    Thelma's Kitchen

Great little find! Food is always good. Soul food / home cooking is great & satisfy's the soul. Staff is helpful & friendly. A little hard to find but worth it!

Driving through MS on the way to Arkansas and decided to give Thelma's Kitchen a try. The food was AMAZING. Meat, 3 sides, bread and a drink. So many sides to choose from we all got different ones and they were all incredible. The fried chicken, baked chicken, and fried catfish were the meats our family chose and everyone ate every bite (and even got seconds on the fried chicken) Everyone there was welcoming and the service was top notch. We got to meet Thelma while we were eating which made the experience even more special. The dining room has plenty of seating if wanting to eat there. They do a lot of to go orders from what we saw while we ate our meal, so calling it in is an option as well. We tried the banana pudding and pecan cake for dessert and they were both delicious. The pecan cake is a must try! We will definitely make this a routine stop when traveling through the area. If you like southern food GO EAT AT THELMAS KITCHEN you will NOT regret it.

Couldn't find it. Drove around and wasted lots of gas. Wondering if it is closed. No one answered the phone.

Enjoyed our meal. The catfish was wonderful. Highly recommend. It's a working man's lunch.

Trash on entry curb, used item ;-p {gross}, lost appetite. What do u want to drink?' (Just entered)…read moreReceived dirty plate, all foods preflavored, no chance if you have health considerations, after line, had to carry tray thru to cashier to pay, [hard with a cane. Pls consider handicap]. Made up some pricing(?) Cloth seats dirty, spilled food caked-in -looked for others to swap, same. Others said food was great, if you have no diet restrictions, you'd be okay.

The Lunch Basket recently opened and I couldn't wait to try it out. Upon arriving, we grabbed a…read moretray, plate, silverware and proceeded down the line. There was mass confusion. We were responsible for serving ourselves and there was no one to direct us. It is not a buffet, so we had no idea how much food we were allowed to put on our plates. For either $10 or $12 (depending on the meat), you get a meat, 2 sides, a bread item, drink and dessert. Several items were completely out. A guy finally came to refill the fried fish and I had to ask him how many pieces we were supposed to get. If it wasn't for the fish, I probably would have left because none of the other meat items looked appealing. The fish was large and nicely seasoned. I opted for the sweet potatoes and macaroni & cheese. The sweet potatoes were good and macaroni tasted like a typical boxed recipe. We also had a choice between a roll or cornbread. The rolls were hard and not that great. I chose a bottled diet coke, because the fountain drinks were colorful and sweet looking, and I wasn't interested in drinking so much sugar. The desserts on the line didn't look appealing, but one of the staff told us that we could choose from various cakes as we got closer to the check out. What I saw next was inexplainable! I looked at the area with the cakes and it was in complete disarray (look at my pictures). There was a guy cutting store bought cakes and putting them in individual containers. The area was messy and the entire setup was unprofessional. While we were eating, I looked over to the food line and a guy was stirring food with one hand and talking on his cellphone with the other. Again, very unprofessional and unsanitary. One of the waitresses was also constantly drinking in front of the drink machines. The only plus worth mentioning is that the restaurant itself is nicely decorated. This place has a long way to go, so I'm not certain I'll be returning.
