First time here. We ordered the antijito appetizer which is a tortilla rolled with cream cheese and small amount of jalapeños then baked in the oven. It was cut into 10 small roll pieces. It is served with a dominant cumin flavored Guadalajara sauce and was good. My dh got the special of the day Soicy Beef Mexican penne and cheese skillet and it was pretty good but the garlic toast was not very good. i ordered the burrito bowl with 6 good sized shrimps.It was good and very filling. Couldn't finish it all. The service was very slow and quite honestly not acceptable. We waited a while until we were asked what we would like to drink. Our server finally came to get our order for appetizers and we were ready to order our mains but she didn't even bother asking us. While waiting for the drinks and food to come, a couple of men arrived after us and they quickly got their drinks and even their appetizer before we got our appetizer. That's not very nice. Then our server decided to go to a table of four who all paid for their own meals separately and stood around for another seven minutes after then until she finally came to take our food order. The food server who came with our main meal was pleasant and didn't keep us waiting though which was nice. The first server came by with our meal but stood over us hovering to see how much of a tip she was going to get. I feel that was not the way to make anyone comfortable so she should've walked away and came back j a few moments later. The restroom was clean but had a weird cleaning solution smell. Didn't really like it and wondered what it was. It's a simple casual restaurant so no free salsa and chips. It had a few decor items looking Mexican like the porcelain cacti in planters and the lizard wall handing. Overall it felt like a southwestern pub eatery. Overall, the food was very good. The food was great, I had the fish tacos which were filling and delicious. My girlfriend had the Cajun pasta which was creamy and very flavourful. Service was good, nothing special but our server was polite and efficient. The restaurant was packed at about 8:30 and filled with lovely music. To be fair my husband and I are taco obsessed. We actually turned the car around to stop in and check out the grub at Thirsty Cactus. It was pre-holidays so the "Guac Around the Christmas Tree" sign outside caught our eye. Turns out they don't serve guac. And the only tacos are hardly tacos. We got the jerk chicken and the fish. The fish were not bad. Our waitress recommended the anijitos which I could not stomach. They were basically squishy tortilla layers with mayo inbetween. I just had a girls night here last night for an early birthday celebration. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away, super nice and welcoming. The vibes in there and on the patio where we sat were fantastic. Our food came pretty fast, everything and I mean EVERYTHING down to the drinks were spectacular. The selection was great, so much to choose from. We got surprised with some specials on apps and that was even better. The portions are perfect, the seasoning was perfect, food was delicious. I had the Jerk Chicken Tacos and I was so happy with my choice. We also got the Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, Bang Bang Shrimp with the Cactus Dip; 10/10 everything, not kidding. The service was great, our waitress was Jessica (I believe) she was so nice and made sure we were good on drinks, food, and just in general. We didn't feel rushed, she let us hangout for a while, we kept in mind the tables around to make sure there were not people waiting for tables before we stayed around. I had a fantastic time, as my best friend did as well. I will definitely be returning hopefully soon. The staff is very friendly and efficient, my favourite place to have a pint in Dundas Weeknd have live music. Downside is the bathroom is down a long set of stairs, NOT disabled friendly. I am glad I found this place. A cute restaurant at the corner of King Street with old style paper menu which I personally like Being a vegetarian, it is difficult for me to find delicious veg food but this place made my visit to Hamilton extra special. I ordered "Huevos Rancheros Skillet" and modified it to exclude the eggs and add in the jalapenos and trust me when I say, it was heavenly !! The best food I have had in Canada since I have arrived here. I also ordered a chocolate cake which was amazing too and the restaurant offered it to us on the house ! I live in Dundas for about 40 years and have been to the TC every 5 years or so -- never have had a good meal there. Boring road house food, carelessly prepared. No idea how they stay in business. So many much better spots in town... read more

This place could be much better but I've had too many items on the menu that were really terrible and overpriced. If anything on the menu seems like a strange combo to you then it definitely is. Someone in the kitchen is overly adventurous with ingredients and creates some monstrous entrees. Their traditional buffalo chicken wings are good. Chicken fingers are good. And the Mac and cheese in the kids menu is good (but also spicy even if it's on the kids menu) and the chicken fingers and fries as well. My kids like it here. Free nacho cheese chips when you sit is also nice. The staff is generally pretty good too. But in the end something ordered always turns out to be incredibly underwhelming and the prices are not cheap for what you get. A $20 entree should be pretty high quality in my experience. Some examples that should be removed from the menu are the Jerk Chicken Tacos (overly salty, spicy and just gross) and the Bang Bang Shrimp Bowl (just gross on every level for a $20 entree. Makes no sense. For the same price you could go up the street to the Collin's and they clearly have a better kitchen (that has improved even more lately) at a similar or better price point read more

My friend suggested this place as she had just recently been here. We were greeted immediately by a variety of different waiters, which was quite confusing as we had no idea who to place our orders with.. Nevertheless, they were all very friendly, so that was okay. We mainly came here to have a beer and weren't particularly hungry, but decided to try some appetizers. I wanted to order a beer (can't remember the brand), but they had apparently run out since they had a special on yesterday. I wanted another and got the same response, so I opted for a Canadian instead. As for the food, I decided to try their jerk chicken tacos and my friend ordered their antijitos. Now I typically never ordered certain flavours unless I know the restaurant specializes in it. So I'm not quite sure why I went for the jerk chicken here, but I guess I was just really craving it. Unfortunately, I should have followed my rule. The sauce was very salty and it just didn't make sense in a taco. I had a really hard time finishing one taco and left the other two untouched. My friend enjoyed her antijitos, but felt really full quickly as they're quite heavy. The atmosphere was pretty good. The decor is nice and very bar-like with western touches. They also had a live guitarist/singer that evening and he played some nice songs. Overall I enjoyed being there with my friend, but I'm not sure I would come back. The Bang Bang Shrimp had dusted shrimps tossed in Dynamite sauce, drizzled in chipotle mayo, and topped with jalapeño . At first glance, the dish was smaller than I expected but its taste made up for it in the end. I loved the dusted crunchiness of the shrimps drizzled in the chipotle mayo and Dynamite sauce. It was just spicy enough for me and a dish I can see myself craving for every so often. At this time, the server also brought out a bowl of complimentary nachos covered with cheese. Yay! These were just regular nachos with melted processed cheese but I really liked it. It went so well with the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer to break up the spiciness. Lunch and Xmas shopping downtown Dundas. Free parking in December. Waiter very cheery and helpful. Cold draft Steam Whistles. Split one bowl of Brunswick stew as an appetizer served with two crunchy pieces of garlic toast - delicious and full of flavour, pieces of pulled pork, lima beans and corn in a tomato based broth. Main we split the club sandwich served on Flatbread with fresh cut fries. Waiter served it up on two plates which was not asked for but very thoughtful and appreciated. Serving so plentiful both of us could not finish everything on our plates. Fresh chicken breast, bacon lettuce and tomatoes. Served quickly and efficiently. We ordered curb-side pick-up, and brought home a very expensive meal that could not be eaten due to poor taste and very cold temperature of entrees that could not be warmed (contained greens and lettuce). A friend recommended the TC to us, so we gave it a try. On the plus side the patio is nice, the interior is pleasant. No complaints on the facilities, or staff. Everyone was friendly. But the food. Yikes: 1. Tomato soup was so salty neither my son or I could finish it. I did manage to get much of it down because it came with great garlic bread. 2. Salad was filled with wilted romain lettuce... in august, in Ontario? Really you should be able to get very fresh around here. 3. Chimichanga somehow did not measure up to standard. 4. We just made a $100 mistake coming here for dinner. The food is very bland and made with cheap/not so fresh ingredients. Nothing had flavour. No sides with the mains and for the price they should at least give you some rice and beans! Nobody was satisfied at our table. Everyone at our table agreed Taco Bell would have been a better option! Anyone who thinks this place has good food really has to get out of Dundas or Hamilton area more often. Calling your food 'tex-mex' is no excuse why everything tastes like it was cooked with factory-made ingredients. The owner or cook needs to dine out at a Mexican or tex-mex place to understand what these dishes actually are supposed to taste and look like. I walked by the other day and noticed a sign promoting their new 'poutine menu'. What does that have to do with tex-mex? Very strange and confused menu, bad food, okay service. Caesars here involve the perfect balance of clamato and vodka, adequate garnish and extreme green beans (extremely delicious). For those of you planing on imbibing alcohol bring your ID... or facial hair. They are very thorough. Atmosphere is a combination of rustic stone and bullhorns and retro cool tin roof. If you are a hipster you will feel somewhat at home. However, your skinniest jeans are not required. Food items were not sampled, but the free nachos with fake cheese did sweeten the deal. Overpriced and awful service. Stopped in for dinner with friends last night, dining area was not overly busy. Ordered soup of the day which was pulled pork noodle soup...when it arrived it was a small cup with over salted broth and some shredded pork, pasta and roughly chopped carrots on top. I decided not to eat it after the first taste as it was too salty and instead I just sipped on my water for the rest of the meal.. because the server never came back to check if everything was good. I would have ordered an alternative but by the time she did arrive, my companions were finished their larger meals. she simply took all the plates including my full bowl of soup. I didn't want to make any complaints as we were already running late to an event. I told her to put it in take away container. I fed it to my dog that evening, but even he did not finish it. I came here for my birthday and was underwhelmed. location itself is great. But everything else was disappointing. This restaurant has been a part of dundas for so long I thought I'd be impressed. The food was not good. The nachos were drowned in toppings you could hardly eat the chips and it wasn't hot when it came out. And the avocado tasted like it had gone slightly bad. The menu is way too big, but still didn't even have a proper drink menu (??) I didn't even know what I was looking at. And the portions are massive. I did like the deep fried pickle chips, which had a good portion size. The service wasn't great either. Our server even removed her wig at a different table at one point. Hoping our experience was the result of one bad night. But If you're looking for a nice relaxed patio with kind service, unfortunately I wouldn't recommend here. read more

What a cool place. My boyfriend and I were starving and we decided to go here. It was our first time and we had a super awesome server Moira who started us off with some tortillas and cheese sauce. We started off with beef nachos to share. The portion was so large and we got so full. I ordered the southwest Cobb salad with the avocado ranch dressing (Moira suggested - great suggestion as the dressing was delicious) and my boyfriend got the bacon cheeseburger. Unfortunately the burger was not very good and he had only one bite. Luckily Moira was kind enough to take it off of our bill. All in all. Pete and the boys (and girls) in the kitchen strike the perfect note if the lullaby you're craving is grilled-to-perfection cowboy-sized steaks, jammed-with-flavor burritos, mile-high plates of nachos, barbeque anything (seriously, just name the protein -- they'll cue it up for you), or a variety of spicy and interesting appetizers like alligator bits or deep-fried extreme green beans. I break out into an over-indulgence-of-food sweat just thinking about the place! The front-of-house staff are equally as excellent. Friendly and spot-on quick, and I dare you to order a drink they can't manufacture. Seriously, their bar is choc-a-bloc full of everything you could ever want. Plus, I think they have like 84,000 beers on tap (but I could be overstating that; you'd have to confirm that yourself). Went there last week with my wife. The service was less than desired. The food was absolutely awful. The starter was nacho chips with melted Cheese-Whiz / processed cheese. I had ordered a fajita platter which did not have any taste. The salsa was bland / tasteless, I even asked for a hot sauce which was watered down tobasco in a plate. For the atmosphere and pulled pork, this is my regular choice. The people are what make this place awesome! I also regularly get the pulled pork and fajitas. Visited dundas with my family over the weekend and decided to have lunch here. Have to say super disappointed! Although the portion size is huge, the food itself is awful. The nachos were crispy but the cheese was not melted and felt like it has been cooked for a while before it was served. Mind you, it took a whole for us to get the food to begin with. Sirloin steak was bland and hard to chew on. Cactus club tasted awful, I much rather just eat a sub at subway. The only thing i mildly enjoyed was the chicken burrito, although there was too much bean and very little chicken and rice. Also, while we were eating, there were flies constantly flying over our food and the waitress was not very attentive, will not come back! read more
