Really more like a 3.5, FWIW. Took a lil roadtrip out to Athens with my folks on a day off last week. We wanted to try this place. Since it is in the main part of downtown, super close parking is a bit of a big ask; we parked at a public government building about two blocks down and walked over. The inside is very small and only has a couple of two-seater tables and one bench setup, but there are multiple nice metal tables outside to sit at if the weather is good. Fortunately, we lucked out in that regard, as it was a nice day. The inside of the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing, so I was excited to order. Their lunch menu mostly consists of sandwiches and burgers, with limited sides like chips, broccoli salad, soup of the day, and so on. Bottled drinks and a couple of desserts round it all out. My parents split a Philly cheese steak sandwich with pasta salad; I got a chicken cheese steak with a cup of the soup of the day (potato), and we shared a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for dessert! The employees were nice enough to bring our food out to us while we were at a metal table on the patio, so that was sweet. Food came out relatively quickly and was definitely fresh. Overall, it was fine! My favorite thing was probably the strawberry pretzel salad; I wish I'd had a little more but I should've ordered my own portion! lol. The potato soup had really nice garlicky croutons on top that I enjoyed, though I wish there'd been bigger chunks of potato in it. I liked my chicken Philly just fine though I feel like it was missing some sort of flavor somewhere. My parents felt the same about their regular Philly. Unlike me, though, my mom unfortunately got several gristley bits she had to spit out. The chicken didn't have that same problem. Overall, a pleasant enough experience though I wouldn't say our socks were knocked off, haha. I'd return and try other menu options if I come back in the future. read more

For desert I have a light and delicious chocolate cake with chocolate ganache glazed over the cake. The restaurant itself was extremely small, with some patio seating. Their menu is limited but the style of the place is quick & easy. I tried the Wildwood salad. For somewhere fast to eat in a smaller town in Alabama, this place is a good option. For the food itself, I could have easily made the salad in about 5 minutes after a trip from Walmart. My $6.50 salad turned into $10.43. They nickel and dime you. Salad $6.50. Add bacon $1, water $1 and then for a credit card they add 3% more. Gave a bad taste before I even tasted my salad. Tried this place instead of going to a chain deli. Nice sidewalk view of historic Athens Main Street. Got the 'Wild One' with corned beef. The Half is 12", so a good deal. I remember when the original Wildwood Deli opened back it the day and it was amazing. I moved away, it sold, and now I've moved back. The food was still amazing and one of the best burgers I've problems ever had at a restaurant in Athens. But I'm only leaving 1 star because the entire time we were sitting in the restaurant, we had to listen to the grill cook talk bad and complain about the customers and what they had ordered. This might be okay if you are back in a kitchen away from the people you are cooking for, but you are cooking on the other side of the cooler and there is a table of customers there. Not good customer service at all. I will never recommend anyone to eat here again because no one deserves to be talked bad about for not wanting a tomato on a sandwich. read more
