Went there to watch a football match with my wife and have some food and drinks. The food was pretty good, portions were generous as well. The place was clean and had a nice sports bar atmosphere and they had lots of screens including a giant projection one to show the game. The bartender/server was attentive and polite. We went last night to see a band play. After paying a $20 cover charge our waiter came to our table 10 mins after we were seated to get our drink order. The menu is complete wrong, they don't sell labbat products as listed, they now sell Molson. No big deal. We changed our order. The waiter then brought our drinks several minutes later. And took our food order. While we were waiting we saw the tables next to us, who were seated well after us get drinks and food. We ended up going to the bar to order more drinks, as our waiter never returned. The bar never sent the drinks. We waited 1 hour and 15 mins for part of our food to arrive, with the drinks we had ordered 30 mins before. I don't know how the band was, because I left. I would never go back here. read more

Saturday December 4, 2021 Reservation at 5pm. Waited for someone to come take order for over a half hour. Flagged someone down and gave our order. Our meal finally arrived at 6:45. Not happy at all with service. We then had to rush through our meal to make another engagement which we were late for. Other people left without getting their food order. this place is an absolute joke - we made a reservation for 8 and they sit us next to the stage. Our daughter was with us to go see the rock game so we politely ask to move tables, there are plenty available but we're told we can't move. No manager or escalation would come speak with us and we left promptly thereafter - we wasted so much time we weren't able to get any food before the game. the place is old, loud and the service is trash. stay far away!! What an absolute joke. I've written to the Toronto Rock management team to assist in removing this vendor from any support gestures as it reflects poorly on them. read more

It was a visit with friends before a start of the Hamilton Bulldogs playoff game. There was nothing really wrong....the beer was very delicious. It was a Stonewall's Lite beer (don't harsh my buzz by poking fun at the Lite Beer) I was driving. The server was very nice & polite (didn't get her name--shame on me) & the place was clean & seemed well cared for. Nice big booths so could have seated 6 people. My issue...the food had no taste?! I ordered the house special Chicken Sandwich with fries. The sandwich was good but simply didn't have much taste!? My buddy ordered the same sandwich & made the same comment....little taste Fries were pretty good but not as tasty as I thought they should have been since they were house made. Disrespectful drunk manager. I won't bother getting into the details but me and my group of friends as well as my parents and their parents went to celebrate. The manager was very touchy with my friends mom as well as a waitress there which made her visibly uncomfortable to the point she was pulling away and speed walking away from him and avoiding him at all costs (again VERY visible to everyone at our party and I would assume other patrons) when we finally confronted him he continued to exclaim he was the manager and very respectful to his staff (clearly not) and saying he was such a good guy because he "supports N****rs" (his exact words not mine). When we continued to explain that regardless of if he is a "good person" he was making one of his staff very uncomfortable he started criticizing us (me and my group of friends) and after very loudly telling him off and leaving he called us wh**res. Other notes: half decent food, over priced, the waitresses were AMAZING even being understaffed but absolutely horrible management. Had a nice breakfast this morning. We really liked the home fries that were included with our the egg breakfasts. It has a bit of a mild kick that was a nice change. Had to knock them for the nonexistent selection of tea (only decaf Earl Gray & some herbals.) I mean really, there are two variety stores on the same block and a Vietnamese supermarket around the corner with an entire aisle of teas. Was excited to stop in on a Sunday to check out a band and have a bite and a beer. Band was decent, beer was cold, vibe was awful, food was mediocre. There were little kids running wild out of control which was quite distracting from everything. I felt as though I was at a kids birthday party. My wife and I went for dinner and stayed to see the band. It was nice that they have on-site free parking, atmosphere was decent, food wasn't great but hey, its really just a pub. The band was excellent. That is the part of the evening that will bring us back. On the down side, the service was terrible. Our waitress was missing in action. And when we could final find her it took at least 2 requests every time to get a drink. Average wait between order and actually getting what you asked for was about an hour. It was busy, yes, but, the place just isn't that big. There was more than enough staff, they just didn't seem to know what they were doing. The decor is cool and the live music is fun. Nice, big booths are a bonus. You could fit 6 people comfortably and 8 intimately. The service is great! Very friendly. I had the veggie burger and fries. I wouldn't recommend it. It's not very good. Very basic. My hubby got the chicken burger and enjoyed it. We shared saganaki, but I didn't eat much as it was tasteless and waaaaaaaay too greasy. It was swimming in it. I've had it many times at Greek restaurants and know it can be much better. My hubby says the menu description of wings turned him off so he didn't order them. My buddy's band played at Stonewalls for the Rush after party, and that's what brought me here. The place looks ghetto from the outside, like a small diner, but once you get inside its actually quite nice. They have tvs thoughout the place with sports and other stuff on (Glee, without sound?). The food was slow to arrive, but really good. Food I rate 9/10. Service was friendly, rate 9/10. Again, the food took a long time to show up so I rate that about 7/10. The interior is nice, they have large booths perfect for big parties of 6 - 10. Compared to many other places in Hamilton, I would say this is better than average. Also, free parking. read more

I have been to a lot of restaurants but I think Stonewalls is the best one I have been too, such a great atmosphere, wonderful food and excellent customer service and very friendly wait staff. They also have awesome live entertainment like Destroyer (Kiss cover band) and other great music. I highly recommend Stonewalls Restaurant for any private function or public event. read more

I like that there is a free parking lot and the inside is esthetically pleasing with dark wood, booths, a well planned seating area and lots of TVs to catch all the sports action. The bathroom is also pretty nice. The menu is fairly common: appys, pizza, burgers, etc. I tried only one appy, which came highly recommended, the spinach and artichoke dip. It claimed to come with tortilla chips and pita wedges but only appeared with the pita. The serving size was quite large. But there wasn't much to it. Unlike most dips with artichoke, this one you could actually taste the artichoke - which made me happy. What was disappointing was the lack of spinach... there was barely any there. The dip was mostly just warm cream cheese. It wasn't bad but I won't order it again. Overall nice place and I will go back and try something else off the menu next time. read more

Had lunch here yesterday - just me and my two sons. Burger for me, burger for son #1, and a turkey and avocado club for son #2. The food was great! Without question. The service was decent, but not the best. One server on - maybe a dozen tables on the go.....she was spread thin and it was noticeable. However, I'm an easy going guy at restaurants of any stripe, so the little lack of attention did not ruin my good time. When the server was there, she was awesome! Back to the food: I had a kick-ass burger topped blue cheese and roasted red peppers. It was unreal. Seriously good. I ordered delivery from here tonight. I shouldn't have ordered the calamari. It was so hard to eat. I have a feeling if I was eating in-house, that it would have still been over cooked. The ribs were okay. Needed more sauce to cover up the pickling spice. My husband said his fish and chips were great, but still he complained that they were greasy. The fries had lots of salt on them. Smaller place then it looks but very clean really nice staff,attentive. I got a in house home made vegan almond oat like burger with fries and a bottomless cup of coffee with almond milk (thank you to the waitress for letting me know they had dairy free milk it made my plain cup of coffee better) now ..lol..this burger...it was like eating a sweet cold oatmeal that was shaped into a patty with ketchup,relish mustered ontop.. oh manz I'm sorry I'm usually always eager to try new things, but this just doesn't work, I think our vegan/veggie friends could have a lot better , try making it out of chickpeas and spices instead or something, it was weirdly put together dry and spongy at the same time , please whoever created this invention replace it with something else I beg you, you can thank me later for being straight forward with you with no bs. Went here during the summer for a refreshing drink before super crawl. Had drinks on the patio. Its non smoking, however smokers just go right outside the door. Which also states you must be so far away to smoke. No one herds this rule. It was horrible inhaling second hand smoke. The waitress had no clue what she was doing. Our group of 6 took advantage of a discount voucher to have dinner and see a couple of bands. What better way to check out a new establishment!! The place was very busy. Our 7:30pm reservation started off well. Drink orders taken and delivered. Appetizers were tasty and food was ordered off of the pre selected menu offered as per the voucher we purchased. That's when everything fell apart. Hubby and I ordered chicken Parmesan (it was good, not much of it), two in our party ordered the half rack of ribs (we counted 4 actual ribs and the amount of fries would fit in one mans hand), blackened Bassa was also ordered, the fish itself was paper thin and the spice was overpowering. Needless to say our food experience was a bit of a joke. I gave my son in law some of my chicken because he was starving. We waited for about 30min before we asked for our dessert. The waitress looked at me and said " could you give me about 15 mins, we are very busy and I have to make up the desserts myself". WHAT????? A packed house and the waitress is plating the desserts herself??? Shouldn't she be tending to the customers and not in the kitchen?? Our desserts didn't arrive until almost an hour later. Several times our table was dry of drinks and i had to grab a different waitress to ask her to get our waitress to come to our table. I understand a busy night and sometimes a customer has to wait. We were being patient. What I don't understand is why this waitress was also the one clearing the table, making up desserts, and ringing through the bills when the customer paid their bill. The bands where wonderful. Atmosphere was good as well. Management should be better at scheduling either more wait staff or bus staff for these busy nights and having kitchen staff prepare the desserts in advance knowing that the dessert menu was the only menu option for our voucher purchased( other tables also had the same voucher). In all food was mediocre, and service was terrible! No one in our group would go back. So I noticed that when I gave this place a 2 out of 5star review. It automatically went to a 3 star rating and would not go below. Not sure if it is a glitch or not! read more

Nice spot to get some food (and drink) before a concert in Hamilton. Be warned, before a concert it is PACKED here, so make sure to make a reservation, and also expect that they will have a limited menu (understandably so), in order to get everyone in and out before the concert begins. I had the veggie burger and it was good. Our server (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name) was so so nice, and very attentive! This venue is absolutely terrible. For crediting themselves as "Hamilton's number one live music venue" you'd think they'd know how to use a sound system, but no. We arrived for a live music event this evening, bought tickets and everything. We were sat, brought drinks and menus and then promptly told that we needed to vacate or table despite having ordered food. Apparently they had some how taken a reservation that was for two people (we were three) and decided to require or table despite two other two to tables being available. The manager stormed over addressing me condescendingly as "sweetheart" after i refused to move my party after we had already ordered as there was no other table to seat us. This manager is an obnoxious thug who clearly lacks people skills and an intent to provide customer service. After she finally backed off to let us enjoy our evening, we received our food. Fries were probably the best part but at $5.00 an order, these people need to give their heads a shake. The nachos were god awful. $20 for a handful of nachos with about .5 oz of chicken, half a cup of cheese, a few jalapeño slices and a mound of brown lettuce on top - I think their self proclaimed "best food" rating is also a fable; likely created by the same blonde lunatic of a manager. Had I not been there to see a friends bad perform, I can assure you that i would have walked out on the disgusting $70 joke of a bill. This place is a disaster; Hamilton, the servers, the guests and the band all deserve much better than Stonewall's has to offer. I sincerely hope that you fail as a business soon so you can stop spreading your misery. If not, I hope that at least whatever manager was there this evening is removed and replaced with someone who would appreciate a job and has a basic understanding of running a food and music venue. Lastly, if you're going to continue to be a music venue, invest in a decent sound system and repair your lighting. The amount of issues in the matter of a couple hours is greatly concerning. If I Had been performing there this evening, I would certainly have a few choice words for you beyond all of this. The fish & chips and pizza came highly recommended, but I had to try the Lobster Mac'n cheese, and I was very glad I did! It was excellent. Lots of lobster in it, and the price, $14, is very reasonable. It didn't look like a huge portion, but I couldn't finish it all - very filling- and had to take the rest home to eat later. My husband had the hot wings, but while they looked delicious, he said they were not very spicy at all. He inhaled them pretty fast so I think otherwise they were satisfactory! read more

A place with fantastic washrooms! Okay, that's not a way to start off a review, but GREAT WASHROOMS! I've been going to Stonewalls since it opened, and I'm a huge fan through all the changes and decor modifications. When it first opened my friends and I were taking over/under bets on when it'd close, but I'm happy I lost. The decor is taller than it is wide, with very large booths and a more upscale feel. They have a pretty patio facing York, and large flowers as you enter. If you go, look up and around; it's actually a great building. The current menu is pretty good, enough choices to have choice but not so many you're overwhelmed. My personal favourites are the Irish nachos, the grilled cheese, and my best friend loves their burgers. Everything is clean and well-managed, despite a few recent changes in floor arrangement. Service is as fast as possible, given the immense space. If you can, ask to sit with Ellie or Jenny for the best seats in the house and the best service, The servers are all pretty attentive though, the food takes time but it's worth it. This is a place I'd avoid for live music (it's not the feel I like), but would take my parents for lunch, a date, or a birthday. I have been back to multiple times. read more

Disappointed. This place use to have the best wings in the city. We fequently ordered from Stonewalls over the years. Unfortunately they no longer have New York butter sauce,so we ordered Buffalo butter,which is not the same and wasn't nearly as good. The wings use to be the perfect size,not too big,not too small, now they're absolutely massive,and not in a good way. They were absolutely vile. The $11 poutin had alittle bit of shredded cheese,not cheese curds which you'd expect for a poutin that price. Even cheap pizza store poutin has signifcantly more cheese. We couldn't even eat the wings, they were just terrible. We had 3 and gave the rest to my dog, I'm not kidding. I'm not a picky eater,we order out at least twice a week and I've never once left a negative review to any place before, but this was really disappointing. Usually when I spend $45 on dinner,even if it's not great we'll still eat it. To not even eat it says alot. Every week my friends and I visit Stonewalls for Pubstumpers. Pubstumpers is a weekly trivia game (wednesday) it lasts about 2.5 hours. Since we started going (about a year ago) the food is ok but nothing to rave about and the service is HORRIBLE if you aren't being served by Jen (the server, not the manager). Last night we (table of 6) arrived for our weekly Pubstumpers. We got the waitress that never smiles and always looks like a sourpuss. We were seated and drinks were brought right away, an hour went by and the waitress was nowhere to be found. We had a table of empty drinks and our order had not been taken. She finally came over and took our orders and refilled our drinks. ANOTHER HOUR GOES BY and pubstumpers is almost over I decide to ask for the manager and the owner comes to tell us with a smirk on his face that the food is 5 mins away from being ready and if "that was ok?" My father in law informed the owner that it was NOT OK and we were not waiting 2 hours for bland food and shitty service. The owner then got defensive and called us liars and was not at all concerned with the service we received. Then he started yelling at me(a woman) when I told him I had been timing the server since we placed our order. 1hr 10mins. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE HOW MUCH OF A DOUCHE THE OWNER IS. read more

Bought a coupon online and took my wife out for dinner on a Tuesday night. Had a reservation for 6:45 and was seated right away and had my beer within a minute. We ordered our appetizer and entree right away. The appetizer took about 35 minutes to arrive but it was very delicious (goat and garlic). We waited another 35 minutes for our server to let us know that the kitchen was very busy because of a large party they weren't expecting. We finally received our entrees 75 minutes later. I had the half rack of ribs, which were delicious, but tiny and the side of fries may have been cut from half a potato. My wife ordered a pasta dish and the noodles were not fully cooked. We were offered an appetizer as an apology. Haha thanks we left it on the table with our desert. Never again. If you see a party of more than 10 people, walk out and try somewhere else as the kitchen clearly can't keep up during the week. read more

We often go to this restaurant and it has become one of our favorites. Friendly staff, good food and great atmosphere. Sometimes the service can be slow. There is live bands and in the summer you can listen to music outside on the patio. Most recommended dishes for us is the roast beef sandwich and guiness steak with yorkshire pudding.
