Been wanting to go to this diner since it opened back up under new ownership since Covid. Love the atmosphere of the classic American lunch counter. Booths and a lunch counter. Despite how small of space it is, it didn't feel cramped. The menu is diner food, nothing really jumped out at me as different or unique (maybe I missed something) but it had a great selection of traditional diner foods. The server said that breakfast is served all day. The menu says 2:00. Either way, that's pretty awesome if one wants breakfast for lunch. My wife had corn beef and hashbrowns, I had stuffed hashbrowns. Her meal honestly didn't look good, but she said it tasted good, I got a bite and I agree. My meal was filling and tasted good, although I did need to add more salt and pepper to get it there. (This is notable, because I'm not one to add seasonings at restaurants). Well, we do come here occasionally for breakfast. I don't particularly care for it. The food, at least the eggs and hash browns really have no flavor. I sometimes get a side of sausage gravy, and it also doesn't really taste much like anything. I got a side of fruit last time and most of it wasn't ripe. My husband likes the meat lovers omelette. The queen bee breakfast has thin bacon and his toast was very clearly burnt. The sausage links were big but super greasy and maple-y. I personally have never been impressed. I will come back every now and again because it is close and convenient and sometimes I am lazy. The staff is friendly. It is a clean establishment. It's a basic diner vibe. read more

The historic Bee Hive Restaurant is open once again! Back in 1934, it was known as the "Two-by-Four" and was operated in a large army tent. Back then Pioneer Ave WAS the Olympic highway, and although the highway now bypasses downtown, it's well worth the few moments it takes to exit the hwy and find a comfortable place at the Bee Hive to enjoy some great food and the historic diner atmosphere. I had the breakfast sandwich and coffee and both were delicious. My cup was refilled several times before ever reaching the bottom and the sandwich was loaded with ham, sausage, bacon, egg and cheese...very filling! Patty melt w/fries. Very unimpressed. The hamburger patty was flavorless and the fries were cooked with too high heat and too fast, resulting in hard exterior and undercooked interior. I had coffee that was watery and had to ask for a refill (none was offered) to wash down this simple yet flawed meal. Was given one small napkin with water spotted cutlery. No other napkins to be seen. The first time I was here I ordered a different burger that had flavorless meat. I haven't tried the breakfast yet, but I don't think I'll be back. Right now I'm waiting for my overpriced check- guess I have to go hunt it down myself. - and I did. I've been to hundreds of restaurants and I've had just as many burgers. This was one of the worst patty melts I've ever had. - no personality to it at all. Need to add seasoning, more fresh meat, more cheese, thicker bread. Really disappointed today!! Yhe prime rib was fatty. The cook sliced the meat rhin on the meat part and thick on the fatty part. Over cooked the My chicken fried steaks to the point I could hardly chew it. A splash of gravy on top top. The cocktails were made very strong and she was slowest checking back with us. I've eaten in Michelin star restaurants around the country. But. The country girl in my heart would rather visit a friendly, down to earth cafe like Bee Hive any day. This was my first visit, and everyone was so friendly; the staff, of course, but also the other customers. It's the sort of place where you immediately feel welcome, and you can't put a price tag on that. I got the feeling that if I ate there a few times, they would remember my name and my usual order. This day I ordered the Dungeness crab benedict, and it was piled high with real crab meat, no filler at all. Pretty amazing! Service was super fast without seeming rushed. Prices look reasonable until you get your food and realize how small the portions are. My hot turkey sandwich was 1st toasted which makes bread dry then almost next to no gravy and a small Portion of what looks like package Oscar Mayer turkey a small scoop of mashed with a small amount of gravy. My husband had chicken fried steak which was as sad. We had the same gravy. We got the bill Before we were done eating and also asked about a box as we were eating. More diner than restaurant. Food was OK. Staff complained about the lunch hour "rush" when the counter only had 3 patrons and at least 1/3 of the tables were open, but they were very friendly. Dungeness crab melt would be better with something other than American cheese. Onion rings were overdone and tater tots were way too salty. They serve breakfast until 2 and the plates I saw come out looked good. If I were to find myself in the area again, I might try the breakfast options. read more

My clam strips were undercooked ( I had to send them back). Even after getting them back, they tasted like bland, uncooked flour. The French fries were bland. I kept trying to have good experience so we ordered desert. I ordered the chocolate cream pie. The crust was par baked at best, barely above raw and mostly undercooked. My friend's apple crisp was good. So half the meal was OK, the other half dangerously undercooked, and now I have a terrible stomach ache. After my brother in law and sister got food poisoning there twice with the previous owners, I think it's heading back in the wrong direction. That's too bad. read more

Our party had the grilled chicken Dinner, a taco salad, and a chicken fried steak. Chicken was described as under seasoned but moist. Multiple folks walked out with us upset. Only when they brought us a ticket for our drinks and kid menus (no discount for their mess up) and we paid and left. I came in this evening and my food was great and the atmosphere was super comfy. I loved the ambience of the place but my waitress on the other hand is where it went downhill. She forgot to bring all our drinks, which whatever no biggie, but then she brought out our tables food out and forgot one...not a "oops I don't have enough room on my arms, it was a whoops I left it in the window and never went back for it..15 minutes later we finally got her attention and she apologized profusely...it was cool..not ice cold but definitely had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit. She was super friendly but had reeked of alcohol and cigarettes which really put a damper on our appetite. She was pretty klutzy and had almost tripped 4 times in the 1.5 hours we were there.
