The food was awesome. I got a spicy fish sandwich and truffle fries. The flavors and heat were fantastic. The proprietor was super informative and easy to talk to. The only reason I'm docking my review by a couple of stars is sanitation. Food was prepped without gloves and the proprietor had dirty fingernails. He was touching the tablet that scores of others touched and then went straight to touching our food (he was the only one in the truck) the rag he used to wipe the cutting board was dirty and gray as well. Lack of cleanliness is a big thing for me especially with food trucks and this experience was enough for me to be one and done. The fish tacos here are delicious. The taste of the fish, the not skimping on portions, and the freshness of all of the ingredients coming out of this truck is all very impressive. Was too hungry and ate it all before taking a picture but they were one of if not the best fish tacos I've ever had. The truck is inside the drifters outdoors seating area and there is a very large TV where they play sports. This truck was AMAZING! We got the spicy fish sandwich and double patty smashburger. Both were so flavorful and delicious. The fish sandwich had a big piece of fish that you can tell is really fresh. The smashburger had all the melty goodness you want in a burger. They also had 3 really good sauces to try with the sandwiches to add an extra spicy or smokey kick and flavor. The spicy green cream sauce was my favorite and had a true spicy kick, but the sandwich/burger honestly have enough flavor that you could go without extra sauce and they'd still hold their own. The food truck is right next to the Pickle Pub where you can rent a court to play pickleball, a sports bar to keep up with the games, and a stage for live music. There's plenty of outdoor seating and shady spots. There was also a big parking lot and they accepted Apple wallet, cards, and cash, which was nice and convenient. The food truck is run all by one guy and he provided excellent service. He was working so hard ringing everyone up, chopping the food, and cooking it up. I found this place randomly looking for a lunch spot. The reviews were all 5 star so I decided we had to try it. We pulled up and thought the area around seemed a bit sketchy, but are so glad we tried it. The owner was the one to take our order and make our food. He was nice and made sure our food was good and man was it! I asked if he made the sauce and he did and it's delicious! The bun was toasted perfectly, the pickles and sauce were delicious, the fish itself was yummy and had a very mild fish flavor and the crust on it was awesome! The fries (we split a regular) were salted perfectly as well! The food was piping hot which is an extra star in my book, I hate being served warm food, so this made me extra happy! Placed an order for two spicy fish sandwiches and were told it would be 20-25 min. Got a beer at the Pickle Pub. The food finally came out after 45-50 minutes so the wait caused me to subtract a star. The sandwich was crispy and flavorful and came served in a paper wrap to hold it together. The filet was white, flakey and cooked to perfection, with a crisp tasty crust. The sauce, toppings, even the bun complimented the fish. Local gem in south Austin! In front of Quack's coffee shop off Menchaca. Had the spicy fish sandwich (spicy but in a way complementary to the flavors, not overpowering), truffle fries, and fiancé had the cheesesteak. Everything was delicious, fresh, and came out quickly.
