We went at night (around 6:30pm) and only 5-6 food trucks were open, there were probably a dozen total. I think some are open in the morning/afternoon and others in the afternoon/evening. I ordered an al pastor taco and chips with queso from CJ's tacos right before they closed at 7pm. The taco was good (a little greasy) but much better once you add the green sauce they serve with it on top. The queso was really tasty, like a better version of the tostitos queso. The food trucks are in a circle and surround a playground in the middle. It is a cool venue and while I wouldn't call it particularly nice, it is fairly clean. After the taco appetizer, we ordered gnocchi pomodoro and the casarecce with basil pesto and tomatoes from Artipasta with tiramisu for dessert. The pesto was good, but lacking in flavor a bit. The gnocchi were delicious, great texture and a wonderful tomato sauce. We honestly should have placed two orders for the gnocchi and skipped the casarecce. My friends liked the tiramisu but said it was a bit different from a traditional tiramisu. We wanted to try a vodka pizza from Day's Pizza but they were completely sold out for the day (no dough left). We tried the paneer entree and aloo paratha from the Desi Spot. The food took awhile to come out and I would have liked a few more pieces of paneer but it was all delicious. Overall a cool spot and a nice way to try a bunch of different food trucks and cuisines at once. Just check the hours for the food trucks you want to try before you go. read more

So many good food trucks are here in the Thicket! Artipasta, TX Shawarma, cheesecake, Vietnamese, Mexican, smoothies, even a BAGEL TRUCK for early morning breakfast that will stick to your ribs...plus it's so cute in here. There seems to be enough parking every time I pop in, and it's completely family and pet-friendly (keep yr pets on a leash, there's kids around!). My fave thing is to pop in and order from four or more food trucks to keep things spicy and exciting without having to incur delivery fees. read more

My group and I arrived around 7:30PM on a Wednesday. Luckily it wasn't crowded, but a few of the food trucks weren't open which was unfortunate because they all sounded so great! My party and I split up and grabbed a bunch of different things. We got some Taiwanese fried chicken, a giant corn dog, and a shawarma. This food park has finally recovered post Covid. They have a full lineup of food trucks with variety of cuisines - from Pasta to Middle Eastern to tacos and even coffee! The setup is absolutely great / with different styles of seating and some with natural tree shade while others have sunlight. The playground for kids makes it so easy to meetup with busy mom friends because you can keep an eye on the kiddos while also having a proper conversation. My first time here this weekend! I drove by after dropping off my doggo at Walk ATX. What a nice surprise, not busy, and so many breakfast food options to satisfy anyone's palate. Parking was no problem. It appeared to be super family friendly! Lots of kiddos, dogs, and all around chill atmosphere. There is a small jungle gym with a slide, and plenty of seating. People just trying to get their weekend going at an easy pace. There's a pretty field of wild flowers right next to it! Thicket is amazing. There is a little kids play area, very shady pick nick table eating areas. Great food and always just a great time. No alcohol served here though so keep that in mind. Lots of cool places nearby though so stop here to eat then head down the street to have a cool beverage! This is a super lay back area so everything is pretty much self serve. It's a park with tables in the middle. There is a ring of food trucks surrounding the tables and restrooms past the trucks. A "food truck park" sounds like a contradiction in so many ways that to the inexperienced it might sound like a redneck paradise, one close to my childhood home in Charleston SC. I mean who wants to visit a small wooded area with a few trucks that can't complete with restaurants that have so much to offer? Yes, I've heard this line of thinking many times and I can honestly say nothing is further from those misconceptions. Located a few miles south of Austin and easily accessible from I-35, this hidden gem can be easy to miss if you're not diligent in what you're looking for or Google maps falls asleep & zips you past the entrance. Pulling up is like a small gypsy caravan w/ parking around the centralized food & entertainment. We pulled up but I had to use the restroom first. Entering the very clean but passcode protected facilities, I can't really explain, but I felt I was at summer camp from the days of my youth. This set the stage for something I could have never imagined or felt! Walking w/ my two teenage daughters, we entered the epicenter of food, fun, and music. It was like the old west and the wagons had formed a circle w/ all the prairie folk inside. There are roughly 12 trucks although a few were closed, a playground for kids ages 2-8 or so and a stage for live music. We arrived on Friday at 6pm as to escape the majority of the heat and catch some live music. Kudos to thicketaustin for having the mist gently being sprayed to make the heat a little more bearable. My kids and I sampled a ton of the trucks starting w/ the truck Artipasta. My oldest got the tagliatelle w/ meat sauce and it was extremely good but a little bit greasy. The flavors were bright and the pasta perfectly cooked. The next truck was Un Mundo de Savor where I got the El Pastor & barbacoa tacos & my youngest the enchiladas rojas. The tacos were perfect with tender meats and fresh accompaniments. The enchiladas were the star. The red sauce was smoky and flavorful but to my surprise I was waiting for some major heat bomb to go off in my mouth and it never came. Brilliant! We also tried the chicken bahriani from The Everest Indian Cuisine and I wasn't so impressed. While the spices made the nose tingle, the chicken was stringy and the flavors were muddied and nothing really stuck out. We decided to try the mozzarella dog from The Corn Dog and it was like being a kid again but was a little more sophisticated. The cheese was melty and stringy good but the corn bread coating was slightly sweet, something as a southern chef I was proud of! The fried OREO was good and my daughter was giggling as she'd never had one before. Also their blueberry ice was perfect for the heat. Not exactly ice but more like a slushy from the gas station. Very good. Finally, we got three various cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Experience. Bite size pieces were creamy, not to dense, bursting with flavor and enticing the tastebuds to eat more and more. These suckers are DANGEROUS! While we were scarfing down our buffet of different cultures the people around us were all so very warm, welcoming and down to earth. Lots of toddlers were running around and enjoying life. Enter the band. A small ensemble of a lead singer who also played the harmonica and Ukulele, a guitarist, and finally a drummer. The cast made the forest seem alive with melody making and they were great with children singing songs they'd love and giving them egg shakers. I really appreciated the effort and craftmanship they put forward. Overall Thicket Food Park made me feel like one of the tree people in Sherwood Forest (too bad it's not renaissance fest time!). The music heightened the atmosphere while everyone had smiles on their faces and were a delight to be around. The food of course is the star and even if you have to get something to go, it's well worth the trip. In summary, if you want an enjoyable evening with family, a romantic evening w/ that special someone or need some great grub on the go, I highly encourage Thicket Food Park as your destination. read more

Tried something from a few trucks and just can't get over how bad food is here in Austin. Hanh's and Rougues are trash and overpriced.

What a great good truck park! Lots of trucks here and it's completely shaded. I think there's a good 20 metal picnic tables, all shaded. A little area for kids to play. Some kid toys. It's actually pretty peaceful being that it's downtown. Wouldn't even know you're in the city. I came on a Tuesday around 10am a lot of the trucks were closed. I hope to come back when more are open. Parking lot is a dirt lot. Not a huge lot, about 10 cars maybe. They do have a trailer like bathroom area. I didn't check it out. But I believe there's a code you need to get from someone working in any of the trucks. read more

The thicket is a perfect place to go for multiple people looking for diverse food options (all of which are delicious as far as I've tasted). They have everything from Italian to Tacos to Corndogs to Jerusalem dishes to Cheesecake. They have Vegan options and healthy options. There is seating around the grove of trees or you can take your order to-go. Ordering is easy as most places will give you a buzzer and let you walk around the rest of the park while you wait. They also have some smaller kids play areas and live music on the stage some days / weekends. Be careful though as some trucks have different hours of operation & may close earlier than others if they run out of food. Went the other night around 8pm and there were not many options still open. Truly a great spot. On a busy weekend parking can be a bit difficult since it's a one-way loop, so be patient or consider walking over from a nearby gas station if you must. This place is like something I made up in my mind. We planned for a speedy breakfast at Brooklyn Breakfast Shop, but ended up staying for a while to enjoy coffee and the awesome weather. I counted 12 trailers. Aside from Brooklyn Breakfast, there's also a coffee trailer, a thai food trailer, a dog treat trailer, and what looks like a beauty bus where you can get color and blow outs, etc. Wild. I saw a vegan trailer and an Italian food trailer as well as what I believe to be a tamale trailer. Can't say for sure. There are fun kid things like swings and a small play scape. I also spotted a stage towards the back. Funky sculptures on trees throughout. The food was a little pricey, but worth it, IMO. The dude who made our food was pleasant as was the barista in the Stellar Coffee trailer. Both food and coffee were fresh and delightful. Not to mix food and bathroom talk, but the restrooms were protected by a code lock and were nice and sparkly clean. Esp for a trailer park eatery bathroom. If you like being outside and don't mind spending $12ish on two slam bagels, def check it out. We will be back to experience more of the food options ASAP. read more

We didn't know what to anticipate showing up this morning at this food park. On yelp, it sounded more like a restaurant, but as we drove near, we saw that it was a collection of food trucks. A little disappointed at first, because it's still early in the day, thinking it was a restaurant, or a food bar. being from California, my wife and I enjoy the food truck the scene so we pulled up and gave it a try. I was taking back all my feelings about this place because it felt like an encampment beneath the trees with little tables. It was so cute you can almost Romanticize this as a gypsy camp. So he stopped by the Kerlaches food truck because the other truck was clean out of bagels at 11 o'clock. I recommend getting the beef sausage kolache. Make sure that you pick up the barbecue sauce because it just adds a tiny bit of sweetness to it. The price is right for four kolache's. I would get all four and share with your loved ones. Just chillin' in the cool weather at The Thicket Food Park. Was happy when this opened up nearby, and now that I work from home, I'm thrilled! It's pandemic friendly (all outdoors) and good for a quick pick up, or to stop and hang. Plenty of parking, pet friendly, kid friendly (dinky play scape and some trucks and such lying around), BYOB (grab something from 1st street market next door), live music, A/C bathrooms - all add up to a win! Variety of trucks/selection has changed, see the website for the list as it may give you the best idea. But some current favorites are Stellar Coffee Co and Brooklyn Breakfast Shop. This place was adorable. We were just cruising through Austin and looking for a place to grab food fairly quickly. The Thicket wasn't too far from 35 which was nice. It had trees and lights and a bunch of picnic tables. We went on Sunday around 1 pm. I tried to look on their site and see if they had hours posted, but I didn't see any and just hoped some trucks were open. Looking at other reviews, I'm glad it worked out for us. We got coffee and mango lassi from the coffee truck, barbaco tacos from the vegan truck, migas tacos and tamales to-go from the tamale truck. The thai truck had a vegetarian banh mi which was made with eggplant. We tried ordering it, but it took 30 minutes to make, so we passed. We like trying all the things, if you can't tell. All the workers were super friendly and we had a nice time and good food. I wish it was more clear what their hours were cause I know I would have been upset if we went and only the coffee truck was open. read more

Okay, this place is adorable! And literally only .25 mile from my house. There are misters throughout the whole park to combat the TX heat and plenty of park benches. I'm about to experience ARTIPASTA and I hope it's as good as the other reviewers have said... stay tuned! Now, the cons. It's 7PM on a Thursday night... there are 10 trucks in this food park, and only 3 are open. If you're someone who enjoys consistency and likes to have set expectations met, you'll probably want to call your truck of choice beforehand. However, Tyler, the head chef of ARTIPASTA, said that their truck and the vegan food truck, were open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday without fail. Lastly, there's some weird-er trucks here (also were not open) including a cell phone repair truck and a hairstyling truck. read more

We visited Thicket Food Park at around 7pm on a Wednesday night. There were about 10-12 food trucks in the area, with maybe 3-4 of them being open, which was a little disappointing but understandable given the weekday night during the holiday season. There seemed to be a great variety of food represented - Vietnamese, Italian, Indian/Nepalese, vegan, dog treats, coffee, etc. The seating area was also pleasant, with lots of picnic tables, lights, trash cans, etc. We enjoyed the Indian/Nepalese food we ordered from The Everest Kitchen, which arrived quickly. My husband ordered the Mango curry, which had a unique acidity to it. I enjoyed the Palak Paneer -- it was creamy, rich, and well seasoned. Each main dish comes with a decent amount of rice too! This place is great! We drove down to Austin for the weekend and decided to stop here for breakfast. I tried Brooklyn's breakfast truck - the bagel bacon and egg sandwich was very filling. The bacon was so yummy. I also got an iced mocha coffee from stellers coffee which was great. My husband tried tacos from Un Mundo de sabo - he got the barbaco, carnitas, and campecho taco. The carnitas and campecheo tacos are a must!! We went back the next day for more tacos. The outside area is nice and they had a great play area for the kids. Cool place in South Austin. It is indeed a thicket in the middle of a suburban area. Pretty interesting concept with a good amount of seating area (though not covered so don't go when it rains). The most popular and the only thing that was open when I was there was Artipasta. It was pretty good. I can't speak for other food trucks there. Why aren't they open for lunch? So strange. Time your visits. The other issue was parking. There was barely anyone there, but the parking (must be with the vendors) were already half full. Keep in mind it's a small parking lot and there's not close street parking close by. I'm sure it's more lively at night because we saw the string lights and stage for performers, but we didn't see any of that while we were there. read more

We have found a perfect Italian gem in Artipasta food truck. Their food is perfectly cooked northern Italian fare. The pasta is cooked Al dente to perfection. My new favorite place in Austin to eat with a toddler! The food trucks are all premium level and the playground is super fun for toddlers. My son especially loved the toy trucks and cars that were available for kids to play with. We went for an early dinner on Sunday around 5:30pm and it was wonderfully empty (but not TOO empty) and there was a really good live performer on stage who provided excellent background songs. Parking was easy when we arrived but the parking lot was much more full when we left around 6:30. About half the trucks were closed but we tried the Italian truck and the Indian truck, both of which were pretty good but nothing to write home about. But we all had so much fun just hanging out outside on a beautiful fall evening, and our 18mo enjoyed roaming around and playing so much. We'll definitely be back! read more
