Please DO NOT go to Family First Counseling for any counseling needs. I was looking for a counselor for my adolescent daughter, I called Family First to see if Megan was accepting new adolescent patients and also to see if she accepted my insurance. I was told yes to both questions but was told I had to have a pre-interview to see if my daughter was a right fight for Family First Counseling. I was told I was have to pay a $50 out of pocket fee for this 30mins session with a student counselor and they could not bill my insurance for this session, I should have seen the red flag then but I had my daughter's best interest in mind over money. Any other counselor's office that I contacted will give you a FREE 10-15 minute session to see if you and the counselor would be a good fit for each other, again I was not thinking of the money but my daughter. After having the 30min session with the student, I was told she felt my daughter would be a good fit and she would email me some paperwork to sign. She explained Megan schedule was pretty busy but there was an option for two other counselors with more availability. After a week of me emailing to get the paperwork that I was told I needed to sign and asking what was the status as I wanted my daughter to have her first session and not getting any response, I received an email stating Megan was not taking any new adolescent clients and gave me a list of four counselors whom are with other practices. ALL four of those counselors clearly state on there website they do not see adolescent clients and do not accept my insurance. I sent an email expressing how I felt I scammed and received a rather rude email back from Megan herself assuring me I would received my money back, that was weeks ago and no refund as of yet! Please stay away from this place!

I was skeptical, but Shaheedra, my therapist, made all of the inhibitions diminish instantly. She was AMAZING! I wish I could say the same for management (specifically Aisha Holman). Although she is the business owner, she has exhibited some skeptical billing practices...to the point of being unethical and illegal. If you are a client, please keep a watchful eye on your billing. My therapist can attest, I paid my copay after each session to keep my balance at $0. My bank account was charged an unauthorized payment of almost $700. After inquiring with my insurance company, Aisha processed insurance claims and charged me full price after accepting my copays for several dates of service. She eventually responded on the portal stating I signed a form expressing I had insurance but wanted to be charged as a self-pay client. She also said I signed a consent form for the practice to charge my card without further authorization. How ridiculous does that sound? I signed no such form. Aisha refused to process the claim through my insurance and refund the payment. I have repeatedly requested a call, a copy of the signed form, and a refund. She does not respond. There were other fraudulent instances, but I can't go into details as this may be pending litigation. I have since reported this practice to the proper regulating board. If you are considering this business, I suggest you rethink it. I know other clients have been affected as I have spoken to at least one other. Please report any questionable activity. She has to stop taking advantage of clients seeking therapy!
