    A couple of fun finds!
    Steph H.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Fun little neighborhood record store. Happened to be walking by and decided to drop in for a quick peek. Had fun browsing through the vinyl selection and picked up a couple of Jean-Michel Jarre records on a whim. I noticed they had some apparel and books as well. Friendly young man working behind the counter. If you like browsing through used records looking for that certain something you didn't know you wanted, you've come to the right place.

Very cool record store on Retro Row on the corner of 4th and Junipero. The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable especially if you're new to the vinyl life. They have a pretty good collection of music but if you're into Rnb, Soul, Funk.. there's not many options but I was able to find some cool deals. The prices are pretty average for a record store but it's understandable as many of their records are not new. There are $1 bins in the front of the store as well.

The guy at the checkout was pretty nice. The items in the store are pretty well priced. Some CDs were hard to find and were cheaper than you would find at other specialty stores. A brand new cd was 5 dollars and on Amazon it is 19.91.

Miss this place so much during COVID-19 quarantine... so I ordered shirts on 5/17/20 & received them 5/23/20 :)

This is by far one of my favorite vinyl record shops across all of Los Angeles County. They are very careful about their record selections. The guys that I have seen working here are super friendly... it's always fun to pick their brains and learn about new (and by new I mean old ones that never came across my radar) records. During COVID-19 cabin fever quarantine, I had the desire to buy from my favorite shops. While Third Eye Records has a few items like memorabilia and t-shirts, they did not have any online record sales. So I purchased some shirts on May 18. Got a text from a staff member that there were out of one item. They offered a different colored shirt or a refund. I declined the refund. They shipped the shirts out along with a cool sticker. Can't wait to visit them again. PS - why is there not a vinyl record emoji for iPhone?

So glad that I randomly stumbled upon this place. There was parking directly outside of the shops, it's metered parking. A great thing to note is if you're just doing a quick pop in the meter will give you 15 mins complimentary to park. I was greeted as I walked in. I love that this place is small and not overwhelming with the amount of records. Their music selection is super easy to navigate and very intentional. It was so easy for me to find what I was looking for and also this Frank Ocean unreleased gem that I bought! I'll be back

I nice and well organized collection with reasonable prices and bargain bins for hunting for lost or new treasures. Always appreciate the new arrivals rack to quickly go through anything that has come in since the last visit.

"Oh but now it's like electricity Every time our eyes meet Your resistance is weakening And pretty soon you will be My sweet baby" -The Parliaments I sang the above lyrics to every pretty record I spotted at Third Eye. I loved every bit of this well organized storefront. Gary did himself proud. This spot boasts just as many new releases as it does throwbacks. The band merchandise haul for sale wound up being sizable too. The bargain section of the store should not be underestimated either. I found a few sleeper hits there. Not going to share which ones, but I did find a disco record going for about $12 on discogs that Gary let me have for $1. The funk gems were comparable too. Plenty of Ohio Players and old James Brown King 45s up for grabs. I enjoyed my trip to and from the register too. Gary presents as an affable and thoughtful music store manager. We talked quite a bit about about oldies, dance hits, and the vinyl record industry. He listened to a few of my anecdotes, and he threw a few Third Eye stickers in my bag. I believe I affixed one or two to a mysterious location in the LBC area. Others will discover them and end up at The Third Eye!

The two most salient facts I need to include here about this brand-spanking-new beaut of a record…read morestore are as follows: 1. This store is owned by Hector W. This man is the resident DJ at an event called Funky Sole, which occurs regularly on Sunset Blvd. 2. DJ Dennis Owens of The Good Foot at Alex's Bar is going to work at this record store. These two men are obviously exceptionally knowledgeable on the topics of funk music, soul music, and record sales. I am not as familiar with Hector, the owner, but I was present for the grand opening. Hector effected a calm, professional demeanor and managed to pull off a truly grand opening. The inventory of the store really soulidified my opinion of Hector. I saw countless essential and rare records from all major genres. The crate diggers came out for this one, and the inventory at Twelves had them foaming in the New Arrivals section. Credit to Hector's music taste for the event's success. DJ Dennis Owens was, is, and will be as indispensable to Twelve's success as Hector. Dennis has extensive experience in the music industry, record sales, and vinyl collecting. I have seen him DJ a couple times now. The man is a turntable wizard. DJ Dennis knows all genres of music. His soul record sets are particularly exquisite. He did a guest DJ set at the opening, and he informed me he will be working Wednesdays at Twelves. Take it from me: take any and all pieces of advice or recommendations that DJ Dennis Owens gives. He is thoroughly involved in the world of DJ music and prides himself on remaining conversant in all things tunes. I repeat: listen to this guru. The decor really fit the music on sale and the sensibility of anyone who loves funky soul beats. I saw a few great promo posters from old soul concerts. The records sit neatly in unpretentious bins. One distinctly pretty piece of Keith Haring's art rests against the wall just above the cash register. That Haring poster really ties the whole record store together, and I hope it stays up there for years to come. I loved what I saw in the inventory too. Plenty of soul, funk, and disco hits. James Brown, Funkadelic, and Donna Summer were there. Ditto Brenton Wood. I ended up buying a couple 45s and one disco 12". DJ Dennis Owens nodded at one of my 45s because it was a copy of Funkadelic's "Not Just Knee Deep." Just one example of the funky goodness to be had at low cost in Twelves. I'll be back on the night train to acquire more Soul Power in the future.

With growing popularity, enters Dakin to fill the void of a record store to meet EDM heads' needs! I was impressed to see such a large collection of used and rare house vinyl. I pulled out singles and EPs of OM records, Panhandle, Felix da Housecat, Masters at Work, Mark Farina, Naked Music, Collette and tons of other old house gems. Foot Work also carries techno, trance, drum n bass, and even some 90s hip hop. I love that you can listen to the records before you decide what you want to purchase. They also seem to prefer you left unwanted records in the crate, so they can make sure it gets returned in the correct section. Couldn't pass up a rec like that, so at my next opportunity I ventured over to check it out for myself. The store is newly renovated with love and care, with a highly curated selection. Dakin, the owner, is very welcoming and personable, and was happy to make recommendations for me. I had a great time browsing the selection of records; there are new and used, with some of the used ones not being strictly of the dance genre, but very cool, nonetheless. As other reviewers have noted, there is a listening station with bins where you put the records you don't want so you don't mess up his system--very smart. I'd already had a coffee with me so I didn't partake of the free in-house coffee, but next time! Looks like he'll be able to serve beer and wine soon, so that should add another dimension to the store's experience. If you're a fan of dance and electronic music this is a must-visit!
