One owner spent years as an executive chef at a casino, while the other built a career as a professional baker in Aberdeen. Boy, does that expertise show. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. A little context: I mostly eat pescatarian these days, so when I do splurge on chicken, my expectations are sky high. I've built it up in my head as one of the foods I miss most (right alongside a good ribeye), and it's almost always disappointing. Not this time. This chicken is absolutely ridiculous. They debone a chicken thigh and fry it into the crispiest, juiciest piece of fried chicken I've had in a long time. It's made with a gluten-free batter, which means more people get to enjoy it. All told, we spent roughly an hour sitting at an empty table without so much as a beverage, and about 90 minutes from the time we arrived until we actually had food in front of us. At that point, the whole experience was becoming almost comical. We ordered a cod burger with fries, a Caesar salad, onion rings and an iced tea. The cod burger was okay. Nothing memorable, but edible. The Caesar salad was actually good. The fries, however, arrived cold, soggy and thoroughly greasy -- quite an accomplishment considering how long we waited for them. The onion rings apparently embarked on a separate journey altogether, because they never arrived. By then, we'd lost the will to ask about them and just gave up. The grand total for one cod burger with cold fries, a small Caesar salad and an iced tea? $40.00! We mentioned the long wait, forgotten food and other problems to our waiter. He was sympathetic and explained that they were short staffed, which we understand can make things difficult.
