The location doesn't look like much from the outside since it's tucked away in a shopping center, but once you walk through the doors, it is incredibly peaceful, clean, and smells amazing. We were greeted immediately by very polite and welcoming staff. Our massages were done by Jenny and Vivian, and they were absolutely extraordinary. These ladies definitely know what they are doing! They targeted the exact areas I mentioned were hurting, and my boyfriend asked for deep tissue, which he definitely got. The therapist's technique, perfect pressure, and knowledge of exactly how to stretch the muscles was delightful. We also chose to upgrade to the hot stones, which was a fantastic added touch. With such perfect pricing and a team that truly understands the art of massage, we will definitely be back.

After 10 mi utes i told her i was expecting a deep tissue. At that point she started attacking my back with movement that were erratic. I yelled out in pain which lasted 3 additional days. I was given a gift certificate and they responded with the bottom of the barrel experience. They shouldnt be in business passing off that woman as a therapist

I decided to treat myself to a prenatal massage and was referred to Body & Balance by a friend. They also have a live Groupon to try it at a discount. I booked a 60-minute prenatal massage which is 50 minutes of hands on activity and five minutes before and after. It's regularly $85 but you can add in aromatherapy for $10. Again, I got a price break with Groupon and also got a coupon afterwards for a return visit, so you may want to check that out. The masseuse's name is Oneida and she's very friendly and encouraging for moms to be. When it comes to prenatal massage, you either lie on your side or some spas have a special pillow for your belly so you can be facedown. Here, they have you lie on your side which was still comfy and I was able to relax. While she can't go too deep, I found the pressure to be good... Only complaint was that it went by too fast! Body & Balance offers a lot more besides prenatal massage including deep tissue, Swedish, and hot stone massages, as well as cupping. It's located inside Gables Optimal Health which has a few different holistic practitioners. The office is part of Giralda Plaza on the second floor of one of the buildings, so bake in time for finding metered street parking.

Absolutely horrible customer service. I called multiple times throughout the day regarding my…read moreappointment and no one answered. After trying repeatedly, someone finally picked up the phone 5 minutes after my scheduled appointment time had already passed. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, Alani, immediately claimed they never received any calls and basically told me there was nothing she could do. No accountability, no effort to resolve the issue, and no concern for the fact that I had spent all day trying to reach them. It's unacceptable for a business to ignore calls all day and then refuse to help when their lack of communication causes a problem. The receptionist was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unwilling to assist. Based on this experience alone, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would also like to clarify that I had no issue paying the cancellation fee if it was required. My concern was that I asked multiple times about the possibility of rescheduling my appointment, but that option was never offered or discussed. Instead, the conversation repeatedly focused on the cancellation policy and fee, without any effort to explore an alternative solution or accommodate a reschedule. Better communication and customer service in this situation would have been greatly appreciated!

I stopped by the store about a week before I wanted my massage to check the place out and schedule an appointment. I was very impressed when I walked in; it was very natural and relaxing inside. I was able to book a massage for the following week with no problem. The woman at the desk told me it would save time if I filled out the mandatory forms online and I should also arrive 15 minutes early. I came back for a 10:00 appointment a week later. The lobby was empty and it appeared that The NOW Massage had just opened. My masseuse, Anastasia, came out to introduce herself and to get to know me a little. The rooms are partitioned off by thick beige curtains and the sounds of waves crashing seemed to be playing throughout the facility. The table appeared sturdy and clean. There was a hanger for clothes and a box yo leave all other belongings in. I had chosen the hot stones as my "add-on" and I received a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable full body massage. Anastasia was fantastic I and if I return in the near future; I will definitely request her again. Afterwards I was offered infused water while I left my tip for Anastasia. The staff did try to sell me a monthly massage membership; but I told them I wasn't interested at this time. They weren't really pushy; and I think a monthly massage membership sounds great; it's just not in my budget right now. I did give the card with the details to my husband and suggested it would be a perfect gift for me in the near future. I was very happy with my hour at The NOW Massage, and I know I'll be back again in the future.

Rough, heavy "Swedish massage" resulting in broken capillaries and inflammed, sore skin. Sketchy…read moretipping and payment, with extra fees for using a credit card. Hopefully our experience gives others an idea of what to expect. I wish I had read the other Yelp Reviews before we went to Zen Spa. Other people have experienced the same roughness in their massages, and the same coerciveness with tipping and payment. Swedish Massage I booked a massage for my 20+ old son. He is an athlete and has had many massages at other spas, including deep issue/sports massage. When we arrived, the "therapist" suggested a 90-minute session for $110. For today, my son did not want a deep tissue massage so I asked her to confirm that this session would be Swedish and he could tell her to make the pressure as light as he wanted. She confirmed yes. Payment and 30% (or higher) "Suggested Tipping" When it was time to pay, she asked me to hand her my credit card, and then as she initiated the payment, she asked how much I wanted to tip. Since it was a $110 session and I customarily tip 20%, I said "$22". However, she did not just add $22. She pointed to a printed sign that listed "Suggested Tips for a $110 session" and the smallest suggested tip was $30. This is a 27% tip, far above customary. In all other businesses I've dealt with, I am the one to tap my credit card, and I can privately enter whatever amount of tip that I choose. But at Zen Spa, the therapist held my credit card hostage while asking me to tell her how much I wanted to tip, as if it was a set amount obligation and not the client's choice to show appreciation for good service. I was taken aback by how presumptuous she was, but decided that I would just tip the 27% and be done with it. The payment should have been $110 for the service plus $30 for the tip, for a total of $140. However, the receipt total said $142. I pointed to the sign that said the 90-minute Swedish massage was $110, so the total should have been $140. She kept insisting that her total was correct, and only after I kept asking did she point to a different sign that said that there was a $2.00 fee for using a credit card. My guess is that they were passing on the credit card companies' fees to the client, but they didn't want to change the published price list, so they created a smaller sign that said that there would be a $2.00 extra fee. Really deceptive. Rough Massage and Broken Capillaries After we left, I asked my son how it went. He said it was a terrible experience. We understand that there may be bruising or redness, but he has never had that with deep tissue massages at other places. But at Zen Spa, with a supposedly "Swedish massage," the woman was so rough with her hands and a tool -- perhaps a massage roller -- that he had to tell her to lighten up. The result of all the roughness is a back full of broken capillaries and inflamed skin (see photos attached). This is not normal. Less important, and rather funny, was that the spa room smelled like garlic. This place was definitely not peaceful and zen. One positive thing I can say about the spa is that they take precautionary safety measures because of the neighborhood. Another therapist/owner said that they lock the doors to the building when they are in sessions because "there are lot of bad boys" in the area.
