A little hard to find it's in the corner of a strip center and you can enter it from the backside as well as front, which Google maps took me to the back. Staff was very friendly the menu is extensive for a bar my food was great I was very pleased visiting from out of town. I was not disappointed. When you're leaving the strip center from the front part you're forced to turn right. There may be a light but I didn't see it so if you go out the back way you can turn left at the light. read more

This is a smokey locals joint where young and old come together for sports, darts, bar food, cold beer, cocktails, and shots. The smokey establishment has a jukebox and billiard tables if you get bored and are looking for a challenge or just want to let off some steam. The bartenders insist you sit at a table where they will bring you your drink of choice if you dont intend to sit at the bar. I dont particularly care for it as I like to deliver my own drink of choice to my own table the moment my drinks are made. Located in a plaza with many other food establishments and plenty of parking. The restrooms I will say are pungent and need a haulover, but it is a bar so....deal with it? Staff is pretty adequate. A lot of the reviews for this place are before they reopened last year. I've been before the remodel for drinks before and they definitely have the best priced beer in town! I've heard their burger is good but hadn't tried it out, partially due to the smoke cell that is no longer present. The burger is simple but one of the best in Huntsville. Hidden Gem!! We stopped by here because of the long wait at Drake's, and were pleasantly surprised. I got the fish & fries and it was amazing. The batter, the cod, the crinkle fries. ~chef's kiss! For two meals and four drinks it was around $50, so definitely affordable. Delicious food. Cold beer. Great prices. I crave their food and have to get takeout sometimes. I cannot go on enough about how good the food is! This is real deli sandwiches hot or cold as well as many other options. I would definitely suggest the turkey Reuben. The service is fantastic. They have awesome sizes of beer and great prices! This is not a craft beer place. Do not expect to have a large selection of craft beer on draft. I come here for lunch on Saturdays mostly. But I do occasionally find myself there late night, and it is still one of my favorite bars in Huntsville. There is obviously smoking inside, and that's the biggest downfall for me. A friend brought us to this place after our first choice was too crowded, and I have to say this is not my type of place at all! There's no actual sign out front, and the inside is very dark and dingy. The smokey-ness is pretty serious, there were only maybe 20 people there when we walked in and I could barely handle the smoke (not to mention everything we were wearing needed cleaning afterwards). The staff was nice and our waitress was very attentive, but not super helpful when it came to drink choices (one person asked about one of the beer's on tap, and she couldn't really give us any more insight than the name of it). Every server I have had the pleasure of getting to know is a truly amazing person. If you can't stand smoke, then don't go the the turtle. However, just because this isn't your cup o' tea doesn't make it a 2 star bar. The turtle is absolutely fantastic. They love what they do and love you too, if you aren't a dingbat. A dive, plain and simple. Thirsty Turtle is over 30 years old I think, at least its been there as long as I remember. It is super dark inside. Smoking is allowed and probably always will be, its just that kind of joint. And decades of smoke has left a permanent scent on the premises.
