I had a bad first impression while I was choosing my order. I saw one of the employees spill some food when they were putting it in the bag. They then scooped it from the counter and dirty windowsill and bagged it, handing it to the person waiting behind them. I love SMITTYS. I'm a local and this is the go to drive up spot for burgers in my opinion. The double double burger with fries hits the spot every time. Their food is very consistent as I've ate there 20+ times. The line can be pretty long around dinner time so I usually call in orders ahead of time so there isn't a wait. Smitty's has always been a favorite but lately things haven't been the same. The food isn't as good but I think the main problem is the staff doesn't look like they enjoy working there. They look angry, tired and unmotivated. I hope ownership remembers that it's often a first job for these young kids and it should be fun. They appear to be overworked, understaffed and undertrained, and that can't be blamed on them. But it is affecting the customer experience. Hope it gets turned around! read more

Elma's great. Elma is also tiny. Smitty's is probably the best option for people rolling through, so don't be intimidated by the strange ways the lines form up, the servers come out to take orders. Shake was good, but the best part was the burger. Toasting the bottom of the bun is genius. Solid local burger joint. read more

Our family stopped in as we were driving through to the beach. Everyone raved about their burgers. The fries were also very good and the milkshakes were frosty and thick. The guy helping us was super patient, even though they were very busy, as my kids all want their burgers made with different toppings. They got them all exactly right. It was 32.00 for two burgers, two fries, and two shakes. A little on the steep side but the way things are going these days with inflation. There was a line of about 10 cars when we got there but they are a well oiled machine and got to us very quickly. We will definitely stop if we are through the area again. read more

Pretty decent burgers, I personally don't like the fries. Probably the best burgers in town now that eagles nest isn't open. I feel like the service is ok, they complain online when people don't give tips but do the minimum when it comes to customer service. I don't know any other drive thru that asks for tips but they get mad when people don't. The drive through line is ridiculous and not big enough, usually goes into the road. read more

Just popped into Smitty's a few days ago and loved it! There are quite a few burger joints on the way to the coast but we decided on Smitty's due to the reviews. Smitty's is much smaller than I thought being drive-in only. When we pulled in, there were quite a few locals around getting their grub. What really impressed me was Smitty's staff. About five or six young kids really busting their asses. These young people were working really hard with great attitudes to take care of all the never ending stream of customers. Extremely impressive and noteworthy. We got a couple bags of burgers, fries and goodies from there. Fair, decent prices! Also the milk shakes are amazing, super thick and they have a ton of flavors. Burgers here are the big ticket item and amazing. Truly a decadent delicacy that is the American Roadside Burger and Smitty's burgers are huge and so tasty! Really good experience! Fantastic staff! Left one restaurant due to rude, greasy floors and other stuff... separate review... very hungry at this point. Searched Yelp for burgers on our route and came across Smitty's. Reviews sounded good. When we pulled up, we couldn't believe it was this tiny booth basically with a drive through window on each side. I mean it was small. The girls inside were all super polite, helpful and professional all at the same time. They all were wearing masks, properly. One informed us of items they were out of, (no fault of theirs, Covid has vendors and distributors not able to deliver,) and checked to see if we had any questions. We did and they answered and gave us lots of options to make our food the way we wanted. 5 stars for customer service. The food came out completely fresh and hot. The Diet Pepsi fountain drink was perfect. Tasted like soda not soda water. Two different burgers, one with sweet potato fries and one with regular fries. Nothing on any of the food was old. No freezer burn. No some fries cold some burnt some old. All very fresh. I'd give them 5 stars but it's not 5 star food. It's burgers and fries. It's not the fancy burgers but it is excellent drive in/thru burgers. We travel full time but the next time we are in Elma, we WILL visit Smitty's again. No dining options. Go to a park and enjoy. I was with my family and I had to go across the street to the gas station and when I came back our food was done, and that was four burgers with fries and chicken strips, so definitely speedy! Smitty's is a tiny little spot almost exactly halfway between Kitsap and the Ocean so we pulled off the highway this past weekend specifically to give them a go. The '2020 Summer of Covid' has become the summer to try all the little mom and pop burger joints in route to an adventure outdoors. Compared to a few other's we've tried recently I was pleased with the patty size, portion of condiments and the drive thru wait wasn't too bad. However $10-$12 for a combo meal is pretty spendy and I wouldn't consider this even remotely close to it's semi-namesake. That being said burgers, fries and a milkshake for a summer road trip really just seem to hit the spot these days and we were looking to support local. Can't say how many times I enjoy stopping here for that classic drive in hamburger place where the young kids are hopping while the line of waiting customers & their vehicles wrap around both sides of this little tiny drive thru only shack with an outdoor dining area out back with a restroom if needed. They say you can tell a great place to eat by how long the line is or the place is usually too busy, so newbies have to learn to be patient & nice to the workers there, or just go to the other side of town for fast food that might not be as fast as they expected. This is my fourth time eating here this year. The food always arrives hot even when there's a long line of cars. The french fries are slightly crispy on the outside and perfectly salty. The chicken strips are flavorful and crispy without being overly spiced or too heavily battered. When you get the chicken burger you may want to ask for extra sauce, but also extra thumbs up for toasting the hamburger bun! We called in our order. They were packed!!! Like always, which is a great thing. The girl came out to help us. It was so cold and blowing out. She went in and got our order. Our cost was under 30, well worth it!!! We gave her the change of our 40 cuz those girls were crammed pack busy inside and she was working outside in the cold. We felt they were working hard. The lines were way too long we sat there forever waiting for our food!! When someone finally brought it out to us, the fries were cold and mushy. Our drinks weren't brought out before we got the food either. The girls were not all that friendly. I heard such good things but I am disappointed.
