For instance, the fried green tomatoes are thinner than you normally get, however, it gives a definite fried pickle chip vibe and is extra crispy. Saw the reviews here and decided to eat here on our vacation. When we walked in at 4:20pm (Sat), the line was 10 deep with about that many waiting for their orders. I ordered catfish, hubby ordered ocean perch, both with fries and coleslaw. It was about a 20" wait. The fish was delicious. We could have split one order and had fish to spare. Visiting with family and we all decided we wanted some fried fish. After reviewing Yelp places, we decided on Martin's. There is about 8 parking spaces outside, wasn't a big deal when we first arrived we were the only car. When we left every parking spot was taken. We ordered (3) Catfish Platters, Shrimp Po' Boy, large side of Fried Okra and French fries. Each platter came with 2 sides and 3 hush puppies. Fish was cooked perfectly, good flavor. French fries were crispy. Mac & Cheese was good, fried okra was tasty. Shrimp Po' Boy was good as well. All these orders fed 5 adults, and we still have enough left over for tomorrow. This place is a secret gem. I lovvveeedd the service! The cashier was very helpful and patient during my first time there. I have been a repeat customer since my very first experience. I have even traveled 3+ hours just for this food!!! I have told so many people about Martin's. My coworkers were in town for a project and didn't know the area but found this restaurant on google due to it being open early and had excellent rates. We almost didn't go in due to the sign that read "cash only" but one of the my coworkers had cash. The people that work here were so friendly and welcoming. We all ordered the catfish plate. They did not hold back. They provided more fish than any one of us could eat. I have had a lot of catfish but theirs to one of the best. Bad Customer Service! First time visiting as I was sent here by my boss to order food for our dental staff. I sashayed into the business with my lime green Gaddis Family Dentistry shirt ready to eat some seafood! I proceeded to order 3 Catfish plates, 1 Shrimp plate, 1 Ocean Perch plate & a Large order of Fried Green Tomatoes. This came up to almost $90.00 Everything ALMOST came out correctly -EXCEPT there was no SHRIMP to be found! After waiting 30 minutes for our food, We expected everything to be perfect I took the plate marked shrimp back inside to show that there was fish in there instead. To save time I offered to just keep the plate and take the difference in money between a fish plate and shrimp plate which was $4.09, but they were adamant about fixing the order by giving us the shrimp that we ordered. I initially tried to give the cashier back the $4.09 but was told to keep it. As I was waiting on the shrimp a lady came out of the back(possibly the owner) & told me nastily that I need To give the $4.09 back. I told her that was not a problem & the only reason I kept it was because the cashier told me to. She also insinuated that we did in fact get the shrimp and replaced it with the fish. I was shocked. Hush Puppy Heaven! Stopped in Martin's today after craving good fried fish for a few days. Little did I realize that the restaurant is only about ten miles from where I live in Clinton. Admittedly, I was taken back by the set-up of the establishment. When I walked in, I felt like I was crashing a family dinner. There were lots of patrons waiting for their meals, they appeared to be at home and kicked back conversing. I ordered pantrout, fried corn and macaroni and cheese. The dish is served with two of the crispiest yet moist hush puppies I've consumed. The portion of fish was enormous...enough to snack on the rest of the day. I'm admittedly prissy and I don't care much for fish with bones. I struggled eating, but it was worth it. The macaroni was creamy and good, I just wish there were more of it. The portion only amounted to about three fork-fulls. The fried corn on the cob was a treat, as I had never had it served that way. I believe I paid about $12 for the meal. There are several coolers of bottled sodas and drinks available. Tartar sauce was available at an extra .50 cent. I also spotted desserts in the coolers. The cashier was helpful and attentive. This is my favorite place to get fried fish. I rate it number 1 in town with Cock of the Walk being like 1b. Lol. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because sometimes the fries are cold and even if you call your order in, you still wait at least 20 minutes before getting your food. The fish is always fresh and hot sooooooooo it's kinda hard to be mad that you had to wait a bit. They have some really good pantrout. The pieces of fish were huge, seasoned well, and crispy. Best part of my meal. The hush puppies and fried okra were good. I didn't care for the fries, though, because they were too greasy and soggy. I didn't eat all of my food because it was too much. You could share with someone and still be full, unless you're just flat out greedy or don't like sharing. Do understand before you go that they only accept cash. Went to Jackson for my BFF's wedding, and found out that it just might be the seafood capital of the South. Down the street from The Queens was a quaint little spot that everyone raved about. The portions in the catfish meal are huge - enough for two. Hubby enjoyed the catfish. I ordered pork chop dinner not knowing the chops are fried! Great batter - Luke something you might find on A chicken fried steak. For me, it was too heavy with fried crust and too light on flavor. The only sides we tried were fries and cole slaw. Standard crinkle fries, but the cole slaw is thick and flavorful. I ordered okra, but ended up with slaw. I also ordered an extra side of cheese dirty rice - sounded interesting. I wish I could post a great review about this place. There's just one problem - I couldn't eat there! For one, Martin's has one of the absolute worst parking lots of any restaurant in Jackson. It's located on Clinton Blvd which is a busy street. When you turn off the street into the parking lot, you'll immediately be in a parking spot if there's one available. You have to hope by chance that there is a parking spot. I made the block three times to try and snag one. My third time around, I ended up behind a car, blocking them in. When I opened my car door, it was a miracle a car passing on the street didn't knock my door off. That's how close it was to the street, Please, Martin's, if you can find a way to expand your parking or get more parking, do so, Finally, we get in, and as soon as we do, a big sign says cash only. Um, what? In this day and age, what restaurant only accepts cash? It's a shame because I've heard good things about Martin's, but I think I'll stick with Penn's from now on. Awkward location hard to get in and out of but the food is excellent fresh and hot. wouldnt take anyone on a date here because the decor is 70's at best like a hole in the wall cafe or dive bar.
