Our group of 17 had an amazing dining experience at Pub at the Pinicon. Several had the pork tenderloin and most left with doggie bags for a meal the next day. We tried the breaded shrimp and the lobster Mac & cheese. Both entrees were delicious. You won't leave hungry or disappointed with the quality of food and serving size. A couple of visits inform this review, which is 4 stars because one must take into account other options in the area, which are few. That preamble out of the way - I like this place! The facility is faux-English pub, with a woody vibe and lots of nooks and crannies. Servers are earnest, friendly, and very helpful, albeit not polished or slick. So far I have sampled the "pork wings" (breaded and fried slices of tenderloin - AMAZING!!!); the Reuben (solid, though weirdly served with Thousand Island on the side, not on the sandwich); the platter of red onion rings (crazy delicious, if a tad salty); and the spinach and artichoke dip (very cheesy - mmmm). Friends and family have ordered the Walleye (looked wonderful), the nachos (a little odd and not recommended), the chicken fajita salad (unexpectedly lovely), and the ribeye (a wonderful cut of meat, sadly very overcooked). There are lots of beer choices and more varieties of wine than I expected (they carry Malbec!), well-poured drinks, and the one dessert we tried (my birthday girl caramel sundae) was lush. A word on portions and value: portions are HUGE. You'll probably need a box. Prices are very fair and seem low to this city girl: great value for your money! If you are in the area and want a nice sit down meal in a cozy, friendly spot, this is the place. read more

Greatly disappointed. This was a stop on our Iowa Pork Producers BPT tour. The loin was extra meaty and breading thin. We paired it with their special breaded onion rings. Our complaint was in the preparation. It was over cooked and the bottom of bun disappeared after it absorbed all the grease from the loin. The onion rings was the same story. I was not expecting much, but the food was actually pretty good. I was told to get the pork chop, which was cooked really well and seasoned properly. For about $22, I got two sides and the chop. Great value and decent food overall. Plenty of drinks to choose from and a larger beer selection than one would expect. So high marks for that! Service: For a place that was not very full, took forever for the server to take our order. Overall: When in the area, I guess head to where the locals go and come here! read more

If you're looking for a great tenderloin in New Hampton, look no farther! HUGE!!!! Not only was it big, it was tasty as well. Mind you, the bun might only fit over a third of the sandwich but I'm sure you can make do. The atmosphere reminds me of something that you would see at a supper club in Wisconsin.... Which isn't a bad thing! Just came here for lunch but I would definitely like to come back sometime and try out their dinner. read more

The pub was a different experience. The atmosphere was calm and quiet. We had a party of 22 and they are coming as well. Their Special for the day with the prime rib and it was pretty dang good. It probably was tinder perfect perfection. Time he was amazing. I Coupleed with the house salad and loaded potato and it filled me up. They had a few hiccups in my order but they were quick to recognize it and fix it quickly. Overall good service and food. read more

This was my first trip to this area visiting a vendor and was taken to The Pub for lunch. One of the only restaurants in the area makes the reviews humorous to read. The bar and seating room are filled with locals and everyone says hello to everyone. The staff knows everyone as well and pretty much know the orders before they are said. Decor is dated but overall the place looked cleaned and well kept. Since I travel so much I try to stick to more veggies and less meat for health reasons. Not a good strategy when visiting the largest pork producing region in the country. We started with some cheese curds and the bruschetta for apps. They curds were slightly less than okay but the bruschetta was awesome. Most of the table ordered the pork sandwich that had about two pounds of pork on it. The pork hung over the bun about three inches all around. Apparently, the pork sandwich was voted #1 in a state wide competition and is highly regarded in the region. The restaurant must be proud as the staff sort of glowed when it was mentioned. I ordered the veggie pizza which was actually pretty good. It was very cheesy and doughy, I'm use to NY style with thin crust, but I would order it again. read more

Got the pork wings and high are their 2019 winning tenderloin in strips, breaded and fries. $6.99 for 6, 12 for 11.99, basket(pictured) for $10 with onion ring upgrade for $1.99. Wings were good. Bit fatty though - breading was light and great taste. = 4 Onion rings are red onion, slightly more than shoe string, but were VERY salty. Almost went with cheese balls and would recommend in lieu based on my experience. = 2-3 Bartender order taker very nice and knowledgeable. Nice place. I had the tenderloin and waffle fries. Found both to be overcooked and the tenderloin was greasy. My other half had the chicken cordon bleu and found it good. The service was terrible and I had to attribute it to our waitress. Everyone else appeared to have good service. We addressed the problem to the manager and he was apologetic about the service. We do dog rescue transports and the town is our relay point. A good restaurant is great to have after a trip. As there's very limited eating places here it doesn't leave a lot of choices. We might return but were very disappointed with this trip. read more

The food was great, once we finally got it. We waited an hour and we were never informed of the wait. The waitress was rude, there was a hair in the steak sandwhich, the "sautéed onions" were cold and raw. We ordered right when we sat down and our order didn't get put in until an hour later. We were also informed an hour after ordering that they were out of baked mac and cheese. Yet I got chicken alfredo 5 minutes later. read more

Perhaps the best (only?) fine dining restaurant in New Hampton. I had an alfredo dish here with shrimp and the meal was actually quite good. The service was not as slow as I expected because I was basing this off of my in laws who say they have no complaints about the food but in recent times the service is very slow, fortunately not in our case. I enjoyed the locally brewed beer that I had also and thought the food was good all the way around! read more

Food is good but the whole working process is poor, they need a system for the wait staff and kitchen, have waited over 2 hours for food with kids. All the staff runs around like chickens with their heads cut off, drink orders aren't taken for over 30 mins. These are not new staff or ill-experienced. Had a very nice rib eye steak and a generous serving of hash brown potatoes here while in New Hampton for a meeting. The steak was good quality (ok, maybe just a little fatty). I think the hash browns were hand cut. The meal came with a side salad. I had bleu cheese dressing. Pinicon is an event facility, besides being a restaurant and bar. They have a full menu available. I have a hunch that the pork entrees (ribs or chops) were probably the best choices. But the steak was fine. read more

Time for a current review. I stayed away based on stars but several people told me it was good! Here I am and I just had the best pork chop of my life!! Locally sourced pork - amazing, flavorful, tender, juicy! Just when I thought it couldn't get better I tried the house horseradish which I've never thought to have with pork. Perfect. Driving thru. Wait staff very pleasant but slow and uninformed. Drink made initially with generic gin we had not heard of - pretty horrid!, but was replaced on asking. Walleye not well prepared, was inedible. Not recommended. read more

Bloody mary was 95% ice. Spendy for a cup of ice, a pickle and 1 green olive. Meal was sub par... the finest dining in New Hampton? Umm well if its the only restaurant I guess. Just passing through and will drive to the next town. read more
