I love State and Main Waterloo. I have been coming to this location for business meetings for 2 years and the staff have always been friendly and the quality of the food has remained the same. It has more of a pub/bar like atmosphere with dark lighting. I have tried most of the menu items and my favorite is The Grilled Cheese Burger. It is so good, but you need to take a nap after. lol read more

We decided to come in here for lunch on a whim after driving by. The place was nearly empty so we were greeted and served quickly. Over the experience, our server was super attentive & made sure we had a great experience. I started with the tomato bacon soup- honestly, that was probably my highlight. It was so delicious. I ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My wife had the chicken teriyaki bowl. My steak was cooked and seasoned well. The asparagus was seasoned well. The potatoes were fairly bland & didn't have much flavor but the steak helped make up for that. My wife liked her bowl, specifically the chicken, but said there was a ton of rice + broccoli so she didn't get close to finishing it. I was in the mood for a great salad and I heard this place offers a salad I can barely finish decided to put it to the challenge. I ordered their chef salad it was huge I was very impressed it filled me up for hours I was able to finish it but barely. My husband and my brother got a burger here they both said it was really juicy and a good portion size unlike some other places that are nearby very dry burger -the works. This place did offer a kids menu which I was happy about we didn't have to make the chef scramble up some items for the kids. I will definitely go back and try other selections on their menu they have a lot of fresh quality ingredients So when in Canada let's try to put vinegar on our french fries why not LOL read more

My wife and I went here last night for a date night, and it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we've had together in our 4.5 years of marriage. I ordered The Sirloin, my wife ordered the pistachio crusted salmon - we waited 40 minutes without a peep from our waiter, he just ghosted us. When our food finally arrived, my mashed potatoes were FROZEN in the middle - Yes, frozen!! (I guess they pipe out frozen mash?) - I'm sure many franchises have similar tricks of the trade, but I don't want to know about it. My steak was room temperature, it had obviously sat under some heat lamp for a while, but no long enough to DEFROST MY POTATOES. We got the manager to come over, and she gave me a new plate of freshly microwaved mashed potatoes, without taking away my original plate - staring at a pile of half-frozen mashed potatoes fairly destroyed my appetite. She could tell we were displeased and asked if she could replace my steak, and I happily agreed and had to ask her to take my plate away. By then my wife had finished her plate, and we waited 15 minutes for my new plate, the steak was a better temperature, but more grisly, and now my asparagus was undercooked. I couldn't touch the mash. The manager was gracious enough to not charge us for any part of our meal - and that felt more than appropriate, so we were happy about that. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome - great decor and vibes, but the service and food was half-baked (literally). We will not be going back. read more

This place is really good! I am usually really picky about seafood, but their Calamari and Bang Bang Shrimp were awesome! The presentation of their food is very pretty and the atmosphere was very nice. The only way to describe this place is : A fancy/casual moxie's with bigger portions and cheaper prices. Don't get me wrong...I love me some Moxie's but this is a more relaxed/causal restaurant that won't break the bank. P.S. Their burger dishes are to die for! Venue is cute, for Kitchener where restaurants are limited it's definitely a go to spot. I've tried a few delicious items on their menu such as the shrimp, lettuce wraps, chicken burger, and the best part is if you order a main dish you get to choose 2 sides from corn bread to dill dip & fries. My only dislike I've had here came highly recommend by my server which was a poached salmon Buddha bowl (large portion).. the flavor combo was off- My GF and I both barely touched it, but luckily we also shared chicken burger so neither of us left hungry. read more

The place is nice and when you walk in you think you would be impressed but i've been a couple times now with friends and my boyfriend, the food is alright however i would never order wings again. The service is absolutely horrible though and management is very stuck up and ignorant!! treated us like crap every time we go, very sarcastic and snobby. Food is ok, nothing special. The wait times, however, are atrocious, even when the place is seemingly empty. The interior has a great vibe though, and probably not a bad place to grab a beer with the boys. But if you expect anything more than that, prepare to be disappointed. read more

Their food here is amazing & the staff is really nice! The Cobb salad is the best Cobb salad I have had, I love that you can pick two sides with your meal! I don't recommend going on a Sunday night, they basically have no staff on, and it was very slow getting our food even though there was probably only two other couples in the restaurant, our calamari ended up being cold(they ended up taking it off our bill) but last time we had it it was amazing. read more

I came here a few days ago and forgot to review them!!! I need to stop lacking, I know, trust Me! So... Here it is! I didn't know what to order when I came, there is a lot on the menu, going on! Of course I started with a drink and my very kind and cool waitress recommended the white sangria and some mixed Gin drink (I forgot the name of it, but I liked it a lot and it got the job done! I was feeling Tipsy, hehe).. and it was slightly sweet, which I like.. The white sangria was good but I noticed the fruits in my drink were semi Frozen, I didn't like that to much but it wasn't bad... I'd probably order it Again but I'm not sure about the frozen fruit in it. I ordered the fish tacos and I was expecting a fried fish but it was tiny pieces of fish, which I found to be Very Cheap, considering the price.. I believe the tacos alone cost over $13 Dollars and for that price, it should have a decent amount of fish in it, plus it lacked flavor... I was Looking all over for the salt and pepper and they didn't even have that at the table. My friend ordered the Calamari and it was DELICIOUS! It wasn't rings, I believe it was Real Calamari, which is Great! The reason for the 4 stars is because of the ambiance and drinking menu and the customer service! If your coming here for food,I'm not sure if I'd recommend the fish tacos and I Adore fish tacos! But I still recommend this place... I came here after 11pm and I still got served food and drinks with non pretentious customer service. I have been to this place before couple of times. One time I liked the food; second time it was not at all appetizing. It was just portions of food put together without any flavour and taste. Still wanted to give benefit of doubt and I decided to try again!! Worst decision of my day today, the place was almost empty but we were waiting for the order for a while. I was curious as to why such a long wait when the place is almost bare!! I asked the waitress about the status of our order and in 2 min she brought the order and said it takes time as we have to cook the petty for 15!! But to my surprise when we touched the food after 45 minutes wait it just barely warm and mashed potatoes were cold. when we asked to speak with manager, he goes we can give you gift card!! started lying and sugar coat the things rather than just genuinely apologizing for messing up with our order. But we waited for that food and but could not have a bite of that as we decided to leave the place after the reaction we received from the staff. It was very disappointing dinning experience!!!!! I have referred my friends to this restaurant because of my previous positive experience. But I will never return to this place ever again and will not recommend to anybody in future!!! read more
