're a solo adult, this may be too childish for you.

I've come now to a couple classes and definitely want to make it a weekly thing. The drop in price is only $19, which isn't too bad in my opinion! I've been wanting to find an adult dance class because I truly miss dancing so much and haven't really taken classes since I was in high school. It's such a fun workout and I love it. Kara is an incredible teacher! Whether you've never taken a dance class before or if you're actually a dancer or grew up dancing, it's a great class to take! I am really enjoying them and can't wait for more!!! She also always records it at the end so you can show it off (or laugh, whatever your journey is). Such a fun class and the ladies that take it are also all so sweet and welcomed me with open arms at my first class! Can't wait for this week's!

After being with the Dance Zone for 10 years it was a HUGE let down at the end for my daughter…read more NOTHING was offered for her as far as continuing to love and have her passion for dance WITHOUT joining teams. When I expressed that to Jaime, I just got a stupid smile that said, "just keep dancing." The last recital for my daughter was a JOKE! Programs were not available for EVERY ticket sold. I understand the need to go digital however grandparents in attendance want a physical program. During each break we watched a video 4 times on another money grab on getting kids to join teams. When my daughter was 6 she signed up for ballet and was HUMILIATED by Mr. Caine as she showed up in a yellow ballet leo. Rather than speaking to the parent he embarrassed my daughter in front of all her peers. She then decided that Miss Haleigh was the teacher she wanted to stick with because she truly made her feel special and that she was part of a class. When reaching out for additional continuing dance classes I was told, "we don't offer that here unless you join teams." Luckily, we had the grace and caring from Miss Haleigh to understand my daughter's needs and will forever be GRATEFUL that our time on the way out made it not so horrible.
